This is my Three Thousand Years of Longing Movie Review, where I talk my thoughts on this new George Miller Film. What is your Three Thousand Years of Longing Review for reaction? Thought on the ending as well, so be sure to explain how you feel below. Find the full movie in theaters this weekend.
Dr Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton) is an academic - content with life and a creature of reason. While in Istanbul attending a conference, she happens to encounter a Djinn (Idris Elba) who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom. This presents two problems. First, she doubts that he is real and second, because she is a scholar of story and mythology, she knows all the cautionary tales of wishes gone wrong. The Djinn pleads his case by telling her fantastical stories of his past. Eventually she is beguiled and makes a wish that surprises them both.

I loved this film. So creative and full of imagination. It's what story telling in movies is all about! I wish it had been marketed better because it's not getting the attention it genuinely needs.

I wish Tilda Swinton would do more comedic performances like her character in The French Dispatch. She was hilarious and her comedic timing was amazing

This is one of those rare moments where I disagree with Austin. This is such a beautiful masterpiece. Anyone who has never fallen in love but really wants to will understand.

I liked it a bunch, but see how it isn’t for everyone. The flashbacks were visually stunning imho, and alone worth the price of admission (especially King Solomon and Queen of Sheba’s sequence). I also thought they provided context for the conclusion. That said, RT fan scores are good, and IMDb rating actually has jumped since its release yesterday.

The movie is definitely worth watching and truly amazing. Might not be worth watching in the theatre but its going to be one of those cult films.

I absolutely enjoyed this film. The chemistry between Swinton and Elba was electric, the second-to-third act damn near brought me to tears, and the film's visual style made it an almost hypnotic viewing experience. Though I would have liked to know more about why or how Swinton's character could see Djinn and other spirits from the beginning.

The demon at the airport is an enemy. He is an old demon that turns into a spider. He wanted to interfere with the flow of fate. But they are very weak in the electric world.

I literally just watched this… and im blown away! It is top 5 films of ALL TIME for me. A masterpiece imo. Absolutely stunning. It is a highly intelligent and sophisticated film so i can see it being inaccessible to most of the populace. This film is brilliance in a bottle… literally. I would LOVE a sequel that expands the myth and magic with different characters.

I found the Djinn's retelling to be the only interesting parts. I was pretty grossed out by alot but it was interesting to say the least. After the first wish I lost all faith this was going to be a movie I'd like.

The retelling was definitely the best parts. The nudity was really gross and the sex scenes were unecessary.

I truly admire and love George Miller work and I think this film is going to amazed some people. The cool thing about this movie is the film stars Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton are truly the best of friends in real life and they always want to do a project with one another. So George made this project happen for them to work with each other. And I know the chemistry between their characters two is going to be extraordinary!

That's what the film does ultimately so well. The relationship they build, form, and solidify by the end is truly natural and surprisingly lovely in a very introspective matter.

I'll be honest, I also wasn't on board with this one either. I appreciated the visuals and performances, but the story never came together in an investing way that I was able to latch onto. I personally gave it a 2.25/5. Great review as always!

I give this movie a big fat F and a 0/5, there were many scenes that were pointless and others that were just boring and the needing was just soooo bad, I did not feel that chemistry you speak of, in fact it was awkward this movie was bad. I left the movie being angry. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY OR TIME NOT WORTH IT. great review though I know you was trying hard to get some good things out of this movie. God bless.

The stories that Idris told were the best part of the film for me. I spent too much time trying to figure out what it was supposed to be about instead of immersing myself in the storytelling. By the end I realized it's about how our growing relationship with technology has pushed us away from the need for storytelling. In comparison the third act with their relationship fealt odd to mean. Even though I understand she fell in love with him for his storytelling it just comes off kinda forced. Also got lost at some points due to not having subtitles for the non-English parts. Probably going to give it another watch. I liked it enough, but I didn't get to just enjoy it for what it is. 6/10

It's a story about stories. The magic and science of stories. Lots of mini stories being told in the big one. All movies were once just scripts and so every once in a while, writers make one of these movies that celebrate stories as an art form.

I mean as u said the story telling took away a lot from the movie and I didn’t understand the point of it ! Maybe it was the Queen of Sheba question of women truly desire ? Was it love ? But then as the movie goes on the wishes changes from knowledge to then the last one no wishes ! Then we go back that what a women truly desire is love

Nice review Austin! I wasn't like overexcited about this movie but definitely was very interested as it's from the director of Mad Max Fury Road. The trailer looked insane and I knew it would be one of those movies that would be probably either hit or miss but unfortunately most people like you seem to agree it's a miss. That must really be very disappointing as his previous movie is one of the best action films of all time!

Modern people will find this film silly because it is about putting great effort into achieving actual love, which has become regarded as a nonexistent lie, at most a feigned politeness between intimate partners in modern thinking.

i was sleeping with the jin;; he slept and i slept, a perfect movie for insomniacs; i slept through covid, and when i got up, i slept again with the jin. everyone in the film has a bathrobe. this movie could have been made on a million. the story is much too serious , and the so called stories have nothing to do with the story; this is the clue its time to sleep. this movie should be provided for free for anyone with trying to sleep. deep, is it? want to watch a movie abput being alone, the masterpice would be steve martins lonely guy. everytime. so whats in the story, its hard to figure since most of the movie is about other stories told by people in bathrobes.
