Excellent! That’s the third or fourth video I watch, this one was the best. I am interested to join you in your next session. Not sure how or the time though, I live in Sydney Australia.

[Noor] Hi! Thanks for asking, and also thank you for all your lovely comments. We're currently taking a break during the holidays until Jan 8, but we usually do public talks weekly on Sundays at 6:30pm Pacific Time. We also have one extra talk monthly on every third Sunday morning at 10:30am PT. We have everyone join in live on Zoom, and you can get the Zoom meeting link by joining our mailing list or our Facebook group. The links for both of those are always in our video descriptions. Please feel free to join in!

Having been working the precepts for a few months, I was wondering: How would one incorporate Breathing Consciously into daily life? This segment is a treasure in your sharing of beginning applied practices. Thank you both again for holding such a 'down home' and sacred space for us.

I am happy to have come across this video delineating the 3 attentions. It is time to engage again with these practices in a more structured way. My main attention exercise was one of hard gazing at the shadow or darker areas of a plant (lily) whilst keeping my awareness of the periphery. I would then de-focus my gaze so that I was looking at the space just in front of the plant. Whilst I was doing this I would work on continually bringing my awareness back to my gazing practice, over and over again - the river of associations continually reaching out and pulling me back into its flow. Working from maybe once every few minutes to 10 or so times a minute - well that is what it felt like. After some time everything would start to phase out and eventually go black, where I could seemingly not see anything. After about 20 minutes a sensation of something within been fed or filling up with some type of sustenance would arise. At some point the body would decide that it was time to stop and I would get and go on with my day. I found it very intriguing that in time this sustenance would feed something within that became palpable. A kind of veil or cloak of energy would become perceptible in and around the body. Looking forward to listening to your other videos.

Hi Mushtaq and Noor, thank you for these public talks, I am grateful you take the time and effort. With the 3 axes of attention practice, why do they each start with the same two points of attention, the breath and the point between the eyes? Also, with the depth of attention practice, in which direction on that axis does putting my attention on myself being aware take me? Thanks again, Dave

[Mushtaq] Thank you. We will be making the formal announcement in a couple weeks, but it will be in mid May, in a very beautiful part of Sweden, and just for you, there's a lake with boats we can take out during break time 😀

Amazing! I have never heard of 3D concentration. This is a fabulous exercise, especially when one is working in an office. This has been added to my practice moving forward. Thank you very much and bless you both for all your efforts!😇

@@TheNineSidedCircle Mushtaq, I am new to the Nine Sided Circle. I found my way here after having the vey good fortune of finding the works of Gurdijeff and Ouspensky. How would be the best way for me to learn more about your work and Order? I am not certain if you already have videos posted covering this or you have an outside website with that information. Any assistance you could offer would be greatly appreciated! I had some books on Sufism delivered yesterday and I am amazed by the wealth of knowledge. We do not know about these gems in the west.

I'm just curious why the word meditation isn't what you use to describe what you are practicing? I'm sure there is a reason? Is it a cultural term? Connotations? Thank you and this was worth paying my attention too 😊
@TheNineSidedCircle2 жыл бұрын
[Mushtaq] The term "meditation" is ambiguous and sometimes misleading. It can mean anything from "I'm going to visualize all manner of patterns, gods and demons", or "I am going to chant a bunch of sounds until I go into trance", or it could mean "I'm going to just sit and clear my mind". The word itself, in its actual meaning, has nothing to do with the things we talk about or the practices we suggest, so I prefer to be more precise.

So if you have a fear, certain phobias, it is caused by being in a trance or a limited deep focused. the z axis downward. In order to get out of a trance you need the flow state?????? What is a good exercise to get rid of phobias?

Is it normal to feel sleepy when trying to focus your attention on the three areas mentioned - (breath, point between eyes, and experience of awareness) - I felt very drowsy even though it was in the morning, and saw images not seen before.
@TheNineSidedCircle2 жыл бұрын
[Mushtaq] I don't know if it's normal, but it's certainly common. The good news is that it tends to pass quickly with practice.

@TheNineSidedCircle2 жыл бұрын
[Mushtaq] What do you mean by empowered? How would feeling it be meaningful?
@11Pollux2 жыл бұрын
Could you clarify further 'presence'. I am not to sure that it is just a matter of coming to oneself in an intellectual sense. When one becomes present it comes of its own volition, in its own time and for no reason other than as a result of practicing the 'I am present' formality. The world becomes alive, things have a shine to them. There is a shock of been in a body and the wonder/ terror of it. You look down at your hands with exclamations of holy molly, I am in a body! Oh my God, what a bizarre place this is! In your meaning of presence do you refer to a remembering of a formality to become more aware of oneself in ones surroundings? If so, what is it I am referring to in Gurdjieffian terms?

I was ready to join you live this evening but physically ran out of gas. This is very very rich with much to work with. My earliest recollection of the ‘deep attention’ was spontaneous at about age 14, playin football, the couch called on me to go in and play nose guard, on the field I experienced something like time stopping, or slow motion in which all the other players were frozen and I could move at will, tackling the quarterback before he could step away from the center….attention to attention, intention, presence, is the spiritual ABCs, sadly you will not hear anything about these in your conventional religious environment….
@TheNineSidedCircle2 жыл бұрын
[Noor] We're sorry to have missed you, but we certainly empathize with the feeling of "physically running out of gas"! Your description of your encounter with deep attention is quite an example of the tangible impact of deep attention. We'll all benefit from reading about it, so thank you for sharing.
