😄 Crafting is a grand adventure, where you are never quite sure how something will turn out... and I think it's important to share the "no-go's" along with the wins. If I can save a friend a step or two, that's lovely! Thank you for your very kind words! 😊 💕

Oh my gosh! I have a crackle stamp!......I never thought about using it when I painted and distressed pieces. Thank you so, so much for sharing that idea! The child's stool is my absolute favorite. All your chippy pieces now look like they have a past, but this stool will soon have many new stories to tell from your grandbabies around the table. ❤ Also I am one of the ones who never knew it was that simple to tie a square knot...right over left; left over right. I'll always remember that now. What a great video, Marla. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas and talent with us. ❤

The square knot 🪢... my daddy was an Eagle Scout, and I am married to and the mother of outdoorsmen! They've tried to teach me other knots but I can't remember how 😄 I am so excited for you to try using your crackle stamp on a furniture flip! Let me know how it turns out! My daughter saw the painted and distressed child's chair, and said "Wow, it's remarkably strong to be that old!" 😆 best genuine unintentional compliment EVER! She didn't recognize it was the same chair the kids had already been using at my table!

Hello Marla, you make me want to get back to crafting. Those hymn rolls were so sweet, really I loved it all. About picking things up on the side of the road, today I saw a table probably for outdoor use, but my husband wouldn't stop lol. Back in the 70's on Thursdays was special trash day, me and my mom use to get some really good stuff. I miss those days. You take care and God Bless ❤your hair looks gorgeous 🥰 Brenda

Brenda, you are so sweet! 😊 The special trash days with your mom sound fabulous! I'm excited just to hear about that! I keep a keen eye on those piles at the curb. When my son Joel sees me slowing down, he says "just drive on by... resist... nothing to see there..." 😄 🤣 😂

You're amazing, your work is amazing, your personality is amazing, and you teach absolutely amazingly! Did I say amazing enough times?!? 😂 Sorry, it's just very true. You don't try to take Dollar Tree crap and turn it into "high end" home decor, but instead you still take inexpensive thrifts and so a stunning job updating them ❤❤❤ I'll always be coming back looking for new videos! Thank you for all of the inspiration you've given me 😊

Paige, I'm not sure who is furnishing their home with Dollar Tree stuff glued together, but clearly their people are not as rough as we are!! 😄 🤣 😂 I always observed that my five children required Little Tykes /heavy duty toys, or they'd be broken in one week. I feel the same about the DT items (maybe a few exceptions). I'm so glad you'll be watching for more "sturdy" but high end flips!! 🌞🏡

I am so glad you are able to get working on your crafts! My fathers family were predominately painters. He told me that his grandfather had a large family and was able to create his own union, 😂😮. My great grandfather had a wife that birthed 16 children and she passed. Then he married again and had 16 more children. Several current family members have worked on our genealogy and confirmed the info of that generation. In the Etowah County. Alabama area if you have the last name of Wimpee you are automatically kin. Don't know why I went on this rant. Thanks for listening though and thanks for your video and all of the comments. Loved these flips!! I have the exact same pink moulds and I really like them. They are definitely a bit fiddly...but I have found that the 10 min resin gives better results than the air dry clay. I have also tried the glue and hairspray technique to achieve the crackle but for whatever reason it has never worked me. I really don't know why. I have experimented with different application and still nothing 😆Blessings, my friend!!
@marlacainraisingcain7 ай бұрын
I should try 10 minute resin! Does it harden immediately or remain flexible for a little while? I had crackle success with hairspray ONE TIME, but it often goes wrong, probably due to not being purely acrylic paint, etc. But the stamp works every time! 😄👍
@rachelmccracken13267 ай бұрын
@@marlacainraisingcain The resin stays flexible for a bit. Once it hardens though, you can heat it up with a heat gun or hairdryer to make it flexible again. I need to get myself one of those crackle stamps!

Have you ever used candle wax if you're rubbed? Candle wax on those edges and then painted over top of it. All you'd have to do was go back and take a light sandpaper. And just send it and the chippiness would been just in 2 minutes. You wouldn't have to do that with your knife. You're gaging the wood out, which doesn't. It's not the same thing if you put the wax on and rub it off. It looks a lot better. It looks like the page just roughly up-and-coming off.

Yes, I've done the candle wax method, but I wanted the chippy-er look for this. I realize it's cutting a bit of the wood, and I'm fine with that. I'm sure it's a matter of preference, but I did do it on purpose 😊

I heard you mention Chattanooga Tn. In one of your videos, do you live close to there? I live in Ringgold a couple of miles away.

We drive through Chattanooga and just past Ringgold (or at least the exit signs on the interstate) on our way to Hiwassee and Nantahala for kayaking and camping! I live in North Alabama, about an hour south of Huntsville, near Lake Guntersville. I'm also only about an hour from Chattanooga! 😃

Couldn’t you have used the bands you took off? But if you just didn’t want them,you can buy rusty wire, nails, safety pins,etc. if you didn’t want to rusty them up yourself.

I guess I could have, but the photo of the authentic ice cream freezers showed wire, so that's what I wanted it to look like. I am curious now whether I could make those bands look rusty and old. They are so glossy, I kind of think whatever I do to make them rusty it would scrape off. That bucket sat outside 2 years at my house and those bands did not rust one bit! 😄 Maybe they're made of space shuttle material 🤔 🚀
