i got quite excited in November when Gridserve were emplacing six new chargers at Rownhams Eastbound M27. They were quickly completed and 'lit up'. Awaiting just the painting of the Bays. There has been no progress since. They are still surrounded by fencing. A couple of days ago Heris Fencing appeared in the parking area at Rownhams Westbound, followed quickly by workmens huts, it looks lkie a dozen new chargers are planned.. All I want to know is when? Updates will follow when I find out more.

Interesting video, I work as a Project Manager installing Bus Fleet EV chargers across the UK and as you can imagine we have a lot of interaction with DNO and National Grid whilst installing additional power to the sites. An additional note to take away is we encounter a lot of delays due to legal process. We sometimes have a lawyer chain including NG/DNO/Client/ICP/Landlord(site owner). The power will not be switched on until all the legals are completed regarding the grid connection and this is a classic piece of string length scenario

just some info for you Dave, there is a lot of ground clearing work currently taking place @ Tebay North services directly adjacent to the petrol station forecourt, as you go in to the services it is on the right hand side of the forecourt, looks like they are either widening the forecourt and/or prepping for more ev bays ??, i am there twice a week with work and yesterday(friday) there was a noticeable clearnace difference to earlier in the week :) :)

Crazy how slow it can be, hopefully things will start speeding up on the final connections.

Hi Dave Been watching for a while now and really enjoy the info and points you make. I noticed on a video a couple of weeks ago you seemed to have a website showing new Charging locations that are still under construction. I've not been able to find that using searches so any chance you could let me know where it is? Cheers

The EG ones at Matrix have been removed completely now. Someone has been told they’re being replaced with Tesla superchargers instead

Chargers removed yes, to be replaced with V4s no. I got the real story today, video uploading in next day or two, Dave

Speaking from experience of trying to plan cable routes, legal issues with rights of ways, access, road crossings and even duct sharing can all take months to resolve. Even for what appear to be the simplest of jobs.

It might be an idea to see if you could persuade your local MP to ask a suitable question in Parliament about it. Civil servants hate being embarrassed by parliamentary questions.

I don’t think these sites are the only ones with chargers installed but they are not working. What I don’t understand about the charging network is why is Tesla so far in front of other charging network companies of which I think there are over 14 companies now unless it’s to do with the amount of money that has been invested in the Tesla charging network.

Elon realised early that success in car sales meant building infrastructure. Every other manufacturer treats EV's like petrol cars... Someone else solves that part. Tesla vertical integration and manufacturing methods mean that they can churn out Superchargers on a block for a set, ready to go. It's a completely different model and throw in their pricing, the others are just so far behind.
@alanhowemusic245710 ай бұрын
@@djtaylorutube You have hit the nail on the head. All the other EV charger company’s out there are just making money topoor Electric Car owners who purchase any other EV manufacturer other than TESLA. It’s like the EV charger Wild West out there in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland, and now the Government are saying to the car manufacturers that they MUST sell at least 22% EV sales this year and if not each ICE car that is sold brand new there will be penalty of £15,000 per ICE car sale Wow that is a hefty penalty that all car manufacturers don’t need don’t need right now as new EV car sales at the moment are on a downward trend. I can see that manufacturers will consider pulling out of the UK car market and that will mean that the likes of Chinese BYD and GWM and other will have a free market to expand into.

@@alanhowemusic2457 Yes and Tesla also operates as an energy provider and deposits megapack battery storage, skirting then to buy cheaper night time energy. Others don't seem to do that, in fact Dave recently covered one that dies have batteries but they're just playing catch up on a small scale. CPO's are buying in individual, very expensive chargers and disadvantageous energy pricing, leading to high costs and frankly, cartel pricing. I think it was Gridsetve recently that said "We are raising our pricing to align with the industry standard." Seriously WTF is industry standard pricing?! I replied to their tweet saying that they had just posted a nice advert for Tesla. I don't see how they expect to have an ROI?

Isn't it funny that when Tesla wants it done it's done
@johniooi395410 ай бұрын
Even more funny is that 2 of the installs being talked about are Tesla & still not working months later. So no even Tesla can't get it done... In fact the Tesla @ Birch Westbound were there when I went to pick my E-Niro up at end of August 2023, all nicely wrapped in white plastic.

It all makes sense once you take the time to realise that the wheels are now falling off the EV market. Investors won't keep throwing money at installing chargers, if demand isn't there, to ensure good returns. All the easily manipulated bait takers went early, and now things are slowing up. The uncertainty over support duration for older products is going to further screw the used EV market. If you disagree, just look at the share value trends of EV manufacturers over the past 6 months. Don't forget that is also happening in a heavily incentivised market.
@robertedge632610 ай бұрын
Just listen to yourself, bleating about incomplete installations of charger points, those of us still driving ICE vehicles don't have that anxiety you have. EVs have their place as a city/town runaround but that's where it stops
