HAPPY DECEMBER 4TH EVERYONE!!! Instead of participating in Vlogmas this year, i'll be dedicating all my December uploads to THRIFTMAS! Just a tip for everyone who is thinking about dying clothes: check the material. Natural fibers such as cotton and linen are the best, synthetic fibers may not take on the dye as well 💕

yes, poliester cannot be dyed - only with very special and kind of expensive dyes, if they even exist (not in my country). I fooled myself a few years ago when i bought bright neon orange polyester dress. I thought I could make it black... but polyester is just a plastic and it cannot absorb dyes like natural fibers... :(

There are synthetic dyes by Rit called Rit Dyemore which can be mixed for a variety of colors.

I have a love/hate relationship with thrifting in general, as we don't have very good shops here in Austria, but I love the idea, and the excitement of the chase. And, considering where we are currently at, worldwide, I think this is a very good and helpful idea.

For the mesh dress: tie dye for sure. Cut the sleeves shorter and maybe put a couple of fish-eye darts in the back to help give it shape? Make sure you get synthetic fabric dye though!

1: Dye and iron on patch, dealers choice of patch. 2: Not sure how well all the different layers will dye but I saw someone say dye one layer to create an effect. I like Lilac for it. 3: If you can fit thread through the holes you can do designs with thread or sew on some of those pearls. 4: Adding anything would overwhelm it since it has so much going on, but perhaps dyeing it will add a higher opacity to it? 5: Paint the harness Pink. Also maybe add thread designs to the harness. Maybe cut the t-shirt? Cut a v-neck and also maybe cut the sleeves off? muscle Ts are nice. Or you can sew the sleeves up into a scalloped design. You may be able to crop the shirt as well so long as you do not mess with where the harness cinches things. The bead idea could also be cool. 6:OOO you could tie-dye it and if you are feeling up to it you can also add lil embroidered flowers if it is not too crazy. If you put a majority of tie-dye along the skirt then add the embroidery along the neckline. Or you can tie-dye it and add one of the Pocky Patches as a lil chest emblem where a nametag would go. 7: It already has so much going on so I can't imagine much to do with it, but i do trust your vision of it being yellow with the colored flower pops! Its good to accentuate what's already there. 8: I still like the gradient ideas, if you did a gradient from the bottom up into the rest of the white jeans it could have a cool effect. Maybe add embroidery on the thighs. A hello kitty cherub on the butt, which ever that hello kitty would be facing the other side of the butt and you can do something like a love-heart on the other pocket. Sidenote: You could totally pair the Peach patches with the Peach Pocky Patches on something! Hope I commented in time for you to see this.

For item number one I think you sholud definitely dye it but I was also thinking make slits up the sides abot halfway, add eyelets and some ribbon to make cute corset cut outs.

For the skirt at the 5:50 mark, there was a dying technic that I learned about when I was in college. You wet the skirt, wrap it around a pvc pipe, put it into a 5 gallon bucket with the dye of your choice. You then every 15 minutes or so go and pour some of the dye over the top of the skirt. The skirt will slowly pick up color on the bottom and the top will be much lighter in color. I think that kind of gradient would look very nice. However, you're going to have to check if the fabric is cotton or not. You'll have to you different dyes according to what the fabric is made from.

1- I think this would be very cute tie-dyed two colours (like yellow and peach or purple and blue) with matching patches on each shoulder or just one patch 2- dip dye from the waistband leaving the hem/ ruffle white or light coloured 3- dye it mint or blue 4- leave it white but embroider some bits of colours on to the lace 5- ? 6- definitely tie-dye in a rainbow of pastel colours. but I think it would be cuter short sleeve and with a belt 7-try a wax batik fabric dye method. Use the wax to prevent dye from penetrating the cloth. It leaves "blank" areas to showcase a design, like daisies 🌼 8-you should throw the kitchen sink at them. Dye them, add patches galore all over them and embroider random designs Be sure to use a good synthetic dye for all of these. Even if the materials are natural fibre, the thread is typically synthetic

Depending on how attached to the cloths you are you could always dye them and do a video about which of the different types of fabric will and won't dye

I don't have any particular suggestions but I have a few tips I learned from experience. 1. Thread rots overtime, so when you use an older thread, make sure to test it by pulling on both sides of a piece about the length of your forearm. if it snaps easily, its probably rotten and might not hold up overtime. 2. Be sure to check what types of fibers a garment is made of before dying. Some synthetic materials do not take well to dyes, and will reject it or end up blotchy.

