KZbin has to introduce a "love" option besides like. Mr Neal Halliman, you love your job so much that you know beyond your limits. You got the word Samsara right. And about the "western life", this is true to us Indians where Buddhism was born. Indians are so much into the material world that we wanna become engineers, doctors, scientists and want to settle in US, Aus, Europe etc. You have much more knowledge on Buddhist subjects that an Indian might do. I have attended Vipassana 10 days meditation programme so I know what you are talking about. You are doing a great job Mr Halliman. It's a bliss to watch your videos. Love from Bharat (India).

incredible, I have been thinking on this related philosophy since my pain started at a younger age, but I could never put these into the my personal perspective and really lived in it. until the year that I worked so hard to rid of my pain(didn't come across PRI at the time, and it was a long solitude with myself) , I found the relaxation and liberation after it. a year later my pain came back, and I know I had been chained by so many outer influences. Dear Neal, your perspective in PRI grounded my rumination towards these types of philosophies. deep down I know, we all feel the same way to be relaxed, I felt that, I want to have more of the degree in terms of the ability to maintain it through PRI integrations. vice versa, it is the same way we feel to be suffered in bodily pain. two sides, one way. Thank you my superhero.

You're pretty cool. I found tons of relief from doing qi gong, their idea of flow and balance with movement balanced me out. Didn't know about the whole symmetry thing until I found your videos. I think following your bliss is like a child having play time. It energizes me to do something that reminded me of karate, without the difficulty.

I do qigong too and slowly trying to relate PRI and neuro concepts to the practice. It actually blends perfectly. The shift, the flow, the expansion and contraction correlates beautifully with qigong and taichi practices. 🩷

The second quote makes me think of the Bhagavad Gita. This video is brilliant. To calm the physical body down you have to calm down the mind and hence the brain. The central nervous system controls everything.
@NealHallinan2 ай бұрын
The 2nd quote was from a book called "The Secret Oral Teachings inTibetan Buddhism Sects" by a French woman who traveled and lived in Tibet studying Buddhism. I heard about the book through an Alan Watts lecture (I think) It's quite fascinating. I'm sure the saying has its origins in the Bhagavad Gita.

🩷🩷🩷 Neal! I love this, and don't forget, when you are in your bliss you radiate it. And YOU do! I remember meeting you back in New York after a PRI course and we chatted a bit on the way to the subway, it was the beginning of my PRI journey and it was really exciting but what was even more exciting is HOW you talked about it. It made me feel more comfortable to meet someone who is also not a PT, and it was very encouraging and helpful. It was great to hear someone is sooo involved in the subject and lives it everyday. Thank you Neal forever! ps.: i lllooooovvveeee your spin off topics and videos. 🩷

Hi Bori! I do remember our conversation. I'm happy to hear I was able to help put you at ease. It is a very intimidating subject, and you do assume the PTs understand it better than we do because they are PTs....but then you realize that isn't even close to being the case (it may even be a hinderance). Hope you are doing well!

Good timing of video with quotes. As a PT, it's easy to get caught up in the Golden chain and struggle with compassion fatigue or feeling defeated when you cannot help some individuals. Letting go and finding my bliss both in personal and professional interests in spite of challenges has been what brought me back from burnout. Also like how you intertwine the ANS in your discussion

Joseph Campbell's television interviews with Bill Moyers electrified me. As well as 'follow your bliss', I recall reading his insights about the sacrificial nature of relationships, the "give and take' aspect. Another beautiful teaching from a true sage.

Please anyone, listen. If you changed your posture due to something traumatic, if it started with an emotional problem, do not, do any pri excercises, to alter your posture, that is a VERY dangerous road to go down and the roots need to be dealt with in the right way if its emotional, you need to reach out, express them let them all out. Do not let them continue to have a hold on you.

Isn't the iron chain referencing being a slave to someone else's desires? And then subsequently the golden chain would mean having material possessions but still being tied down / lacking freedom / being beholden to someone?
@strahinja95Ай бұрын
Hello, I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction. I have some lower back issues and I noticed that when I load the left side of my lower back I feel a tightening and eventually painish like sensation. When I say load it I mean with exercises like split stance dl, rowing with alternating reaching, mostly with asimetrical exercises. Last time I tested myself with Conor Harris's or PRI spectrum of patterns I found I was oriented a bit to the left a bit to the right so I chose 90/90 right sidelying left glute max, and left sidelying abduct and shift which improved my tests drastically, but still the lower back issue remains. Also had cases where during a barbell squat one side shifts and then the left lower back tightens so much that I feel pain. Same thing. Grounded Hemispheric Occupational Performance Exam(G-HOPE) from Applied Integration Academy shows that left side is having trouble going from left to right as I am having trouble pushing out during level 5, and on the right side I can do it. Also when I sit on the ground with straight legs I am super tight, and when I try to reach my toes my lower back starts to irritate, like some kind of a nerve pinching. I would like to know if I can do anything else with PRI techniques or it's time to switch methods. Thank you in advance.

I got an upper teeth splint, not lower teeth. My dentist refused to make it for the lower teeth. Will it still work? At least a little bit? Or do I need to go to a different dentist?
@NealHallinan2 ай бұрын
It depends on why it was made. Sometime they are find for PRI purposes. You can only tell through testing.
@dennisodischew72012 ай бұрын
@nealhallinan How can we test it? I wanted it for the lower teeth because of my lower neck muscles( the muscles from the chin to the chest) and for the left teeth awareness. my kinesiologist found out about it too that my left jaw is the problem without knowing your videos, he is incredible. He worked with Olympic athletes . He knows everything and he also told me that I need a splint for the lower jaw not the upper jaw with the splint for the upper jaw only my wisdom teeth touch and only a corner of them. It is it feels like a spike. Is that OK for teeth awareness? Is it useless? If this comment section is too much for you, we can also text per email Thanks

I find the perspective of psychoanalysis interesting. According to Lacan when we get introduced to language (learning to talk) we move from the pure sensory realm to the “symbolic”, and we loose our sense of unity and completeness with the world. This gap of what we can say and what it is gives us a feeling of “lack”. And then that fuels desire (you word it as craving). Probably there’s also more components driving us forward, like our biology. The problem is that then we think we can attain completeness, getting stuck with striving for several things and at the end realizing they didn’t help. What this theory suggests is that you cannot stop the craving. I find this very accurate, I don’t feel like the lack ever goes away, or the desire. But making it conscious helps to direct the desire to what really feels fulfilling (art, study, etc), with no expectation of happiness other than the enjoyment of the act itself. And that can bring contentment, even if it doesn’t “fix” us. In this perspective, desire is actually what you should follow for a well-lived life. It sounds like what you say, just thought differently.
@NealHallinan2 ай бұрын
I agree. You can't stop craving/desire. It's normal biology, and if directed in a positive direction it is generally useful. Find out what your bliss actually is, and then organize your thoughts/cravings/desires around the bliss..but always be aware of the trap of attachment...like the golden chain analogy. That's my philosophy anyway...
