Holiday is obviously a better, consistent, offensive player than Smart. Holiday is a 2 time all-star who shot 43% from 3's this year (42.9%).....and over 50% from 2-pointers (52,6%) Holiday has an effective fg% of 58.1% , which is only 3% short of the Joker's 61.2% effective field goal percentage. Smart, a really good defensive star, takes way too many bad shots, and is often careless with the ball in crunch time. Holiday is a much strong ball handler and distributor, pretty much just as good on defense, and can score both inside and outside with excellent efficiency. I always cringe in close games when Smart has the ball, because he will often take it upon himself to take the biggest shot when there are much better shooters on the floor with him. When Holiday takes the shot, I am always happy because he rarely takes bad shots.

This was a statement win by the Celtics. Porzingis obviously provides a huge impact for them. I think they made it a point to put both Luka and Kyrie on an island and contest the Mavs at the 3, and it paid off. However, we'll see if they can replicate something similar in Game 2. I expect Jason Kidd to have an answer for what happened tonight and the Mavs to play with more cohesion and poise. I'm not reading too much into this given the tendencies of both teams (Celtics' inconsistency, Mavs bouncing back from Game 1 losses). I believe the Mavs will bounce back and take Game 2, though.

Things people don't understand/hide under the rag 1. Mavs almost lost 3 games on WCF, even the game that Luka embarrassed Rudy, was a win just because Twolves' poor selection to pass to Naz for a three, the same time they just needed a two to win with 3.5 secs. And Twolves played poorly at WCF. 2. There won't be clutch time buzzer beater against the Celtics. This team will beat you with fashion or goes down with fashion once a while. 3. Celtics is an all around team, they defend, they shoot well, and they drive and post up. Yes Luka is the better player but Celtics is the best team and Bball is a team sport. There is no Lively/Gafford effect on them as it seems, and their defense is a masterpiece, just check how they rotate on a switch or a blitz against the Luka - Lively pick and roll to cover the wings and the paint. I could give a 25 to 30% chance to Dallas to win the chip, but if anyone thinks that this will go down to the wire, with poor basketball from Dallas side, just for Luka or Kyrie to take the last shot, don't have a clue how the game is played.

Who is “they”? Celts took a chance on a center who has had history of injuries. They just won game 3 and KP sat on the bench with injury.

wemby doing all these moves when he just needs the kp just shoot normal over a small guy move.

I'm concerned about game 2. They didn't prove anything yet. These Celtics lost both game 2s after blowing out a team in game 1. And the Mavs like to win game 2s. They had a similar dominant game 1 with Porzingus against the Heat, and they all sucked in game 2.

The Celtics have been one of the best teams for years now. It's just that their young players have been choke artists. Maybe they have beaten that. We shall see.

I get the feeling that Celtics might have a hard time to win this one without KP. I was not there, people say that Jrue Holiday shook up the team when Mavs cut the lead to 8 and Tatum was lost at that point. Basically.... Celtics is a proper team with deapth. Mavs have their star.... but this is team sport.

But they have to do it to Perfection I'm telling you now the Dallas Mavericks got to do it to Perfection and it has to work through all of them doing it together and getting it done together as a team it has to constantly do this together and they got to do it and not have turnovers execute like a whale or a whale to machine running and it has to get done to perfection

These analysts don’t get this series not u but in general it’s not about who has the best player that’s a casual pick it’s about who has the best starting 5 which is the Celtics I m in belief that the Celtics can win this series with Tatum playing avg thanks to brad Steven’s decisions last summer this team is built to dominate and withstand a bad Tatum or JB game let Luca play bad like jt just did it’s a instant L mavs in this series need Luca and kyrie to avg 35 to 40 each to maybe win that’s the difference
