Being a "Monday morning quarterback" BUT if England, France and USA had occupied Germany in 1919 and done more to stabilize the post-war economy perhaps there would never have been a Hitler come to power. The luftwaffe pilots were just defending their country - against overwhelming odds at that. Hitler did not deserve their loyalty and bravery.

@@captsaison9343 no they shouldn’t have even bothered German in WW1. Germany didn’t start it anyway and that’s been proven. When they defeated Germany they should’ve just left it alone and not put the balen on them and shame them. The Allies being there in WW1 and setting up the Weimar Republic and then the treaty of Versailles is what indirectly caused WW2 and Hitler to become so popular.

ja nee real respectful of you btw, anyhow, in regards to “Uncle Willy tormenting European civilians”. Number one, would you rather we would have let the German war machine keep going and kept the war going for many more years? Causing hundreds of thousands of not millions of more deaths. Or on the other hand we can bomb specific targets and take down the Germans infrastructure. Go ahead and make the argument that those specific targets were near civilian centers and that the bombs could hit them as well, let me know how accurate you could be at dropping a coin into a cup from on top of the Empire State Building. Also people that tend to make this argument for some reason seem to think that the Germans didn’t do something to warrant these bombings, ever heard of the Blitz. When Germany specifically targeted civilians in Britain? Not to mention it’s previous conflicts. And in regards to your reference to modern day bombings in the Middle East, it’s sometimes hard to tell who your enemy is when they don’t have a specific uniform. But I guess since you have such a strong opinion about this we can just send you to those places and have you ask politely if the targets are part of X terrorist organization. In conclusion, War is Hell. And it will continue to be until humans cease to exist, its all part of the way we people work. Unless you think you alone can change the way an entire species thinks, I advise you learn to have some respect for people that fought for your right to even post your comment on this website.

@@stevenbillz9880 When you bomb certain infrastucture close to a village (like railroad crossings, stations, bridges ... ) there can be collateral damage (in Belgium for instance Kortrijk (Station) or in Mortsel missing the Minerva factory (the VS hit a school instead)) But when you create firestorms in citys (Hamburg, Hannover and especially Dresden in '45 when the war was almost over) is that not like trying to drop a coin in a cup on the Empire State Building in New-York. The arms factories were not in the center of Dresden or Hanover. Your argument that the Germans bombed Londen (and Rotterdam) does not justify to do the same to civilians. By doing so the US and the UK lost a part of their credibility. When the US and the UK bombed German citys at random (woman, children ...) as 'revenge' for the blitz, in my view is that a crime of war (in principle also for the League of Nations) and at least should be criticized. Likewise for the Russians for what they did to the civilian population in East Prussia. It is not because the German army (especially the SS) committed a large number of crimes against civilians that you have to lower yourself and do the same. Raping young girls and woman (of all ages) or burning alive children, woman and elderly people is in my view not heroic. And by being critical does not mean that I do not respect the many soldiers (from wherever they came, some of them kids not much older than 18) who fought for the liberation of Europe. And I do not want to blame the pilot (orders are orders) but people like Bomber Harris should have been called to account.

@@alphonsepipo1948 Always have to be you idiots whining about poor citizens being bombed by the bad allies. Because of that kind of thinking, we have to let wars like in Iraq and Afghanistan to drag on for decades. If we could fight wars the right way like in WW11, we would have wrapped it up by 2003. But we can't do that anymore because people like you have made it politically incorrect in today's world to actually fight a war. Bad guys exploit that by living amongst Citizens. They post bs videos of civilians hurt that national news media spread to people like you who have over the years ruined our country's ability to fight.

Two DB605 in the air is a FANTASTIC achievement! I will however never fully understand the purpose of these mixed formations... Couldn't they just let the two BF-109's fly alone? Why add the Buchon Merlin and the Texan radial engine to the formation? Not very accurate, and more importantly, the different planes steal spotlight from eachother. They are all beautiful machines and deserve the very best exposure! (As for the "fake swastikas" ...this is as close to being historically correct you can get in Germany, since this symbol is banned there. This is (in my own eyes) a good compromise.) Thank you for this video! Love the DB605's!

Thank you! The T-6G was flown alongside for Air-to-Air footage. The two-seater is a converted to G-12 version Hispano Aviación H.A.-1112-M1L Buchon (formerly flew as a single-seat C.4K -169 in the Spanish Air Force, and also in the movie "Battle of Britain"). The current G-12 can also be equipped with a Daimler Benz DB 605 engine (in this configuration, it also flew the first time). Probably for reasons of economic efficiency and because there are more Merlin than DB 605 engines, the owner has decided to install a Merlin in this plane (which does not exclude that one day she also flies again with a DB 605;).

Magnificent! Hangar 10 is to be congratulated for the fine work and authentic restoration/reproduction using the HA-112 airframes and ultra-rare DB-605 powerplants. The pilot of the early 'G' model and a principal of Hangar 10 conducted a workshop discussion with a video at this year's 2018 EAA AirVenture, which I attended and asked questions of them. The pilot indicated other airframes are currently available to them for building up to bf-109 standards for future projects.

madcitymcflyer Planes Of Fame, Chino, CA, has a Bf 109 that came out of a lake in Russia. It started out as an -E1 and was later upgraded to -E7 and sent to the eastern front. My understanding is it was shot down by a cannon-equipped Hurricane. The pilot put it onto the frozen lake, and when it thawed, the aircraft sank. I believe the intention is to restore it to flight status. However, I think it tells a unique story as-is, with the visible damage left from it's encounter with the Hurricane.

Hi all. This is an nice video. I see that one of the aircraft, with the serial number 27, is not a original B 109. This is a version built in Spain in 1954 with a different engine (British one) and that it was in service till the end of the sixties. Hispano Aviación HA 1109 and HA1112. In total 172 aircraft were built. Is easy to see the differences between the two planes. The shape of the front due the size of the new engine needed more space and this is the reason that it was necessary to modify the original shape, giving the clear big mouth for a better air entry. The family name was "Buchón" similar at a pigeon chest.

Great photographic work. I wish that the Texan wouldn't have been in the mix as it was out of place. There must have been chills running down the spines of those who witnessed the war to once again see and hear these aircraft flying overhead. I noticed that the plexglass cockpit covers were different on all of the 109s. I wonder what the stories are between the three aircraft?

Then after 10 yrs they stopped.😢 As soon as I started getting books on them by the age of 10 I could name at least 25 even some bombers. My favs of all time is the F-4U for the Pacific and the P-51 for Europe.✌
