I was thinking , from the world of lapidary , jeweler's rouge to polish everything , then after a thorough cleaning apply polyurethane clearcoat except for the platter or pulley .

Thanks for your suggestion, Joseph. I might try jeweler's rouge next time, sounds good. As an amateur painter (see Rene's carlife) I could spray clearcoat, but it would be a pain to remove/renew it once it has scratches.

Rene I myself would have gone over all of your turntable's body after the Brasso with White Spirits on a paper towel just to clean out the pores of the Aluminum before using the car polish. The ball that you just about lost is ceramic, ceramic ball bearings were I think invented in South Africa so if you can get accurate measurement of its outside diameter all you would need to do was to get your local bearing supplier to get a ball Bering race with that size balls. I thought about the fact you said there are a gear in the bottom of your turntable, it must be for ( I am guessing here ) a counterweight to counteract the rotational vibration of the plater. If you have no luck with the manufacture then if you can remove the said gear/sprocket you could get a new one made using 3D PRINTING Kiwi Rod

Duncan, you're really a caring friend. I appreciate your comments so much. In this case, I might get away with a small bottle of loctite (according to the manufacturer) and just glue the ball bearing back in, I'll let you know. Thanks for the advice concerning the white spirits, sounds convincing, so I'll do that next time (high gloss never stays that long). And thank you for joining me with the rides in some of my vehicles, it was such a pleasure to meet you there and have a congenial driver's mate. This weekend I uploaded a video about grounding boxes and would like to thank you for the inspiration and for the impetus to produce it. I got out of my comfort zone but Clef couldn't. Nevertheless many more people than I had expected watched this episode and it's your merit.

Rene my friend, You have created a major problem for yourself, your turntable has that much BLING now you won't be able to get near your hifi without wearing your John Lenon glasses, if your feeling flamboyant then you may need those Elton ones . Over the years I am sure you have had a vast selection of hifi equipment BUT did you move them all on ???? OR Have you a cupboard with past successes & failures ? Kiwi Rod PS did you read between the lines ? Let your eyes do the walking & us do the talking

Hi Duncan, good friend, sorry for the late reply, but this comment strangely was not shown in the comment section, only in my private channel listing, where I found it today. Be patient and let one of the oncoming videos reveal which shade of sunglasses we will need.... Unfortunately I always had to sell my stuff to finance the follow-up gear, and I'm sure that in the heat of my younger years I let many a good device or speaker go without recognizing its full potential. Otherwise I'd own an ample exhibition of celebrities now. What I most regret is the sale of my Infinity IRS Beta towers, Thresholds, Krells and others.... What did you mean with the Kiwi Rod, by the way.....
