Does sage divide underground and send up new shoots? Or is it more like basil? It's in the mint family so I'd figure it'd put out new shoots. I love sage, I've got some in a pot and have just put a seedling I grew out in the garden a few weeks ago.

Great video. Question: What does it mean if some of my sage seedlings have stems that suddenly started to turn brownish, tough, and woody? These plants look like they are continuing to grow nicely. Is this normal or will the woodiness take over the whole thing in the near future? I'm trying to decide whether to prioritize those seedlings for having a more supportive stem, or to discard them for being unhealthy...

Hey, I am actually doing an over-seeding method with sage. If you only need a few plants I would thin them. What I am doing is just dividing the small cell into cups, once they get large. Then I will divide the cups in half. Some die out in process but you end up with 4 clumps of transplants.

Currently I'm experimenting with an indoor set-up, hydrogel based hydroponic using a regular flush of nutrient-rich water. I use a type of super-absorbent polymer for a sort of "soil replacement". Currently this is just an experiment, but still I need to ask, do certain plants just -require- soil? For seeds/seedlings I have set up a row of small containers that I put a mix of hydrogel in, then top it with porous cloth for water to transmit. Is this detrimental for sage growth?
@Sask321
@Sask321 11 жыл бұрын
Hey, I just planted some sage in actually the same small containers that you have there in the video! I was wondering if I can put them outside for the summer and then bring them inside for winter? Would that work? I live here in Canada it gets real cold in the winter! If I left it outside in the garden would it go to seed and then grow back next spring, or just die and not grow back? Thanks for the reply in advance!

Hello, I have recently began growing a bunch of herbs and other plants, and I have your standard Oregano, Thyme, Sage, Parsley, and then Lavender, as an extra, indoors. All of them are growing, and they started sprouting way quicker than most websites say they will. I see how your plants are looking after the times you say, and my plants have been there way longer, and they still look little..... Nothing like yours. But, they do grow daily. I'm wondering if I'm maybe doing something wrong? I figured at least my Sage is ready to repot, but then I watched this video, and realised it isn't.. any suggestions?
