Suzuka Nakamoto is a very sweet, quiet, but mostly typical Japanese girl......until she gets on stage as Su-Metal, then he whole aura changes and she becomes the queen goddess of Metal. Her control of the crowd, her famous death stares are all part of the act of being taken seriously as a metal goddess, but she does get silly as well, when the time is right. She is brilliant at all of her performances and is the main factor in the reason Babymetal was founded. She was THE singer they wanted for the band when it started in 2010, then they found Moa and Yui to fill out the rest of the group, as they really liked Suzuka as a mentor already in the same group they all started with, Sakura Gakuin.

This sounds like you found this analysis somewhere else by the way it was composed. The "girls" did not come up with any of this material. Their producer came up with the whole idea in 2010 and the girls had no experience with metal music. He's the one who deserves most of the credit. Most of these girl groups in Korea and Japan are put together by men with money and experience in the industry. The men who run these acts also make a lot more of the money than any of the women and they probably deserve it.

When this video was recorded Yui and Moa were 13 and Su was 15. They are amazing performers. Imagine inc. the company that owns Babymetal briefly released two performances-Tokyo Dome in 2016 and Wembley in 2016. Those performances were nothing less than amazing. Su usually keeps her "game face" on during a performance but the first night of the Tokyo 2016 there is a moment that gobsmacks Su for about 3 seconds. The moment a show ends, as the performance ends, Su is suddenly all smiles and playful.

They can do that because they were performing in front of crowds since they were in elementary school. They did not always look this "perfect". It took years of practice, often in warehouse spaces. Actually, performing in front of a big crowd is not that intimidating if the crowd is cooperating with the concert.

Good reaction ladies - and you got it right, this song is just a fun song about chocolate - they would really like some, but they're a bit worried about their weight - but it's chocolate and it would be so nice, so can they have a bit of chocolate please. It was the video that went viral and first really got them noticed - that was largely because of the shock factor when Yui and Moa start singing and not because it is their best song ... it really isn't (although it is still great fun when they play it live).

This show was called Legend 1997 because that was the year Su-metal was born - this was in December 2013 and it was the day after her 16th birthday. As this was an official video it had the studio audio, which was a shame since they actually sound better live (especially Su-metal ... but you know that from the Road of Resistance video you saw - such a shame that was blocked, it has been happening a lot with that one lately even though it used to be safe). I hope you do more Babymetal, every song is different, some are heavier, others - like Gimme Chocolate - are more 'poppy'. A good one for you to react to that doesn't get blocked would be 'Headbanger' live at Legend 1997 - same show but with live audio and the Kami Band playing live on stage ... and it is different to both this one and to Road of Resistance.

They've been joined on stage for this song by members of Korn, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and DragonForce. And with over 117 million views, it's their most popular video on KZbin. As far as choreography is concerned, the members of BABYMETAL work collaboratively with Mikiko, their choreographer. In their early days, as they've mentioned in interviews, they would learn the choreography for a new song in a couple of lessons. Now she has them listen to the music, and create their own movements and reactions to it. Then she goes back to her studio and creates the final dance moves, incorporating their ideas. Babymetal is a great rabbit hole. Honestly they are so musically diverse and their live versions are almost always the way to listen to them. The Doki Doki Morning music video was their pilot song back when Su was 14 and the Moa/Yui were 12. You'll see how they basically spawned a genre. Then when you hear their new stuff (eg Pa Pa Ya or Shanti Shanti or BxMxC) you'll see how far they've come.

2020 is the 10th anniversary for Babymetal, Su is 22 and Moa is 20 (21 in July). I'll let you do the math as to their age when Babymetal debuted. They have performed on professionally on stage from about the age of 6 yo or earlier. Their concerts run about an hour to an hour and a half and they maintain hat level of pace for almost the entire concert. There is physical fitness and then there is what ever Su and Moa are. No, these days, they are part of a 2 or 3 band set and their time on stage is more like 45 minutes. The backing band might perform longer but not the 3 women. I would rate their physical fitness about the normal level you will see with college cheerleaders during a football or basketball game. If you take away the fancy techno effects and just watch them do their act with a simple band it gives you and honest view of what they are really doing. It's still good but it's not as great as people try to portray it. People see what they want to see.
