I enjoy your perspective more than most weavers bc you’re not saying it must be done this way but not telling me why. Then I’ll ask someone else and it’s a different method and it’s the only way it should be done there’s no exaggeration there. It happened to me quite a few times. Respect for tradition vs creative freedom. It’s an easy answer, we can all be artist that are passionate about what & how we create. Respect isn’t lost by branching out. Artist literally seek out new angles and methods of creating what they’re mind seeks to display.

Thank you! You know what it is? I'm an artist, NOT a tapestry teacher! I think sometimes being a teacher means that people think they need to show one way of doing things for consistency, or because that's how they learned. I feel I have more freedom, because I'm just showing you what I do, not telling you what you should do ;)

I have that book you mentioned by Kristen Glasbrook but honestly I didn’t thoroughly understand it until you just explained it while demonstrating. Yours extremely good at explaining it. Sometimes I get confused bc there are so many wefts going back & forth across the selvedge. The Soumack & so many more “less conventional” lessons from Line in Tapestry are priceless like the 2 last techniques. I’m not “attempting” to teach myself shaped, pulled & supplemental warp methods. You’re a great teacher, I mean you do it without thinking so I understand but just watching u & telling us what ur doing is a lesson for me. I love knowing what yarns & sett you’re using but I’m a proud nerd.

Thank you! Sometimes, it's also great just watching someone weave, and you just pick up tips from there - I assume you have seen my 'Weave With Me' videos? I have done a video about the yarns I use, but I probably need to update it!

Perfect! That is exactly the discussion I was hoping for! Much better to press on with the vision for the piece than to obsess over someone's definition of the "right way!" I think that I have heard Ms. Mezoff refer to skipped warps as "lice" or some other sort of troublesome insect. Thanks Michelle! Cheers!

Yaaaay, I'm so glad it made sense!!! Yes, it was lice, haha! I know you have to learn the rules to break the rules, but seriously, let's just cut to the chase, haha!

Very clear and understandable. For me, the most important point was that you needn't be tied to an idea or rule just because That's the way it has always been done"! I subscribe to the idea of using whatever works to solve a problem. So, well done, you! And thanks!

Just viewed..must've missed!..the sumac weave to fix is a great tip! ..oh yes the weaving police lol! I am almost finished a more bulky tapestry using various yarns and the back is a mess..was going to cut, like u do, but am going to stitch a muslin backing on using a blanket stitch or running stitch with my name and title of piece. Hope that's OK lol

Woohoo, so glad it was helpful! I think I'll have to do more videos of close-up weaving, as that's what I wanted when I was learning ;)
@Quietcloud

Thank you for that informative close-up and those tips! I feel a lot less stressed now about how to proceed with this issue. By the way, do you think finger picking warps to create a shed actually helps make bubbles to stop draw-in? Watching your other videos I always thought it looked difficult and awkward, but seeing it close-up I think there is an advantage to that method.

You're most welcome! I think I need to do a separate video about the way I weave - I just don't like using leashes ... another thing that apparently I 'do wrong', haha! :) I'll say what I say about everything - just do what feels best for you!
