Fun reaction! Here are some fun facts: 1. This song was named one of the most important metal songs of the last 10 years 2. Baby Metal was named #10 in the list of the greatest 50 metal bands of all time. 3. They are the only Asian group to ever hit #1 on Billboard's Rock chart 4. In 2015 they were named Women of the Year by Vogue Magazine Japan. 5. They have performed Pain Killer and Breaking the Law with Rob Halford of Judas Priest 6. They have performed Breaking The Law with Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers 7. In an interview Corey Taylor of Slipknot was asked what he listened to at home and he said "Baby Metal" Next I would suggest: 1. Legend of 1997 Head Banger - song is about a 15 year old girl going to her first head banger concert 2. Road of Resistance Live in Japan - their epic masterpiece but you have to stop and talk a lot of it will get blocked.

Welcome to Babymetal's galaxy. Gimme Chocolate is often the first thing people listen to of theirs as it is the video that went viral when it came out and it did that because of the "WTF" reactions it would get. It is fun but it is far from being representative of what they can really do. This video has footage from a live performance, the audio is from the studio - which is a shame as they sound far better live. The statue in the back is a sort of Mary statue but not ... it played a part in this particular show (Legend 1997 - from December 21st 2013) which was all about Su-metal (the lead singer) ending her existence as a J-pop Idol to be reborn as a metal Goddess (this was the day after her 16th birthday) and Babymetal as a band transitioning from an Idol group to become an independent metal band. You would have to watch the first songs from the show ('Ave Maria' and 'Headbanger night of 15 mix') and the last song ('BABYMETAL Death') to get a better idea of how that worked. During the show they also transitioned from singing to a backing track (the guys in skeleton suits - Babybones - were miming the instruments) to having a live band (the Kami Band) supporting them for the last 5 songs of the show. The Kami Band have supported them for the entirety of all live shows since early 2014. For a far better song with the live audio from the same show and the Kami Band in support I would recommend 'Headbanger' live at Legend 1997 kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3bWgJSDl7N5rdk This one is about a girl going to her first metal concert on her 15th birthday, but it is more than that - it is a coming of age, moving on to the next chapter in life song.

As Su-Metal, the lead singer has said, "Babymetal is not really pop or metal. It's Babymetal". This video is live but not really live. It's the studio version of the song laid over a performance video. They actually sound much better live than in studio. Babymetal is one of the best, if not the best, live bands around. The girls do not do any growling but there are some screams. I don't think anyone really knows for sure what the statue is in the background. They can be very mysterious with their lore. Babymetal songs are all very different from each other so you never get bored listening to them.

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🍫 💝️ You timed the pauses nicely, so that worked out pretty well. I like that you had stuff to say, rather than just pausing for the sake of pausing. This footage is from 'Legend 1997', a December 2013 concert celebrating the 16th birthday of the lead singer, Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto). She is now 22, and Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) and Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) are 20 years old. The BABYMETAL members are very aware that their initial impression is often "WTF?". They compare that to what they first thought when they were introduced to metal music. This whole concept of combining JPop/Idol music with Metal could have been a disaster, but the quality of the singing, songwriting, choreography and staging take it to another level. 'Gimme Chocolate!!' is definitely one of their "poppier" tracks. They have been joined on stage for this song by members of Korn, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and DragonForce. Obviously not all at the same time. : ) Yui announced she was leaving the group for health reasons in October 2018, but had not been on stage with BABYMETAL for a year before that. They announced at their first concert of 2019 at Yokohama Arena on June 28th, that a dancing support role would be rotating between three new "Avengers". They are Riho Sayashi (former Morning Musume), Kano Fujihira (current Sakura Gakuin), and Momoko Okazaki (a Sakura Gakuin graduate). Sakura Gakuin is the school-themed Idol group (ages 10-15) where BABYMETAL originated as the "Heavy Music Club". BABYMETAL became an independent group in 2013 when Su "graduated" from Sakura Gakuin. Yui and Moa kept doing both until they "graduated" in 2015.

