Since you are looking to make it more authentic, a sole on the boot would help. Our daughter is a figure skater. We are from PA and have lots of opportunity to ice skate. It is very cute and I hope this helps. I plan on making some based off your inspiration!

Just a thin line half cm of dark or black all the way down the bottom of the boot would be an easy fix.

I actually did put the sole on it at the end. Maybe I need to make it thicker.

@@sandyscountrycrafts it looks great. I read that suggestion as well before i noticed but was just thinking it would be easy to add. If you want to. I love the lace hooks btw.

Hey Sandy, I have 3 old sleds. One is my husbands and the other 2 are his brothers. They all haven't been used for a long time. I have 2 of them in the house with pine picks some pinecones some red berries and a red and black buffalo plaid bow on them. They all match my decor so I just leave them right where I have them all year long. I love what you did with your sled. The bow and skates that you made adds a special touch to it. It looks beautiful. Love the primitive blocks too. Take care and God Bless y'all always

Thank you! I found mine hanging in our barn a couple of years ago. I quickly had him get it down for me.

Your skates turned out to be beautiful. The wax made a big difference and the rub n buff is exactly what was needed for the blades.

Great video....I loved the skates and sled...perfect Christmas decoration. The piece of greenery in Crow"s beck was the perfect way to bring Christmas into the entire project. More awesome primitive projects....thanks so much for sharing.

Sandy, I know you don't want to repaint the metal on sled, but you should put something on the wood to preserve the wood. For just being outside in the cold can be hard on the wood. And the wood is the first to get bad on the old sleds. Nice sled.

I did put polyacrylic on last year. I think I'm going to go over it with clear wax as suggested by another subscriber. I think it would bring out a little more of the red on the metal too!

Sandy, your sled turned out so really cute. I definitely would not paint the sled metal. But can you maybe wax the whole thing? That should help stop the wood splintering further. But I really love your sled. ❤❤❤ And the blocks are very cute, too. Living in Ohio, I grew up ice skating and sled riding. What I would give to have my sled and ice skates back. Only for decorations. I don't want to hit the ice at my age. 😂😂😂

I think the wax would bring out the red also. Thanks for the idea!

Hi Sandy. Do you have a pattern for ice skates that you possibly could share with us. ❤️ the ice skates and sled. Your sled is gorgeous!

Oh, when i said put something on the sled to perserve the wood I was thinking clear wax. Not stain.

That is what I'm going to try.

I vote not to paint the metal of the sled. I grew up in PA sled riding and skating and so wish I would have kept my sled. I found ice skates in a thrift store but I haven’t done anything with them yet. Great job on all your projects.

Another subscriber gave me the idea to use clear wax on it. I think I'm going to try that.

What do you use for the wax and the wax stain? I need to see if I can find it here in Germany.
@sandyscountrycrafts10 ай бұрын
I used the Waverly Antiquing wax and DIY clear wax.

Leave it and don't paint it. It's beautiful as is . I know with my sled ,I looked at the red ,said, if I paint it . I'll be very upset I can't put it back .
