Loki is so calm and sweet. I could feel the relief for him when those matts were coming off! I have many Coton de Tulear clients, and I always educate them on brishing and show them how to brush so the pup does not experience brush burn and to never let the pup dry on it's own. Education certainly is key! Your pup looked awesome.. I'm sure his parents were happy to see him looking so good! 🙂

Thank you so much for your kind words..You are so right, the best thing we as groomers can do is try to educate people, even if we get ridiculed doing it..lol..We love all you do on your end..Thank you

Such a sweet boy ❤

First of all I have to say is what a great boy he is.. i'm sure he feels much better. I have a 4 1/2 old Giant Schnauzer and i have brushed his hair practically everyday since I've had him. I took him for his first trim to get the Schnauzer look and it was 150.00 he had no matting no knots. So 80 bucks for this trim I feel is low. Nice Job!

Man’s best friend is my favorite channel!! They do all the grooms for free! Challenging is an understatement for the dogs they groom. They are really good people. Thanks for recommending them! PS: you’re a great groomer. You are honest about what owners need to do. Just wish more people would listen.

With all you've had to deal with this month, I'm so sorry you have to deal with this, too. We here know you know your stuff, and you put yourself out on youtube so much, you must be honest. If you weren't, people would be calling you out on reddit, twitter and facebook. It would be no secret. Ive seen it happen multiple times. So, an owner might be a bit challenged in the brains department, but we know you're a solid person and a good groomer. Hugs for you and your family. Hope youre mending well and nothing itches too much! 🫂🫂🫂

We have an adopted Toy Poodle/Havense he was rescued from a puppy mill by Atlantic County Humane Society. My baby lived in squalor for not sure how long (months, possibly a couple yrs.with several other pups in 1Pen As u can imagine it was horrific matted in fecal matter from head to toe😢his name is Milo who actually looks like dog in ur video just much smaller anyways & his brother Marley (Havenese) playing rough necking knotting/matting happens usually in neck area We have bought items to groom ourselves just as upkeep for in between going to groomers every 4months. So far since going to groomer he’s never been matted just knotted (Said by his groomer)whom we trust more importantly our dogs trust! Their grooms cost $80per dog So $185 every 4months and so far no shave for either but we do like short body cuts. Except face a bit longer bc they look like Lil TeddyBears who express to Love you back 🥰 Love your channel 🐾❤️

My concern when people go to 'shaving it down' is when they're talking about double-coated Australian Shepherds... because shaving down those guard-hairs can exacerbate the problem in the long-run. As long as you run a comb through the breeches, feathers and ears, (and around the collar) for the most part they won't get mats close to the skin. The comb might not be the 'right' tool, but it's a good monitor through all that dense fur for problems before they form and some gentle separation. I just keep the steel comb near the toilet and do a once-through when they've got me a captive audience. It's perhaps not 'grooming' per se, but for a dog that requires a daily once-through (they didn't 30 years ago before show-coats took over the breed...), it's like brushing teeth and an easy preventative measure. I've only needed to shave out a mat once in 30 years. (Context: Some people want to shave down their Aussie because they think the dog is too hot in the summer, but they in fact are stripping away its insulation against heat, and sun-protection). If your dog is getting overheated, strip their coat good, get a chilly mat or put a wet paper towel on their belly. (Or bring them into the AC...) (I default to Rudy's expertise to correct my amateur non-groomer long-time owner opinion)

I keep saying, owners with matted dogs have zero clue of what is a mat. I think it might help if groomers showed mats to the owner but then actually had them FEEL what it what they are, and show them how a brush, slicker, comb can't get through and then explain 'that is the problem groomers face with grooming matted dogs, a visual, tactile test for the owner. I've bought 5 brushes, slickers and given them to owners in my neighborhood that had issues but who actually showed an interest in maintaining their dogs at home. I have full coated havanese, rarely a tangle and bathed every 2 weeks, was just told my male's coat is 'magnificent', words from breeder/rescue friend, not lying. I've offered to at least bathe, brushout some neighbor's dogs, not sure why but no takers, don't understand, are they intimidated, worried, ashamed etc.they might be judged or just totally ignorant of the needs of the dog, their egos get in the way. I'm confused and their dogs suffer.

I've watched that channel and i had to stop. They are lovely people and excellent groomers who truly care about dogs, but they aren't vets and I'm pretty sure aminals they worked their hearts out for ended up dying because of things that were out of this couple's wheelhouse. This is not their fault. They do all the right things but they can't do things beyond their reach and some of the dogs are in such bad shape. Bless that couple for what they do accomplish, though!
