Funny you say this. I was really pushing for researchers at my graduate school (and journals) to make it MANDATORY that researchers give a 3 minute explainer video for each of their papers (directly preceding the abstract.) What's funny is we'd read these really obtuse papers before class. (E.g. One paper was written by my professor... It was on Instance Theory and the cognitive neuroscience of automation regarding learning - fascinating research....) I didn't really "get it" when I read his paper. Anyway, in the next class he gave a 5 minute intro about the paper to the class before we discussed it - and I got more out of his 5 minute intro on the paper than I did from reading it.... I re-read the paper later that night and wished he had given his little intro to the paper before assigning the paper. I would have gotten much more from it. (All of my classmates agreed).

This is a really good idea. I'm pushing my colleagues to do brief explainer videos for their papers...

Non-academic types like me are also much more likely to read and share academic papers (for what that's worth) if we can bypass the bloated journal apparatus to access them. Keen to see more.

Thank you Dr. Miller. I will use these methods to red-pill people about Orgone energy.

I was actually very interested in Evolution in general. Since I had studied a B.A in English Literature but found their approaches to a bigger question lack precision and hard-boiled science. I read some Dennet and became interested in Evolutionary philosophy and watching your interview on Joe Regan is one of the main reasons I decided Psychology is what I want to go after Right now that I am reading "Mating Mind" it's probably one of the best books I've read in my life ever. I keep pausing and re-reading and contemplating and taking notes! so yes definitely third platform is a HUGE help

Loved and shared the video! I think you’re spot on (in a unique way). I’d love to see one on your views of Andrew Yang and perhaps other political candidates

Yep. I should do one on Yang's interesting policy ideas.

Problem: How to get noticed? (On social media, I mean.) By following guidelines such as those in Hyatt's Platform (2012)? That book, anyway, is not addressed specifically to academics, so may be at times misleading if applied by them. It seems Jordan Peterson hit social media best. I don't know, though, if he (really) knows how he did it.

I really like your channel. Could you point the audience to some of those „siloed” ideas?
