This is my personal experience after took Japanese hair straightening.
Honestly, I didn't like the result, and I regretted my decision a lot.
This is why I upload this video to share what this hair straightening really is. However, I know some people satisfy with the result. In spite of this, I just wanna inform the negative side of this operation because the Internet usually shows positive and good results of it and tend to hide the negative side of it. Therefore, I hope this video will help you to make a decision!

Actually he is right. It takes an enlightened mind to understand what he means. A few years ago I was going to do this as I was tired of relaxing my hair with semi permanent relaxers. Eventually I decided against it for this very reason. Identity is very complex and is a collection of various pieces of your, your life and your world. My curls are not only an inheritance but they are also a piece of the puzzle that individualises me, making up my "uniqueness"

I got the japanese done in August 2019, as I had curly, freezy and unmanageable hair, and I used the hair straightener EVERY single day of my life, sometimes even 2 times a day as it would get bad with humidity. I don't know the product or type, but as my hair was really fragile from using the hair straightener everyday, the hairdresser used a mild one, and as far as today 21 february 2020, I LOVE LOVE THE RESULTS, and I'm absolutely satisifed. Your hair will look great, super shiny and straight like never before. After the treatment, the only time that I used a hair machine again was in new years eve as I got some soft curls for the celebration, but never more. My hair straightener has been stored in my wardrobe since then and I spend way less time when getting ready. As today the treated hair is still straight, I only have my curly regrowth which I will treat soon. My suggestion is, if you get your hair straight everyday, go for it! It will save you plenty of time, and your hair will get restored. By the way, since I got the treatment and stopped using the hair straightener, my hair grows so fast that I'm sick of it LOL I pretty much dye my hair, and have new regrowth after 3-4 days. By the way, my hairdresser took something like 5-6 hours on medium hair, this treatment will take some time, so don't trust "fake professionals" who will take about an hour to do that, as they don't know what they're doing.

LITERALLY THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I use the flat iron literally everyday or every other day 😣 I feel guilty everytime because I’m damaging my hair. I have wavy, frizzy, unmanageable hair as well. I recently thought about doing this. This made me feel a little more comfortable with my decision. Yes of course I was planning on going to a professional salon/hair dresser. Thank you so much 🥺, but I have 2 questions: I want my hair to be dyed a light brown, so do I have to wait a while AFTER I’ve done the treatment? Or before? My second question: is your hair dry at the ends after the treatment? Do they recommend products to use to make them shiny and healthy looking?
@ConserveMore

You definitely need a professional to do this procedure! The risk if damage is high. But as far as identity goes, some people solely identify with straight hair so it is great for them.

I did it and never regretted it. My wavy hair grew back and it wasn't as drying as i thought it may be so I didn't need to cut off much length. Just go to a place that does this regularly like an Asian salon. I also had Brazilian keratin done but it only lasted for approximately 3 months. The thing about Japanese straightening is that it's extremely flat for the first few weeks but as the roots grow out, the hair has a bit more body which i prefer.

If anything, straight hair is dirty, because the oil and sebum travels a lot faster from the root down the hair, making it greasy, smelly and in need of constant washing. For my wavy/curly hair to get to that level of dirtiness it would take a week of not washing it, whereas a pin straight, asian type of hair it takes skipping a washing day. And don't tell me they all wash their hair every day.. So I wonder who's dirty really...

Okay, so I just gotta talk - And to be clear: All he says is from his PERSONAL experience and you do not have to listen to anything to change your decision until you professionally get your hair looked at and done. So from what I picked from this.... Uh, Some of these reasons he made sound more like a universal issue more then a personal. Hair in a norm, does in fact grow back in time. You will not lose your "identity" and you do not have to cut all your hair off, all hair gets damaged, this is normal for many hair treatments. Also, something like a perm, which this is MUST be done by a PROFESSIONAL (imo) which means, yes you do have to spend money. Before doing that, I believe you should get your hair looked at by the salon you are going to do the perm and see what they recommend. I had perms in my hair and some old hair stylist I had said I shouldn't but then others said, nah it's fine, due to my hair. For some hair, it is good, like mine, for others, no. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT!!! I say, if you want to try the Japanese Straightening perm, do research and talk to a professional at the salon, don't do it on your own. Do that, then make a choice. Just please note that it will go back in time, and only go back if you like it. (In one channel I watched, the lady only went back a year later but said her personal pros and cons.) If you dunno how it will be for you and you wanna try after getting looked at, do ettttttt! But know its a long term thing. ^^

All chemicals on everyone's hair will damage they here if not being taken care of and yes once you put chemicals on your hair to straighten your hair or curl your hair you have to take extra care and yes it should be done by a professional I do understand that but that is a person's choice just like going natural is a person's choice but anyone that put chemicals in their hair whether it's dies or straightening their hair anything that is not natural like oils and plant base dies they're going to damage the hair anytime you go to get something done to your hair any process study it read about it and make your right decision because it's your hair

-I've had the Japanese straightening done a few times and I only get it redone once every year because getting it done less reduces the damage on your hair. While my hair is growing out I just straighten the roots like once a week after I wash it and it looks normal again. But then again, this depends on the hair type. My hair is really curly and a bit thick but it's not like it can't be managed at all. For me to straighten my roots it only takes me an hour and a half. Depending on your hair type it may take more or less time. -I'm extremely happy with the way my hair looks when it's straight. It has boosted my self confidence so much and I have never felt happier. I never plan on going back. I absolutely despised my natural hair and I had a lot of confidence issues back when I had it. Please,, to anyone out there who wants to get it done, make sure you want it for life, because once you do it, it's extremely hard to go back. -I do agree with what you said about your hair looking dry and damaged. But there may be a way to reduce the damaged look??? I have no idea because I've never really looked into it, but if anyone has any suggestions please tell me. -ALSO ONE MORE THING: You will NOT lose your hair overtime because of this treatment. It's literally a myth. The only way you may lose your hair because of this treatment is 1. You do it without a professional/it's done incorrectly 2. You use unknown products 3. Your hair type is not suited for this type of treatment (which is why you should consulted first) 4. You do your roots while you have the treatment or use an unknown product on it (You can only dye your hair,, but NEVER EVER do roots because your hair will fall of instantly) Seriously you should pay the extra money to have it done in a salon. Would you rather have no hair, or pay the extra money to get it done properly. i would definitely pay.