The whole "myth history" of the band is pretty interesting. The whole Fox God thing came about from a misunderstanding of what the "horns" were at metal concerts. Instead of folding their fingers in, they protruded them and noticed that it looked a lot like a fox head shadow figure. And the Kitsune (fox spirit) is a major part of Japanese folklore, as well as being the name they give that symbol, so they built a whole story around it. The Fox God chose Babymetal as his agents on earth to fight against evil. They also incorporate some Judeo-Christian imagery, such as the Mary statue, crucifixes, etc. Su-Metal, the lead singer, is the true chosen, while Moa-Metal and Yui-Metal are her backups. Some of the in-concert storytelling implies that they are the offspring of Adam and Eve, after the fall, and they are a mix of good and evil, constantly striving to overcome their evil side. The two of them together form a subunit (or used to, until Yui left in 2018) called Black Babymetal, which will usually perform a few songs as a duo while Su takes a break backstage. As Black Babymetal, they have a more impish and mischievous personality, letting their evil side come out, and the Black Babymetal songs convey this in a usually humorous way. For a great Black Babymetal song, check out Onedari Daisakusan (Christmas-themed version): kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIKconWglLCkiJo For a good song that displays some growls, check out "iine!" It's one of the very first singles (2012), and Su does a killer growl after the death metal breakdown, although the death vocals from Yui and Moa earlier in the vid, I don't think are really them: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4fHc3WFpbiihJY For something much more recent, and that shows their versatility, on their new album Metal Galaxy (2019), they explored world music influences, hitting on Bollywood, Celtic/Pirate Metal, EDM, Pop, and Power Metal. Here's Shanti Shanti Shanti, featuring Moa and Su on vocals (Yui is no longer with the band): kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYLReJKKbNCVqrs Hope you enjoy, and welcome to the Foxhole!

Great reaction and good read up on BabyMetal. The lead singer Suzuka/SuMetal was the Youngest of the Karen Girl’s when she was 10 years of age. Karen Girl’s sang songs for a Anime series. When the series ran its course Su became the founding member of Sakura Gakuin (Cherry Blossom Academy). Think of it as a entertainment school for young girls. Sakura Gakuin is where BabyMetal was formed as the Heavy Music Club BabyMetal. You mentioned the Fox God. Come with me and let’s time travel to several important levels in the BabyMetal “Fox Hole”. First stop Suzuka/SuMetal’s former girl group Karen Girl’s. Su’s cuteness features her ears stick out slightly and she has a mole at the corner of her mouth. Next level: Moa and Yui’s entrance exam to Sakura Gakuin. Next level: A very early BabyMetal covering the Karen Girl’s “Over the Future”. This is a fan made video. It is brilliantly edited together and you can hear the music style change. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4euiGSdatGXpM0

Leann & Ari, Whenever I recommend for someone to check out Babymetal, I don't recommend Gimme Chocolate as a starting point, because it's so outdated (over six years old at this point) in terms of what they're currently doing as a group, and also because this song tends to make people tend to think they're some kind of "not really metal" novelty, which is completely not the case. The truth of the matter is that Babymetal is probably the most innovative and interesting thing to happen in metal in at least a decade. They've completely invented their own subgenre, and they do a masterful job of keeping their music fresh, and constantly incorporating new elements and influences. Not to mention they put on some of the funnest and best live shows around - they really are a group that needs to be seen live. At any rate, I recommend maybe reacting to some of their newer stuff, even if that means some fan uploads - some decent fan uploads are available. I would recommend maybe finding a decent upload of them performing "BxMxC" and "Kagerou" for example. There are also compilation videos of excellent songs like "Syncopation." There are also official videos that show what this group is capable of, including "Road of Resistance - Live in Japan." And if you have any doubt as to whether this band is metal or not, then I suggest reacting to the Legend 1997 - "Babymetal Death" clip and the performance of Headbangeeeeer!!!!" from the Legend 1997 show as well. If you are confused or have any questions about what you see, just ask. I'll be happy to clarify.

At the same time, this is the video that went viral around the world. "Doki Doki Morning" had moderate success online before it, but this is the one that put their name out there for people to sit there and go "WTF?!" It may be an outdated video, but they still perform it in their live sets as recently as earlier this year. I totally agree that it gives them the "not really metal novelty" to them, but they are reacting to what someone suggested. That said, I hope they do many many more reactions to them. I think they will love the group and become huge fans as they go.

Welcome down the Fox Hole! Where ya been? LOL!. My journey down the Fox Hole happened in April 2019. And now... I've joined the BABYMETAL fan club The One 2020. Dude, I have Never joined a fan club for Any music group, let alone a Japanese group. I Don't Even Speak/Read Japanese! But here I am, a grown man who grew up in the Grunge Era of American music, now blasting Kawaii Metal out the car speakers on my commute to work. WHY? Because that's what's called The Power of Music. 🤘🦊🎸🇯🇵🎶 You two will be seeing epic performances from Long Ago. You will see how 3 teen ladies + 1 narly band from Japan affect Thousands of gathered mortals. And YES: You will be Headbanging...and that's OK. Enjoy your journey. The One will be there to guide you to the awesomeness that is BABYMETAL.

