Today, China has about 87,000 dams. As of 2020, China had more than 150 dams with generating capacity of more than 300 megawatts and installed capacity of 369 gigawatts. As of 2021, China operates four of the world's six largest dams.11 Apr 2024 China has built a number of hydro power stations in my country Fiji. The Monasavu Hydro Scheme that was successfully commissioned in 1983 was the first of it’s kind for my country. It has a generating capacity of 80MW and an annual energy yield of 400GWh. My country now generates hydro-powered energy from 4 hydro power plants across the country. In total, these hydro power plants has a capacity of 209.0 MW. God bless China.

@@s.t.i.rcr.a.z.y5284 It is the refraction of light. There are a large number of water molecules in the air near the dam. When they reach a certain concentration, they will form a refraction effect like glass. The pictures taken by high-altitude optical satellites will be affected by the refraction phenomenon and appear curved.

After watching a couple of the videos people made about this and reading a few articles, it basically amounts to nothing but dipshit western people trying to profit on fear mongering something made in China. The vast majority of the "proof" or evidence they present amounts to nothing. Some examples; Oh the dam is in an earthquake zone, all that water maybe makes earthquakes more likely, and a really BAD earthquake could damage the dam and kill everybody. There's also a lot of flooding, which the Yangtze is historically known for. The dam can handle X amount of water, in the worst flooding it's seen like 70% of the amount it can handle passed through absolutely and completely fine, as intended. But it could flood 3x worse for no obvious reasons and make the dam fail and kill everybody. There are several other, older dams upriver from this one. If THOSE fail it could make a big cascade failure and take out this dam too, and kill everybody. A lot of garbage and algae and other debris from upriver collects there, and if they completely ignore that for a really long time it could pile up so bad that the dam will clog or be damaged somehow and fail, killing everybody. Oh and let's not forget how much power that dam generates. If the dam fails and kills everybody, the power it produces will also vanish which will kill everybody all over again because of widespread blackouts. That's right, the dam failing is such a terrible scary thing that it would actually kill everybody TWICE. Videos/articles about this are again just asinine fear mongering from westerners trying to make money by pandering to people who don't know anything other than what they're told, which is often "China scary, China bad!". Just look around KZbin a bit and you'll find tons of similarly themed videos. My personal favorite are the ones that show up every few months detailing how China is absolutely on the brink of complete and total collapse and they can't possibly survive much longer...like bruh, they literally have the oldest continuous civilization on the planet, with a documented history of 5000+ years, China is REAL good at making sure China survives. They play the long game like nobody else, and people just don't like to accept that for some reason.

Is this had been in the west, not that it would even be contemplated in the first place, but if it did, you can always trust some corporations will own it and be charging $$$$$$$$$ to use the system.
