My mother had her dog cremated. That box would be perfect for her remaining ashes. In your case I hope that was just alot of dust collected.

The box looks like a vintage "URN" I've seen previously, they would've used for human remains, after cremation. Not saying it is, just looks similar to the one I saw at an antique shop..sorry! Lol! Very cute though 😍
