I built a Prairy Bird and it only flew once. By its direction when it hit a boomer thermal, I'm pretty sure it landed somewhere in France.

Hi, Steve. There are a whole host of factors that can affect the size and pitch of the prop you choose to go with on a given model, but the shortest and simplest answer is that prop diameter will need to be at least 1/3 of the wingspan. If there are no limitations in place (such as rules for a particular event, etc), a better guideline is 40% of the wingspan. Still better, without getting too complicated, is a diameter that equals anywhere from 1 to 1.5 times the square root of the wing area, depending on things like prop pitch.
