With an opening line like "Jeremiah was a Bullfrog, was a good friend of mine." how could this song not be a hit. It was written by Singer/Songwriter/Actor Hoyt Axton (RIP), he was the dad in the movie "Gremlins", his best known movie role. Three Dog Night were huge in the early 70's, and this song was everywhere for a time, TV and Radio.

I was in "Chorus" in 5th and 6th grade. We would perform at junior highs and have concerts at our school. We sang "Joy To The World" and "Hair" among other contemporary songs of that era. Our chorus teacher/pianist was a cute, modern woman of the the late '60's early 70's with her mini-skirts, mini-dresses and fashion. She was cooler than the other side of the pillow. Good stuff, Imadrummin! Harri was digging this, brother. Thanks, fellas!

From their 4th album, Naturally, from 1970, this song was featured in The Big Chill among many movies and shows. "Jeremiah was a Bullfrog", one of the most popular known opening lines and recognizable guitar lead into a 70's song this was a huge hit. Unlike most Three Dog Night songs, this featured all seven members singing the vocals, instead of the usual 3 members. The band is fully rocking out in this song, the great vocals, masterful guitars and pulsating drums just phenomenal. Reached Number 1 in the US and Canada on the charts. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Imadrummin. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

One of the best songs that Three Dog Night came out with featuring Chuck Negron on vocals, his voice can go as sweet and soft and tender as possible and yet he can kick ass if need be on a song. And you can't believe it or not, but after all these decades and so many hits, the stupid asses at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have still not inducted Three Dog Night in, if that ain't insane I don't know what the hell is.

Joy To The World and I Never Been to Spain wereboth written by the legendary songwriter Hoyt Axton. Axton was known among other things for his sly humour and his whimsical lyrics. So there is little point in trying to make sense of them...just enjoy them. My favourite lyric by Axton is from his song Della and The Dealer. The chorus goes " If the cat could talk what a tale he'd tell, about Della and The Dealer and the dog as well., but the cat was cool and he never said a mumblin' word." he is a whimsical delightful clever funny singer songwriter...so dont worry about the meaning just enjoy them..:))))
