Hello, Mark. Glad to see you out and about again. There are several presenters I enjoy on a regular basis, but your posts are the ones I look forward to the most. Our tastes in tobacco are very similar. Also, here in the States we don't have the long history that you have on the continent so you're knowledge and ability to give insight into these locations make for very interesting viewings. Hope you are well and have a great year

"Perhaps, all the obstacles in one video." LOL. Indeed. Another fine video, nonetheless. I always seem to enjoy, no matter what. And, I agree with you that humanity may not have much further to fall. Yet, it's never the falling that hurts. it is the abrupt halt at the end that does the damage. And, anyways, in my mind, we may be in a tumble rather than a free fall.. So, hopefully, we just come out with a few bruises. And, then we brush it off and continue along. So nice to see you this year. So, whatever the traditional New Year wish is in Germany, I extend to you. And, as we say in New York City - Happy New Year, Mark.

So happy to see a new vid from you, Mark. Thank you so much for making it. It was watching you that made me try filtered pipes. Despite what I suspected, I loved it. It made me enjoy tobaccos more, stopped tearing up my mouth nearly as much, and sort of "forced" me into being a better pipe smoker. As a history enthusiast...your videos are my absolute favorite. My only criticism is that they aren't weekly! (But this is out of pure selfishness.) Thanks so much for doing what you do, whether the baccy reviews (you've turned me on to MANY of my newfound favorite blends), or the history. You make the history you discuss so engaging to viewers who may not already be enthusiasts. I once wanted to be a professor like you. Unfortunately the world we live in has made me give up on academia for a multitude of reasons (which I'm sure you can guess a few of, lol). I often think of how lucky your students must be! Whether discussing Saxon pit houses and graves, Boniface himself, or Bremen and it's ports, you truly do an excellent job! Please keep it up! (apologies for my horrible punctuation its very late here!)

Heya fellow pipers! I recently inherited 4 old pipes from my fathers friend. I was named after this fellow and now I have his pipes! They are beautiful and well made pipes but I cannot find much information about them. They all say “Brewster” “Imported Briar” They would have been used around 1960-1970. If anyone knows anything about these old Brewster pipes, please let me know.

Hola Mark. First: "Feliz año nuevo para ti y tu seres queridos!" It is a very nice, contemplative place, this monastery and the rain there is almost the same as we have now on our island. It's been raining here for two days and for the next three days, just a little harder than a hurricane. The Three Friars seem to be a very good tobacco. I like these three components and when the perique is in the foreground I like it all the more. The stamp looks very good. It's better than the original. Now it's like a new pipe. Keep care during this time my friend. Best regards from GC Insel. Michael

Greetings Mark my friend! This might have felt like a frustrating video, but I really enjoyed it. It is ironic that our two videos uploaded the same day were very similar. Even more ironic is that I had plans to make a video at a monastery not far from here with C&D Three Friars this Spring or when I could make it happen. Actually was going to do that this last year, but the pandemic interrupted many of my video plans. Not sure if I'll do it now or not....we'll see! Great video, you're right on about the tobacco...really enjoy it myself. And a beautiful monastery and interesting history. We'll talk soon...much to talk about.... Take care, Corey

A very enjoyable video Mark, 3 Friars sounds like a solid everyday smoke. Did they produce anything of note there at that monastery? Like beer perhaps? Happy New Year to you and yours my friend. May 2021 be very kind to you.

Loved this video Mark. 3 Friars sounds like a tobacco I would like to try and those wonderfully preserved monastic building were most interesting. Have you ever visited Durham Cathedral which was also a Benedictine monastery before the Reformation in England?
