Interesting. I’m one of the ones who assumed there was a red (orange red, blue red, to varying degrees) for everyone. Thank you for the time, love, and attention you clearly put into this video. I appreciate it and I’ve bookmarked it.

I have a natural essence and I’ve been typed as a soft autumn, so I decided “my red” is the soft terracotta pinks, because when I wear a medium toned terracotta pink, it actually looks on the edge of dramatic or romantic, but it’s still soft and earthy enough to work with my essence and coloring. This color would wash out a spring but on me it looks rich and deep.

@@Kris7245that is so interesting :) kibbe natural, soft autumn here as well, probably natural/classic/ingenue essence. I did have a classic muted red dress and sold it since I looked at the pictures where I was wearing it and it just didn't work, even though it was my colour, it was just too much. On separates it's fine, dark wine red/as well (I have one evening gown in it and that one is superb and also works with my lines, but make up is essential). I struggle with terracotta, it either looks too muted or too bright, esp. on tops, similar problem with old rose, it doesn't look right in natural materials, but take a bridesmaids chiffon polyester dress and it's ❤. I mainly wear red clothing in the evening or during winter/colder months, during the day it's too much and definitely not elegant looking on me. My colours of choice are cream, beige, tan/camel/brown, mint/muted green turquoise, petrol, salmon, peach, dark green and gray and a bit of mustard for fall/winter, let me know yours 😊 or any tips

I can wear red every day, all the way. It just sits perfectly on me. Lots of compliments! Doesn't look trashy or overdone. Then I see someone in red and think "OMG that's horrid" lol. Merriam's explanation let's me see why red just looks off on some people, but great on others.

I like jewel tones as accents (or even more muted colors, as I am a soft colour type) - burgundy instead of red would look more elegant IMO.

Yep, I gave up on most reds as they look very Christmassy on me 🎄 still mastering the basics!

I think red can look very elegant in a hight quality fabric and classic style . Also it has to be a good cut and be overall minimalistic. Think Jackie Kennedy doing her White House tour wearing two piece beautiful red outfit. Etverything else like hair , minimal or no jewellery should be subordinate to the red focus item , then, I believe the look will be v. elegant.

yes, but you don't sound like a beginner.

@@merriamstyle yes, you are right, I forgot this is an advice for a beginner. I love all of your videos and watch them over and over. I am a soft-classic and I so much enjoyed your analysis with lots of visuals, I don't buy a lot of clothes, just high quality minimal stuff in neutrals I update with accessories that lasts me a long time, I never get bored with them. I bought THE METAMORPHOSIS in 1987 and people at that time were not interested in the in depth info on body types. Thank you Merriam for sharing your insight.

IMO - Most reds in clothes are red/blue and I look best in red/orange. Thank you, Merriam!😊

Eb Ven before I was color typed I never felt good in red. I agree that bra straps showing look tacky. Another good learning video.

One video idea id like to see is how you can carry your essences to harmonize with your body type. And what statememt looks to avoid for your essences. For example: should an ethereal essence at all costs avoid a rock chic/ punk/ messy grunge look? Thank you so much! ❤

So, a recipe for a anti-elegant outfit: a red dress, clear plastic shoes and some animal print. And don't forget the visible bra straps! 😂

Personally, I do feel elegant wearing red. It's such an upbeat colour. The red dress Julia Roberts wore in Pretty Woman looked elegant.

Hi Merriam, I would be very happy if you could explain briefly in a video like this, for each body type, how they should best wear their tops. I am SD (typed by you), for example, and am often unsure whether and when I should tuck my top completely into my pants or rather tuck it in at the front and when I should not tuck it in at all. Thank you for all the great and helpful Videos.
@merriamstyle5 ай бұрын
Anything that doesn't look messy. There isn't a rule necessarily, but sometimes front tucks can look too messy on SD. but I can see tucked in for waist emphasis, or kept out for a long line both looking nice. So long as, again, it looks put together and not messy. it would really depend on the shirt/the entire outfit.

Merriam, could you please make a video on brows shape for Kibbe types? And thank you for all your work!

That’d depend more on your face shape and features than your body type.

Good observation. I really struggle with my bra. I have 32G size and it's difficult to find something that is seamless, fits well and is comfortable. But I agree good undergarments are crucial. I always cringe when I see girls wearing tank tops with bra straps showing.
