Sorry everyone i forgot to link the items. I can't find the direct link, but it's the Wimberley pp-400 ground clamp and PhotoTrust 5 in 1 pocket reflector on Amazon.

I really liked some of your abstract images like the two flowers from the bottom up picture and the water sprinkling getting shaken of the flower one. Really liked them

I still need to get a macro lens. I was leaning toward getting one of the lower prices EF mounts lenses, but then I learned that the RF 100mm can do 1.4x, and now I have my heart set on that one. Unfortunately it will be a while before I can get my budget set on that one. The knee pads are a great tip. I was taking some shots the other day and found myself kneeling on a path with itty bitty gravel and I thought to myself that I needed some knee pads. It was a lot more painful than I remember when I was younger. Must be that part you mentioned about being over 40.

I use bait, just like fishing..... but for insects.....find an area with movement and inside every flower sprinkle some grains of sugar or a small spot of honey and sit back and wait .......

Hi, I'm having a hard time getting bokeh. I have the 2.8 or more. I've used all the settings. Ap shutter auto program mode on my 5d mark 2. With canon 100mm f2.8 I also take photos with a far away background I blurrs but I can still tell what the background is. Even though it's far away?only mode haven't used yet is manual.

Some great ideas and novel compositions there, well done indeed! Macro on full-frame is surprisingly difficult when you're accustomed to cropped sensor cameras, because of the DoF issue you mentioned. My best results have been on an Olympus E-3 four thirds camera. I personally find it goes against the grain to set my aperture much smaller than f/5.6 and if I miss critical focus by a fraction the shot is ruined. But the RF 100mm f/2.8 is an excellent lens so having bought one, I really ought to perservere with it. Thanks for your valuable insight and advice.

Hey Paul. That's just an extension grip for the Canon RP. It allows a better grip overall sense the RP is small. I found it on Amazon.

great tips! I shoot with an old Sigma 105mm f/2.8. I've been practicing focus stacking with small flowers and bugs. I've actually done a few hand held shots as I manually move the focus ring. it's cumbersome, but doable. My problem when I go out to do Macro is fearing I'll miss a shot that may need the 500mm... 😂 great content, seems like you are on the same adventure path that I'm on.
@KevinNordstrom

hahaha i totally get that vibe as well with thinking I'm missing a shot for a longer focal length. I haven't played around with focus stacking yet. My editing is fairly weird lol. as I try to be more abstract and out of the norm. Thanks for the support, Chris and happy shooting.

Welldone Mr. Nordstrom on such a clear video clip. Well presented detail of the items you used. Your images of flowers/insects/etc - superb. The flexible arm to hold the deflector is such a good idea, that i have just ordered one. F.Y.I. Mr. Nordstrom, you have forgotten to add it to your gear list. But, i have located it on the internet, and it is a called a Wimberley PP-400 Ground Plamp ( Wimberley Manufacturers Part Number: PP-400 ). Thankyou for creating your YT videos..

A very good video on macro photography. Are you using a tripod ? You are right that the body after 40, 50 is heavy and it is good to put protection on the knees. Mosquitoes and ticks are bad when I take pictures. I wear a long sleeve shirt and a face coat. It's hard to stand when it's hot but it protects against mosquitoes. Greetings from Cracow, Poland.

Do you prefer mirrorless or DSLR?
@KevinNordstrom
@KevinNordstrom Жыл бұрын
I've only used DSLR very briefly with the 77d and t6i when I first picked up photography so I can't really give a good comparison. I've used mirrorless for the better of 90% of my time doing photography, however I see no real reason to say DSLR is bad. Mirrorless is just the future going forward

It will get even better if you spray with rainwater! Tap water has a much lower surface tension. Rainwater looks much better👌

One word my man. Permethrin. You can get it to treat your clothes and it lasts 6 washes or so, or you can send clothing items to a company that will pretreat them for like 9 bucks an item and THAT lasts like 70 washes. Good tick repellent. Other bugs too. Just found out about it a couple weeks ago. I get ticks on me constantly crawling around shooting these little critters....lol. Names Doug, btw. Forgot it shows bassassassin.
