Absolutely fascinating. Chinese medicine also confirms this -- kidneys are energetically connected to the psoas and hip flexors, and the emotion of the kidneys is fear! I've struggled with tightness in these muscles for my entire life to the point where my chiropractor described them like "guitar strings". But I'm happy to say that as I have healed my old emotions and traumas as well as healing myself mentally and physically my muscles feel so much better!! Thanks for the awesome video :)

My osteopath said my intestine was shifted on the right. She said that there are organs which attach to the illacpsoas. In other words, your gut can cause psoas and hip flexor pain and inflammation or vice versa. Gut shifts the muscle or muscle shifts the gut. It makes sense that healing the gut including the kidneys would help with psoas. Dont discount CNS, though. The brain, gut, and CNS are all connected. If one is off, the other two will surely follow. You have to treat all three simultaneously for pain and inflammation.

Yassss! I love this! I’ve been talking about this connection for a hot minute and have had some profound experiences with physical theater, clowning ,improv / musical improv and vocal lessons. I thought these intense hours in workshops would be hard physically. Although I was tired after 5 days I felt better than I have in quite a long time. It really felt like zero tension in my body. So beautiful, I want to share it 🎉❤

I can relate so much to you Neal. I have been working in IT since my 20s I am 42 now and my right side of the the body is just screaming for help every time i start my working day. I didn’t change job yet cause I don’t really know what I want to do . I took a year break a while ago to start building a pattern of good habits ( yoga healthy food and fitness ) but as you rightly say that doesn’t certainly fix the problem. So I m still doing what I m doing but I try to integrate self expression activities in my daily routine. I must say yoga and acupuncture help my brain to relax when done in the proper way ( through correct breathing ). I must admit my biggest fear is to not be able to get the same money I make as an IT professional if I choose another path. It takes courage to do what you did so massive respect for your work.

thank you so much for your videos! In June there was a pretty big incident at my work with a colleague who shouted at colleagues several times over the course of two weeks and bad-mouthed their work and then it ended up affecting me too. We were in an office of four and in the situation I tried to defend myself, but at the same time I knew that I couldn't fight fire with fire, so I kept the emotions inside. Of course the bosses also got involved and there were individual discussions in which I was told that everything was normal, that things like that happened. Kind of "As women, we should let it go" bla bla bla. Other departments that noticed the incident were also afraid to speak out against the colleague mentioned. That's when I developed quite a bit of pain and stiffness in my hips, psoas. After things didn't improve, I quit in October and had to cry when I left the company that day. I felt more free, both emotionally and physically, than I had in months. I was able to walk normally again without the feeling that my pelvis ist getting pulled forward. I still have a lot to do with it, I have the feeling that it has made me more sensitive to stress, but now having a job where I can feel safe and problems are communicated openly helps enormously! thank you for your clarification! I thought I was crazy! Greetings from Germany

Excelente video.

Fantastic video, Neal. I love how you are integrating quality of life and behavioral influences into one's animation of their own body. This is completely coherent with our approach to vision rehabilitation. When we feel safe, our peripheral vision is more accessible, and we have much more time to anticipate interactions from our surroundings, as well as to respond from a neutral and available place. When we prescribe lenses therapeutically, these objectives are also supported, in a passive, non-conscious way. Glad to be part of the "tribe" as well!

From personal experience, walking is difficult these days due to what feels like an SI problem. I have tried your trick of listening to music at a suitable pace while walking and it works like magic! The only thing happening being me relaxing and thinking of something other than looking down, bracing myself and expecting the worst :-) I have also noticed how everything worsen when I am in a specific (emotionally charged) setting, details unimportant, but it has be thinking that it is perhaps less about the furniture and the person I am with when this occurs and more about my emotional connection to the person/situation ....

Think C vitamin (multiple intakes during a day with sufficient amount of water), think supplementing iodine, zinc and selenium. In my opinion, people with PRI issues have "stuck nervous system" which is a symptom of mineral malnutrition or hypothoiroidism (low hormons) or smth of that sort. Of course, physical activity and pschychological tools are necessary but deficiency of nutrients is key. In my experience.

thanks for the great content. I understand that you are saying if one is unhappy/stressed, doesn't matter how many pri or stretching they do, they will eventually get back to the pattern. But do you think if one changed their life from stressed to happy, will the pattern automatically goes away without any pri training?
@NealHallinan
@NealHallinan 2 ай бұрын
The left AIC pattern is built into your very existence as as asymmetrical human. That is not the issue. The issue is an over-reliance on the pattern. So for some people, yes. It's not much different than John Sarno's observation that when many of his patient's learned that their back pain had no structural reality, their back pain went away. But that doesn't work for everybody.

My low left back tightens up, I literally for the life of me cannot get into my left hip, much less feel my left adductor. It’s so frustrating I can’t take it anymore. My left hip hurts constantly and I have chronic costochondritis (rib pain) that does not cease. I’m going to literally lose my entire mind. I would discourage you from trying an eye patch. While you may have asymmetry between the eyes, the brain craves binocular visual input, particularly for peripheral navigation. You might try seeking input from a provider with expertise in visual function (behavioral or developmental optometrist). You may find a provider with COVD, College of Optometrists in Visual Development. The demonstration with the patient showing an immediate difference with her eye closed was more of a diagnostic test, confirming that there is a binocular vision problem. It was not a recommendation to patch her eye as a solution. I hope this is helpful!

Unfortunately not. Human asymmetry is the starting point for PRI, but no other discipline it seems. The things I show with music, rhythm, a kiss, acting....all releasing hip flexors and tension, is my personal addition to the Postural Restoration perspective. It's not PRI as it is taught.

@@NealHallinan It's kind of crazy that just until now people are noticing the asymmetry. Is it possible to have an online assessment with you? or it's needed for that to be in person?
