Help, I can't stop playing this! 😆 (14 plays since 3 weeks). Mostly solo and a few multi player. I find it so satisfying...not too short, not too long. It plays very differently solo vs. multiplayer. They require different strategies and I like that about it. BTW, we don't wait for others to finish their turn before the next player takes their die. Players work on their sheets simultaneously. There's no need to wait. The GUI leaves something to be desired, but I look past it to get what I want out of it. 😊

This game is definitely an 8.5 for me. I absolutely love roll and writes and this one is sooo combo-tastic and fun to play. I managed to teach it succesfully to my elderly parents that dont play that many gamees, and even they were able to understand the game flow after a round or two and really got the hang of it. Solo Mode is quite good, but could benefit from a campaign that has different goals and restrictions similar to something like Hadrian's Wall. I think I heard there was some expansion or module that adds in a campaign but alas the retail version I got didnt have that as an option. Regardless, their are a surprising amount of different strategies to try, and even if you think you've explored everything the game has to offer, its still just relaxing and fun to play.

Top 3 Roll and Writes, better than Fleet (Which I Love)

I know your overviews should not be used as rules guides but I just wanted to point out for anyone that might not know, when you took the first One for the phantom player for the Fruit/Apiary action. They would also get to plant/water in the garden area of One.

This looks like fun - thanks for the review. Would you recommend this for someone's first roll-and-write game, or is there a better option for a newbie?

I'd probably start with Railroad Ink actually. Or Welcome To....

I have Fleet and Welcome to... but haven't played them yet.

Thanks for your insight on this game. It has drawn my interest but I'm holding out on picking it up for now. Still have so much more to explore in Hadrian's Wall first. You indicated that Hadrian's Wall takes things further. Would you say that Three Sisters is a step back or just in a different direction?

Rahdo at least rated this as heavier and more combo laden than Hadrian's Wall -- in fact the only 'roll' and write he rates as heavier is Pandoria Merchants. Though he does also say that Three Sisters still has the most combos - presumably Pandoria Merchants doesn't rely on combos for it's complexity.

@@isaacthimbleby8926 thanks for the info. Trying to be more responsible with my purchases and this helps me make an informed decision. It's already on my wishlist and will likely stay there for a while yet. I really enjoy the way the combos work in Hadrian's Wall, so this makes me believe I will like Three Sisters as well.

Interesting, different strokes but I totally disagree with Rahdo. I think Hadrian's has so much more happening.

I really like Three Sisters, but not as a solo game. For me Hadrians wall shines as a solo game- and it’s not much different from playing it multiplayer. Three sisters solo has Farmer Edith annoyingly blocking some of your actions-so it is nothing like the multiplayer game where no one is blocking off your ability to plant pumpkins or shutting down various actions in your shed. If I’m playing three sisters alone I usually play it two handed and try different strategies.

I recommend playing the solo variant from bgg. It is super simple yet hard to beat. It has an IA named Freia or something like that. I'm loving it.
