Sometimes giant fish come close to land and if you're lucky you might get a shot at them. Boom kingfish and jacks on the jetties.
Also lots of dead fish near the rocks from bad releases...
Catch and cook kingfish.

What I like about you, you respect the sport and especially the fish. I've seen you on multiple occasions getting into the water because a fish wasn't going to make it on it's own. You nursed them and either forced water through their gills or you had to pin them to alleviate the air. Tight lines, brother.

I’ve seen ppl say if you cook the Kings to long they’ll get chewy and tough, we brought home 3 kings and they were right. The longer you cook the tougher they get, pan sear then wrap in foil with spices and in the oven around 300 for about 20-30mins. Keep killin’em and stay safe out there.

I’m happy that you catch fish when you use lures it give me hope. I am new to surf fishing and I have been using lures for the past two weeks and not a single catch. I’ve used the ones similar to what u showed the this video. But nothing bits them. I use between 2oz to 3oz top water poppers and semi sinking lures because my rod is rated between 2-6oz lures. Idk if I’m doing. Anything wrong. Maybe I need to try smaller lures on a lower action rod.

THANK YOU for discussing the venting/fizzing tool. If there were ever two under-covered topics in the fishing community they would be venting a fish to prevent barotrauma, and how to properly use a VHS radio. And while venting is never 100% successful in deep water, it can greatly improve mortality rates. For a deep water jetty situation the venting tool is the best option while in a boat in deeper water, a descending drop rig is better. Thanks for helping save the fishies!

Been told big shell is great this time of year. Now I've never been down there myself dont have 4x4 and it's needed to get there. About 25 miles from beach access onto PINS is big shell beach. You can spot it on Google. There is also little shell beach. Which is about 15 miles down. Watch tides and soft sand in these areas. Go prepared bud.

Great videos........The slick rock.........My mom is over 100 now and won't be out on the jetty anymore, but she still crappie fishes. A few years back she slid down I believe on that same rock you did while catching piggys for bait......Fell into the sea urchins!! Some sea urchin spines lodged and broke off in her wrist at that point where the hand and all the nerves connect. Had to have micro surgery by a hand specialist in Corpus. Still was a good trip!....Keep up the videos!

Kingfish is FINE if you filet, skin and remove the blood line. It's really fishy if you don't do that. You can bake it, fry it in a pan. Can't cook them whole unless you like really strong tasting and smelling fish.

Great advise on proper handling of fish. I'll also note that many people (nearly all except myself that I have seen) keep this larger fish out too long. It seems like a mix of excitement and exhaustion but we must always be mindful of fish we aren't going to harvest. Get them landed, get them prepped for release and get them back in the water.

You talked about the "fishy" taste of the meat. Not sure if you have done it before, but when you do keep a fish and have ice on hand during warm times, cut the gills in the right spot and let the fish bleed out. That will help a lot with the taste. Keep up the great work.
