Thanks for this interview. I saw an exhibition of his work in Paris last month. His parents fled the Russian revolution to Paris, but there’s never been any information about them. Elliot grew up in Europe and the USA, so he’s an accomplished linguist. His body of work (600,000+ photos) is simply amazing!

I was lucky to be able to spend a day with Elliot 15 years ago. It was a very special experience. He talked passionately about photography, both his commercial work and what he considered his hobby street photography. He also talked about photographers rights and the vigorous need to defend copyright. A great man and a great photographer.

Hi Hugh good evening. Thank you for the like that my comment. Mind me if I share this idea....has any one or/ have you ever seen some one attempting a panoramic shot on 8x10 camera?? It should be an interesting challenge.....and I would say an amazing result at the end of the day. I'm a digital photographer on all my work, but I appreciate the quality of this format and the stunning results it delivers. Would these be considered a leap forward from the creative bench??

Ah, Leica. The only other sound that is so heavenly then the almost inaudible whisper of it's shutter as it captures an image designed, and well thought out by it's maker, is the gentle sound of a newborn baby as she draws in oxygen, and breathes out life, and in this case, extraordinary images of life.
