The fact of the matter is the ANC did not build enough schools over the last 30 years, and one can only question why this is so? Most good schools are primarily supported by it's parents, not the state. So it's only right for it's parents (governing bodies) to decide on the primary language for a school.

And someone is making millions out of mimi bus contracts running to schools . Reason is that school are not build close to childrens residents. How many have died in accidents being transported this way. The backhand beneficiaries do not give a shit about our children as long as they make money.

I urge everyone to read the book "The Queering Of The American Child" by James Lindsay. It covers a way darker ideology. The Bela Bill is the SA version. It's a lot bigger than what you discussing.

Anc government is the one that gave these schools control in 1990s but after 30 years of schools not fixing the language issues in school and other complaints from people. I think it makes sense for government to take that control back

Oh goodie!😢 Just in time for the new school year. I've been a victim of xenoglossophobia. From childhood I've experienced physical and verbal abuse by Afrikaners because I am English speaking, still now, I'm called a rooinek. Ironically, both sides of my family can be traced back to very, very well known stamvaders. Both sides fought in all the wars and incarcerated in Ceylon and Pietersburg british concentration camps. I don't want the Afrikaner culture destroyed. All citizens of South Africa have the right to be taught in their home language. Culture, creed and religion should not be used as a weapon by politicians. Win elections on merit, nothing else. In fact ANY politician using any of the 3 should be charged criminally.😢😢😢

😂Ridiculous how do you negotiate for something that belong to you? The problem with the Afrikaner is they are very lenient they don't really care, what happen must happen I mean look at the state of this country it is falling apart. When will the Afrikaner stand up and say enough is enough? This law will be implemented in full and if not now then it will happen soon anyway. I will never sign any petition whatsoever to stop this BELA bill for the simple reason you don't negotiate about anything that belong to you, secondly the ANC have never give any attention to signed petitions, they just don't believe in it.

Afrikaans schools have the same pride and discipline that you normally only find in fancy private schools. You can enrol your child in DF Malan, Bellville, Durbanville, Brackenfell, or Stellenberg (sorry to those I've missed) here in the Cape Town northern suburbs and you'll get the same discipline and education you'd have to spend thousands more at one of those fancy catholic private schools in the Southern Suburbs.

Nonsense, Many Coloured schools have always have two mediums of teaching in schools during apartheid and beyond. These schools never became single language schools after 5 years. They are still to this day two medium of language schools. Be honest, the only reason why it becomes all English is because when other races move in Afrikaners and other Whites move out of the school and when that happens it will become all English.

You had the benefit of being a school for coloured people only. With more or less the same culture, whether you spoke one language or the other. Probably more or less the same social backgrounds too. but what happens in the Afrikaans schools who go double medium is that they bring in the kids from the townships with their drug and violence problems and then we pull out our kids for their own safety. And so that they can actually get an education. I was in such a school too. we couldn't get any work done because there was always some interruption or other. I had to move to a new school or else I would have never been able to pass matric.
