Thrift Haul / Thrifted Makeover DIY

My daughter and I went thrifting this week. I headed straight for the area where I had put something back that I had in my cart the week before. It was still there and I will make it over in this video. We found lots of good stuff. I spent the whole day with my daughter and enjoyed it so much. We also filled our tummy's with food along with lots of chit chat.

I did the same thing with wood cutouts. For instance,a tree I dripped green wax in a pine scent. I used them as ornaments. And it made the tree smell so good.

Shopping at my favorite store is always a fun time with your daughter. Was surprised that all your lamps worked after paying such a good price for them. Don't think I have ever seen a lamp like that tall one with the tall shade before. Was undecided about the shade myself also.... Loved how your projects turned out.

I have the tall lamp with the white shade beside my sewing machine in the pool table room. That shade is just not floating my boat...lol

I don’t know where you’re from but I really liked seeing your town especially seeing the old movie theater. Gosh, wish my town had thrift stores. We once did have a lot till the town kept growing with people moving here that has money. I live in Sarasota Florida. I couldn’t believe all the great things you got n most for 50 cents. I’ve already seen a few of your makeovers from what you bought. I honestly believe that that glass (we’ll call it a cloche) you were to have. That’s why it was still there. What you did with it was so neat. Loved that idea. Putting it in my memory box. I was amazed at how you did that candle pouring wax over it. Thank you Shelly. I am in Oklahoma. We only have the two thrift stores which are really the same. They just take the older nice items to the other store and mark them up. I could not believe that cloche was still there. You are right it was meant to be.

Love thrift stores and country stores. So much fun to shop in. Love baskets, doilies, hankies, old wood items, lace, buttons, fabric, old spools, bed springs, etc. You never know what treasures you will find!! Our thrift stores have gotten a bit expensive, though, now. Disappointed by that. Even our city missions, too. Your stores have great prices. Ours used to. I still shop in them, though... just don't buy as much. 🙁

I always pick up old candles at the thrift store to use like this. I wished I could find some black ones. I do have some black wax I have in a can melted down but used my candle wax color to do that.

I think the lamp with the white shade doesn't really go with your primitive decor.😞I think that lamp needs a more primitive looking shade. 😃I love love love❤❤ your craft project. It's my local thrift store. They are way over priced on somethings and then really good on others. Who knows how the come up with the prices.

What type of wax are you using in that small crock pot Sandy?

I thrifted some candles and melted them down in the pot. I make candles but the wax I use is way too soft. I'm always picking up candles at the thrift store for this use.
