I really enjoy your presentation style and delivery and it reminds me of an often misquoted epithet about a broadcaster by the name of Alistair Cooke. Growing up in the UK in the 70s Cooke presented a radio series called “Letter from America” on the BBC and my wonderful mother who introduced me to the show often used to say that “Alistair Cooke could read out the telephone directory and make it interesting”.Long may you continue to provide such excellent content.

Absolutely brilliant. I actually unsubscribed from your channel as I became so bored with the gear, gear and more gear stuff. I then watched the first episode of Through the Lens of Photography and immediately re-subscribed. THIS is what you need to do and you do it so well. So in my very English way - three cheers for Hugh! Hugh was my grandfathers name and is my second name so I have to like you. I am a retired Pro Photographer and spent most of my life with medium format and large format film cameras - including, obviously, a couple of Hasselblads.

For me it is an very emotional video, remembering me to the time 1976 - 1979, when I learned the profession of a photographer. HASSELBLAD is the Rolls-Royce of the photography universe, combined with a stability of a Mercedes. In these years they advertised with the slogan: The Camera you know years ahead you own. Of course, for an apprentice the budget is by far not big enough to buy. In the beginning 1980s I saved enough money and bought a second hand 500C with the 80mm and an A12. A dream came true, alonside with a lot of more motivation to work, save more money and invest in , of couse: HASSELBLAD. Up to now I own a SWC/M and a 503cx, plus Magazines and the superb 120mm Macro f4. May be in some years, a then more older and affordable databack with 39MPx will be mine. Again it is: The moment you planned for, reached for struggled for - the long awaited moment of success ! Thank you for that video, bringing up so much memories - stay healthy !

History is a study in humility. You think the world is on fire today? We have nothing on the past. Think of the Black Death of the Middle Ages, the Irish potato famine, the Second World War, the Cold War, the upheaval of the 1960s, Disco...... those were the dark times. Today, our troubles and differences, challenging though they are, are simple compared to the true nightmares of the past. History gives me hope. Love this direction of the channel. Charlie

I think I can encapsulate what you have recently done, probably partly due to the impact of the pandemic on everyday life, and partly due to the current White House occupant. The point was made succinct by Director Dawn Porter of the new film with Pete Souza, “The Way I See It.” Some photographers have shifted from observer to articulator. Thanks for that!