Dye works best with natural fibers like cotton and silk. Synthetic fabric doesn't hold dye as well. This might be ok for you since you like pastels, but just be aware. 1. Embroider something on it. 2. Idk 3. Add fringe to bottom of shirt to extend length a bit 4. Add those pastel beads to the bottom tips of the lace 5. Thrift for buttons/pins (idk what you call them there but look up "ramblin rod" (he wore a bunch of them) and/or add a bunch of safety pins. 6. Get a bunch of fine ribbon and weave it through at different intervals in the round and tie in bows. You could do them in a line or have the bows in various places. Just make sure you're still able to get it on. 7. Just get a variety of belts in different colors to use with it 8. Get fabric pens and have hubby and Sam decorate them. You could use sharpies but that's bound to give it a more grungy look.

Shirt number 1 is going to be your best bet for patches & I think you could easily do an iconic Japanese themed patch job. You could use a cpl of the Hello Kitty patches, the pocky, the sushi, the Pokémon etc & just go ham on it.

This so fun!!! 1. Obviously dye the crop tee and put a patch on it. Like pink with the pocky patch on the top left (traditional placement). Or green with the cherry or peach. 2. Dye and color block your harness tee. Really emphasize all the different sections it creates. 3. I don't you don't have embroidery floss, but it's easy to find. You should cross stitch 8-bit characters or pixely flowers on to the cult dress. You could probably do larger cross stitch with yarn too. 4. Dye the cult dress any color. Hem it up to your knees-ish, trust me here. Sew those iridescent pearl beads on in an all pattern. Then wear it over a spaghetti strap dress that is of a shorter length, but the same color. Maybe crop the sleeves to your elbows too. 5. Weave thin ribbon through the "milk maid top" to create a vaguely similar pattern to the sweater you missed out on. You bought the cutest patches too. So excited to see the next video! I wish I was doing this entire project myself! Love it!! --a fellow alexandra

Kind of like chains too. To save the hassle but want the look some clothing pieces have chains attached/sewn on. There's also fake tattoo clothing which looks weird loooool but it looks quite good after wearing it ... I have a few pieces of such clothing and people are always fascinated by it.

If an item is more than 50% synthetic (rayon, polyester) it won't take regular dye well. You have to find special made for synthetic dyes. Item 1: sew little flowers down the one sleeve(like the sweater you recently thrifted), mini flowers along the collar because it looks pretty sad, and maybe 2 lines of them down the front of the shift. Item 5 : hello kitty angel patches on the harness shirt. One on each sleeve near the hem. Last item : line the pocky patches down the seams of the pants! Alternate colours of course.

#1 Pocky patches all over making it look like a late 80s early 90s geometric print from a distance but very quirky closeup. #2 Dye just the under layer of the skirt with a pastel pink or blue. #3 On the first row of whole diamonds you could sew on buttons or beads or go all in an embroider daisies. #4 It appears to be a mix of fabrics (synthetic and possibly cotton) the dye will not react the same on them and you would end up with two different colors. It has great detail already and would look amazing with pastel skinny pants so I would leave this one be. #5 Two panda pockets over the breasts or a hoodie style pocket just below the harness. #6 Cut off sleeves and cinch in at waist. Start tie dye swirl at naval. #7 Tie strips of ribbon to the eyelet holes in the dress to create fringe. Then sew pastel beads to the centers of the flowers close to the neckline. #8 The bows down the pants leg will be cute. Maybe Ombre the pants leg starting with a dark pink at the ankles fading to white.

