You guys are killing it, after 15yrs of not doing video work and focusing on opening my own brewery to suddenly being called to do video work because of covid (hard pause on brewery). I appreciate seeing you guys build a business and sharing you passion.

Loved hearing your story on the growth of your company! I have been a freelance DP for almost 10 years and have recently started a production company. I am signing a lease today on my first office space! I am excited and nervous so hearing how you guys have approached things throughout the years is super insightful.

@@themeankitty100 Hey man! I appreciate you asking. This year has turned into the absolute biggest and busiest year of my career. Ironically though it has kept me away from my office space for most of the time I have had it haha.

Knowing you two a bit, you undersell how hard you both worked to get where you are. There wasn’t any trick to the success of Threefold that I can see, just lots of hard work, strong talent and a dedication to turn out the best work possible. And being very nice people.

The timing on this is perfect. I just rented my first space outside of home, 700 sq ft. I already have a bunch of gear, lighting and grip equipment. I felt it was time to grow! I hope I can grow out of this space in 6 months. One question I have is how to move to a higher “tier” of high paying clients.
@paperdogmedia51372 жыл бұрын
Congrats! I'm in a similar boat. How are you doing 1 year later? Enjoying that studio?
@gravity_media2 жыл бұрын
@@paperdogmedia5137 Extremely rough. The hardest thing I have learned is that not having an editor will kill your production flow. I simply cannot keep up with the projects but am not making enough to hire an editor. On top of that it is really hard to find high paying clients in my area. My good paying jobs have all been out of state via other marketing companies that don't have a video production unit. Most of the time, my gear is sitting in a $300/month storage unit.

Wow this video went by so fast, some really good info in there and looking forward to part two for sure. As someone who is at the point where they are looking into the idea of hiring on crew those parts were really helpful to hear. Wish there was more content like this talking about the business side of a video production company.

This was perfect timing for me to hear, I am just finalizing paperwork to sign an editor to my production house, and a business manager/sales person...have felt very intimidated by making sure they're taken care of but this was encouraging.

one of the things I'm really curious about leans towards the legal and business side. You may have talked about it in the past, but since this is my first time seeing one of your videos I figure I might as well ask here. Did you file as an LLC or any sort of corporation when you were starting, and did you have any legal help in the beginning? I'm transitioning from freelancing with several prod. companies to starting my own company and am really looking for those first steps outside of gear and RTC.
