Took me and my mate a long time to venture into The Ship as it had a reputation of being a bit of a rough house, but it was actually ok. As a kid in the 60's, it always seemed to have at least one window boarded up every Saturday morning so maybe that's where i got the idea from.

I think a few pubs have been like that at one time or another, a sign of a good pub was a boarded up window ha ha

It looked like a huge pub, was it as big inside as it looked from the outside?

Was brought up in Sharpe road the commercial pub at the bottom of the street hung around there as a kid went in for a pint just days before it got demolished think it was 1973

My mam lived round that way but sadly I can't remember the pub very well at all

Dad used to drink there and that's where we used to take ' empties' back to get a few pennies back on the deposit.

@@jennytalia226 used to pinch brown ale bottles from the carville then take them to the commercial we done it for weeks till we got caught