Hey guys. The pauses are pretty standard on these kinda channels. Make that money. My fave Babymetal video is "KARATE". Great music video. Have a good one

Give MAXIMUM THE HORMONE a listen, they're a Japanese thrash metal band, that dips into mixing pop into their sound, their sound is already fairly weird and interesting to begin with though. Songs I would suggest: Koi no mega lover, Zetsubou Billy, Heisei Strawberry Vibe, and What's up, people!

When they sing "Death" at the end of the show they crucify the main girl singer in front of that statue.

You have completed the first of your 3 song free trial of BABYMETAL. In two songs or less, you will enter the "fox hole" and become a fan. I am subscribing in hopes of more reactions to BM!! Great reaction and good use of the pause to actually talk about things you're seeing and hearing, not just to put some inane question out there. Thankfully, you did research beforehand to at least have the gist of the group to go on. I have only been a fan for a little over a month, but they are friggin' awesome! A lot of people have and will recommend "Road of Resistance" Live in Japan for you to react to. It is a must, but BEWARE, the YT bots are out in force on that one and block it if you aren't careful, and even sometimes if you are. Best options: link & sync (which sucks for people watching on phones), or create an account on the Vimeo or Dailymotion web sites and upload the reaction(s) there, but put a video here about it and just ask that we watch the whole video here to keep your view numbers up. Their live stuff is where it is at, but their music videos are awesome and need to be seen for various reasons. Other great songs you need to checkout by BABYMETAL: "Megitsune" - both the official video and a live version. (older song) "Pa Pa Ya Featuring F. Hero" (newer song) "Da Da Dance" (newer song) "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" Sonisphere 2014 - This is where they broke out in the western music scene. It was their first big even outside Asia and they were warned the crowd can get pretty rowdy. They might be booed off stage or even have stuff thrown at them. By the end of their set, which was this song, they had the crowd chanting for more. "Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God Intro" - So good! (middle-ish song, not quite old or new. This is also only with the lead singer, Su or Su-Metal) "Karate" - both the official music video and their live version at Download 2016. The official video is a piece of art. (Same as the last) "Doki Doki Morning" - Their first song released and first video. You can see the massive difference in how they are now compared to then stylistically, musically, and budget-wise, not just age. SO many others to suggest!! Also, Yui and Moa, the background singers and dancers on either side of Su, the lead singer, sing their own songs and are called "Black BABYMETAL" because their songs are darker than the main ones with Su.

People that don't know anything about them and are expecting some kind of anime crap, really shouldn't start with this song. They have way harder music, and way better songs and better outfits. They've really evolved over the years from their beginnings to now. First album was very pop with metal in it. Second album was heavy on the metal side with pop themes. Latest album has been very experimental with them just playing with new stuff.

Welcome to your 1st step on the journey of Japanese music, just a quick warning, it's very addictive. Babymetal themselves don't do growling, I think your getting mixed up with Brooken By the Scream, a band tht's just nuts. There a strange thing about Japanese metal/rock it so good. Here are some other bands to check out, for now. Band-Maid Unlucky Morpheus Lovebites Fate Gear Mary's Blood Brooken By the Scream Doll$boxx

Please do BAND MAID they are probably the best band in the world right now and the best all girl band that the world has ever seen and they don't block. Try the recently released live version of DOMINATION that came out a couple of months ago from the line cube concert in Shibua.

Glad you're enjoying Babymetal. Gimmie Chocolate is, in my opinion, a horrible first impression song. This is more of a song to provoke the "WTF" reaction from people, which is why it's usually the most requested. If you're looking for some other good Babymetal songs to check out (which, imo better showcase their talent), try one of these: BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL): kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIWoioh8nLGpm7s BABYMETAL - KARATE (OFFICIAL): kzbin.info/www/bejne/faenZHZ-dplrpqM BABYMETAL - PA PA YA!! (feat. F.HERO): kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYCaimuEqNOeiMk BABYMETAL - Headbanger (live): kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3bWgJSDl7N5rdk BABYMETAL - MEGITSUNE: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXyWf4CQdrp-fdk As for copyright blocks, an idea to consider is if it gets blocked, you could upload the video to another site like dailymotion or vimeo, and then for youtube post a quick 1 minute video saying "Hey guys, we did this reaction but the KZbin bots are blocking it, so see the description for a link to dailymotion/vimeo/whereever". Not ideal, but better then wasting all that time video editing ;)