I don't know why everyone wants to permanently straighten their hair but it's your choice. But only do it because you want to don't confuse straight hair for good hair because good hair is any hair that is naturally yours and healthy. Remember, to be proud of who you are because your hair shows your culture and ethnic background. If you do this like he said you will lose your identity altogether. But do what you want and do it because YOU want to.

I'm really confused on what you mean by "good" hair. If you mean healthy hair getting a one time treatment is better for your hair than straightening every day. And if you mean it's not "good" hair because its not natural then- 😐

never thought of Japanese hair straightening lol, my mum asked if i wanted my hair straightened (she isn't sure if it's safe so she'll see, if it damages my hair then i aint doing it) i hate my hair because it's extremely difficult to manage: i wish had straight hair, it'd be easier to tie my hair

I mean the 1st point is kida funny, btu also kinda true too...You are naturally harder to remember with the most common hair, which is straight hair. You dont really lsoe your identity of course, but you will have a harder time making an impression by looks only.

As someone who has really curly hair, I want straight hair so bad not because I think it looks good. Having curly and frizzy hair is a pain in the ass and it takes an hour of more to brush it at that state. With straight and not frizzy hair it takes me 5 seconds to brush it and its so much easier to maintain and style. i can put my hair in a ponytail in 10 seconds when its strait but it takes 10 minuets when its not.

I have been getting Japanese straightening since 1996 in NYC, Miami and Washington DC over 30-40 times all from Japanese hair salons with Japanese hair stylists. I love it. It does not dry or damage hair at all. It stays silky and straight forever. You just need to re- touch when hair is growing more than 2 inches for so.. Sorry! I opposed 100% to what he is saying here.

@@everydaygrace6310 I went Ozuki Salon in year 2017 only once since it was on my vacation and I live in Colorado now. I do not remember stylist's name but he was a Japanese guy from Japan most likely in his 30th.. I just checked their website and most likely my stylist was Mr. Yamashita. If so, he did such a great job for both Japanese straightening as well as hair cut and nice person. I recommend going there 100%.

I did it 4 months ago. Best decision I have ever made. I did make sure that all my highlights were grown out. My hair is the healthiest I’ve had at this length because I haven’t touched it with a blow dryer or flat iron.

I agree it does make you’re hair straight but it makes you’re hair pin straight like a little girl from the grudge I had really pretty curly hair and i regret it so much I tried everything to reverse it and nothing now I have to wait for my new growth to completely grow back and cut the hair at the ends because when you do Japanese straightening it doesn’t go away you must cut the hair to get rid of it because it will always stay straight so if you had curly hair you’re new growth will come back curly but from the Japanese straightening the old hair will stay straight you must cut it off and while you have this treatment you must take care of You’re hair and keep it healthy so when you get the new growth the new hair grows back healthy! And your right it does take a toll on you’re hair I have bought so many products for it recently for damage

A lot of ethnic women use sodium & calcium hydroxide to straighten their hair . The results are nice at first but if you don’t take care of it , it’s a disaster and the results also vary , you’ll never know the outcome and the chemicals are not good for the scalp and hair may break or become dry lack luster.

My hair is not my identity tho :/ I can just get a buzz cut wnen I want a change again Honwstly about hair looking dry and all my hair grows naturally in a way that it looks and is dryer than it should be, when my hair is straightened which I haven't done for preserving reasons, the natural oils of my scalp get spread on the lengths of my hair better Actually when I was younger and would straighten my hair everyday I was able to let them grow way longer than my nagural hair because of the damage that clmes with just living with my natural hair haha I understand your point of view, I just think it is very decisive and generalised when it's not actually true for everybody

I wanted to try this method. But don't want to put the straighter in my hair wash it then the flat iron it then put it back the straighter in my hair I just the straighter in my hair then wash it out put a neutralizer then add shampoo then. Conditoner, then deep conditioner sit on the hood dryer for 10-30 minutes rinseand style as I desire that's it I'm their is a better healthier way to do this ling process in much lesser time I hope Thanks for this video✊🙌🙏

Heyo, I'm sorry you fell you lost your identity by the straightening. I hope it makes you feel a little better knowing I gained my identity by the straightening. I had unruly curly/wavy hair. they kind that couldn't decide which way to curl, and I live in a extremely humid environment. The damage comes from the loss of proteins and vitamins in your hair as a product of thermal reconditioning. However, did you know that it is actually recommended to come back to your stylist monthly to have your treated to reintroduce the lost proteins and vitamins. This has kept my hair extremely strong. This is extremely important, because your hair did go through a chemical process. After which your hair is permanently straight, except for new hairgrough, which you can hive touched up depending on hair growth and type of hair. I hope this brought you insight. It's strange your stylist did not inform you of the monthly hair treatment, that was extremely important.