I hope some of these ideas help! 1. Some patches on this would be really cute 2. Ohh you could sew some daisies on the second under-layer, so it would be like a cute mesh pattern, or maybe the pastel beads! 3. Three 'fake' buttons down the front near the top might be cute? 4. Maybe sew pastel threads using the lace as a kind of guide? The sleeves would make cool diy wrist-cuffs if you cut them off, doubled them over and sewed a strip of elastic around. Some added lace from the rest of the top would make it a super cute accessory 5. If you removed the harness you could use it as a template to create a new pastel coloured harness with either lace or elastic. Or dye the tshirt pastel for a quick pastel goth look! 6. Omg you could dye that pastel or tie-dye, then cut it in half. Create a cute skirt (trim some of it off and add elastic to the waist, and hem the top into a crop top. The material would make it into a really sporty style coord! If not tie-dye, the peach or strawberry patches would look adorable as accent pieces on each set 7. I love the idea of dying it buttercup yellow then embroidering flowers over the ones already there 8. If these don't fit anymore, you could cut them up the leg seams and sew in a panel of the cute fabric each side if theres enough? Otherwise they would adorable if you could block dye them (like marshmallow gals did for a jacket, I think it was?) OR the peach patches up the leg??

Assuming each piece is dyed a pastel color 1: possibly dye pastel color and add one of the pocky or other iron-patches [pick a color that compliments the patch] 2. add the round beads spread out on the top section of the skirt or find cute thin ribbon to add bows along the bottom on top of the frill layer. Another option: possibly add faux flowers or embroidery on the second tulle/mesh layer so it just peaks through the top mesh layer. 3. on the sleeves, put a beautiful maybe like a velvet bow on top of each sleeve and put one of the sanrio buttons in the middle of each bow. 4. maybe add some ribbon on the sleeve where it cinches on your arms. probably sew the ribbon on with long tails so you have to tie the bow itself instead of sewing a premade bow. Also it seems the lace on the top has flower and/or bow pattern. Maybe get some crystals to glue in the middle of them or pearls to give it a more fancy effect 5. maybe use the round beads and sew it on the harness straps (almost like they are studs) / harder but cute option: if the fabric is large enough, replace the sleeves with the panda fabric 6. tie dye is cute. Another option is maybe do a gradient dye with the shade gradually getting lighter toward the bottom. Possibly use all the pocky patches and scatter it all around the dress. like a cute patch dress. Another option: cut the dress in a way to make it a two piece outfit. Using the panda or ice cream fabrics, cut it into strips to sew it along the sides of the sleeves and the skirt almost like the preppy tennis clothes 7. would be cute to go over the embroidered flowers with the colored thread and out a round bead in the middle. Possibly add a cute ribbon belt for a pop of color or texture 8. The bow patch done the sides of the leg are super cute. Also, use one of the fabrics to cover one of the back pockets. Optional: use embroidery thread to wrap the belt loops to give the pants a pop of color on the top as well.

I think dip dying an ombre onto the second to last item (the sheer dress) would look beautiful! And putting the fruit patches with the pearl beads in a diamond pattern on the long dress would look cute as well.

Item 1: dye it pink, cut the back in half, put in rivets down the back and lace either white, lilac, pink or sky blue down the rivots. Item 2: dye each different layer a different pastel Item 3:pastel lilac or pastel tye dye Item 4: die the lace bit a pink or lilac and the rest in the opposite (lilac or pink) Item 5: either keepit white or dye it and sew pastel lace to the entire harness. Item 6: tye- dye it, cut the sleeves short, and make it a 2 piece with the skirt being shorter and the top a slight belly top. Item 7: dye it all buttercup yellow or leave the lace bit white and dye the rest buttercup Item 8: sew bottom legs so they are a "skinny" fit. Distress them and in some areas leave holes. Then under the holes and destress areas sew different pastel colored fabrics, just for hints and peeks of pastel colors.

the sporty material top would look great with patches because of the kinda fabric it is, its opacity because of the fabric as compared to others which are more translucent is looking great for a yellow/lilac dyed shirt with patches (with probably gudetama buttons/patches all over! definitely leaning towards some yellow in that with lilac as a complimentary combination

I think putting the sushi and pocky patches on the jeans would so so so so cute!!!!
