I finally figured out a way to "mend" holes in stuff (cotton, wool, including sweaters) without searching the Internet - I am sure you and others may have, as well.... I use the iron on patches from the fabric store and iron them on the inside. Pick a color that blends in to whatever you are patching - I have patched wool jackets and sweaters so that you really can't notice the little patch peeking through. Great for small moth holes. I have saved several thrifted pieces this way (including some Ralph Lauren!). You just have to be careful about ironing for too long on wool!

been knitting a lot lately, my grandma taught me when I was little and I always forget how satisfying it is, but every winter or every other, I remember, and I take it up again. It's just so nice because you work with your hands, it's not particularly difficult or tricky, you can do it mindlessly to relax, and you can see your work so fast. Like, you can look at a sweater or a winter hat or just a rectangle and you know that you made that, and there was nothing a while ago and your hands made that and you can touch and feel and see the results of your labour, and I think that has something very deeply satisfying to it. I love seeing your yarn that you pick up! Also, when I was little my sister and I would always ask my grandma for scraps from all her thousand knitting projects and we made little rectangles out of all of them, and all of them had the same width but some were super tiny like barely a stripe and others were big rectangles, and we made a patchwork blanket out of it that we still have at our parents house. It's kinda ugly and it has all different types of yarn and such random colours, but it was cool to make something out of all the scraps that wouldn't have been enough to make something else out of them anymore. Our grandma used to knit clothes and hats for us all the time, and when we were young she'd even knit matching little cardigans and sweaters and hats for our dolls.

I'd love to see you alter the blue and white stripe sweater by cropping it! You can totally fix the hole in the purple sweater. You can either darn the holes or sew them up and cover with some embroidery. Great idea on the embroidery!

It's super easy to mend the hole in the purple jumper. Use wool/thread in a similar purple and starting about 2cm on one side start weaving the thread, then pick up the loop where the hole is and secure it, then keep weaving another 2cm past the hole. you'll never know the hole was there

Just went to value village recently and omg the prices have gone up luckily my value village partners with a charity so I feel a little bit better about spending money there.Some of the jackets/ coats have gone up to 20 to 30 dollars.Luckily I found a nice corduroy jacket for 12.That pink sweater was cute but not that cute...

I'm in the UK and I can see by looking at the rails of clothes that you have the same problem as we do, many of them, because they were cheap in the first place have had the 'life' taken out by multiple washing. They hang so limp and lifeless and not a lot can be done with most of them but bravo for trying. At least the wool/yarn in the bags are new. Making clothes from curtains is a good idea because they won't have been washed much, also skirts they won't have been washed nearly as much either. I have to be honest most of the items in this video I would have left on the rails.
