I just tried it, and it looks like original Gameboy (sadly GBC and GBA games don't quite fit because of the bulge at the top of them) into Switch cases. They are thinner than the Nintendo DS game cases and are widely available right now. Maybe you could go over those in an episode? EDIT: A thought just came to mind, you could do some really neat inlay art on the reverse of the cover that would make it look really cool.
@TopSpot1235 жыл бұрын
That's a pretty good idea for those who haven't chosen a solution yet. It'll take a bit of work to make each custom cover though. Maybe if it were to catch on, it could be added to the coverproject.net. Here's a couple of links to the cases. store.nintendo.com/ng3/us/po/browse/productDetailColorSizePicker.jsp?categoryNav=true&navAction=jump&navCount=0&atg.multisite.remap=false&productId=prod870012&categoryId=cat831379 amzn.to/2SDbWrC

Love watching this series! Personally, I have a very small gba collection so I used to use empty cassette cases, where i would put the game right in the middle of the clips instead of cutting them out. I would make custom art since I love making projects myself. However recently, I switched to ds cases. I don’t have cover inserts for them, so I’m using my old cassette covers for now, but the gba games are nice and snug, and with some light cutting, the cases could fit gameboy games

Great idea! I had never thought of this insert idea before but I have been doing something similar for years. I've simply put end label stickers on my games on the outside of the plastic protectors for my GB/GBC/GBA games and then I keep them in small totes. Sometimes the stickers lose their adhesion to the textured plastic on the outside of the protectors over time so it's not a perfect solution, but I have found this can be mostly remedied by using a glue stick or putting a thinly cut piece of glass tape over it. I used plain black and white text but have thought of maybe stylizing them at least a bit. Great video! It seems like you up the production value with each one and it's always a treat to watch. Also, Happy New Year!

I've heard of people labeling the cases like that. Is that a label on the top? It would seem to be trickier to label the side that way. In any case it's still an improvement from no label at all. I thought up one of my own ideas (ultimately unimplemented so far, but it might help someone). If one of your disc-based console games has a damaged or missing case, you can put it in a jewel case, and if you really want a cover for it, then you can make one based on the dimensions of the jewel case (works best with Wii Sports, Link’s Crossbow Training, or any other game that came in a square[ish] sleeve/case, though I imagine if you’re creative enough you can make it work even if the original case was rectangular).

I think I'll just stick with 3ds cases to house my gameboy, gameboy color, and gba games. 3ds cases are easier to obtain (since they can be ordered directly from Nintendo via their official website), they require no modification, and there is little image editing required to make the cover art fit the dimensions of the case. The white of the case also helps the cover art pop.

I made one for the Game Gear and the Neo Geo Pocket Color because these games both came with cases originally. The templates didn't really work well on either just due to the case design and plastic, they weren't really readable. GBA games didn't originally come with official cases. Third party cases could have different designs causing the same problems. But I don't really have cases for my GBA games anyway. You are welcome to give it a shot yourself! There are also other GBA game solutions on my channel. Thanks a lot!

Good one, lol. There are so many different things that could cause that so its a bit tough to troubleshoot, but be sure that you go into the image settings tab in the print dialog. Double check that the Width and Height are still 8.5 in and 11 in (for the full page sheet) and the resolution is 300 for both X and Y ( topspot123.files.wordpress.com/2020/05/print.png ). @@TopSpot123 Hi, Sorry to bother again, But Whenever I try to change the image resolution in "Image Settings" to 300x300, it automatically changes the print dimensions to 6.2x8.1. instead of 8.5x11, X:300 Y:300. And when I set it to be 8.5x11, the resolution changes to X:221.176 x Y:221.176. Any idea why that would be the case?
@TopSpot1234 жыл бұрын
After some investigation, I think I see what happened to you and a few others. My site is supposed to link directly to the full-sized image file when you click on the picture, but I think it's showing a reduced-size preview instead that you probably saved. If you go back and check, it gives you an option for "view full size" right below the comment button if you scroll down from the picture preview. This was supposed to happen automatically. At any rate, in Gimp you can go to Image>Scale Image and set the right size and resolution before you print, or at least set the right image size in the image settings tab of the print dialog. But it will be a bit blurrier than it should be because you've last almost a third of the intended resolution. Preferably you can get the full-sized image file and start over, but I'll leave that to you to decide. I'll work on my website over the weekend to try to correct this. I'm sorry for the confusion, but thank you for reaching out.
