Join me as I show you an amazing day of thrifting on this snowy day in Wisconsin! When the weather outside is yucky I decided to go and hit all my local thrift shops! Part 1 of my thrifting adventure will be me hitting the Goodwill Outlet...aka the bins and then I will show you what I found and give you an idea of what I plan on doing with it. I initially had planned on showing you everything I found during my thrifting shopping spree but the video would have been way too long, so I broke it up into 2 videos.
At the end of the video, I asked everyone...When is Elvis's birthday?!? Well folks...Elvis and I share a birthday! Here's to a big ole' Happy Birthday Elvis!
Watch for Part 2 of my Thrift Haul on Monday! I can't wait to show you everything else I found! I'm going to be flipping, pricing and stocking my booths in the next few weeks and plan on bringing you all along for that piece of the process as well!
If you love videos like these, I have a playlist where you can find all of my Hauls:
• Thrift Haul
Enjoy!

My grandparents worked in a cotton mill weaving cloth in Connecticut. The wooden "sticks" are bobbins for the weaving machines. They also had cardboard cones at the mill which they took home when they were empty to use for heat in the stove. I have a bit of a collection of the spools and have them displayed in my antique kitchen cabinet! Great haul! There is a Goodwill outlet not too far from our town, so I think I'm going to have to scope it out. As always, it's fun watching what you find and come up with! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TOMORROW, SONNET!!!

The red pottery bowl with the spindle in the middle is an apple baker. In love with the bins even though I have to travel a couple of hours. People like us always find things in the bottom of the bins because the bin birds are picking for new stuff. Enjoyed shopping with you.

Crystal things look like stoppers for bar set decanters. Wooden spindles are for spinning fibers, possibly from a mill. The double round aluminum piece is a jello mold.

I have seen lots of videos where they make different things with the bobbins from Christmas trees to carrots. I have cut a wood bat in half, attached to a board and then put hooks in the bat. Using my cricut, I made a stencil and added a quote to the board. Sold fast! I'm going to make another one with the other half of the bat. 😁 Great Haul!!! ❤

The wooden sticks are definitely bobbins used in a weaving mill. I have a small collection of items from cotton and wool mills. The bobbins fit inside the shuttle, and the shuttles fit into a larger machine. I very much enjoyed your video on the bins. Sadly, there are none near me but it looks like it would be an adventure.

One day I was at the bins and they announced books was $5 per cart, as full as you could get the cart. I call the people who jump at the new bins vultures. They’re professionals. They fill their carts up and then evaluate and then put stuff back anywhere. My husband called the bins one step up from dumpster diving.😂😂😂😂 I love those houses with all the windows. They look so pretty with tea lights. I have both of the strainers in my kitchen. I saw one lampshade redone with book pages.

Love this haul and love the bins. I have one about 45 minutes away and don't get to go too often but this makes me want to go soon. I loved that purse! I am a non-purse carrier also...lol. BTW, the pottery jewelry holder is actually an apple baker dish. We have an "Apple Town" near us and we have an Apple Festival every year and those are pretty common here in Northwest Arkansas. 🙂

I was watching thrifting at the Goodwill outlet, I was watching your channel and all of a sudden while you were driving, I noticed that the road where your heading is going to the Appleton Goodwill outlet. I go there twice a week, it is fun, but so many resellers are there, all day long. They even take pictures of their finds and post it right away on Ebay. Lot of young people that is their way of making money. Hope to see you sometimes at the bin, I want to vlog at the bin also, but I'm afraid they won't let me do it. I should check your booth in New London, I lived in Menasha, 10 minutes away from the Goodwill outlet. I'm glad I found you. Good luck to you!

That's good for books. It's only $.49 a book at ours, which is much better than the other Goodwill's which charge $1.99. All the resellers/pickers do stay all day but it works for me because they don't ever want what I want. Lol I do recommend wearing gloves you be amazed how dirty it really is digging in there. I can't even go to the regular Goodwill anymore because of all you get for the price. Thank you for sharing. Oh and the wood sticks are vintage bobbins.

Our bins charge by the pound- I believe it's up to 1.59 a pound so the big heavy items- not a great deal. I love finding artificial flowers or anything light weight. I have found that waiting for 50 percent off day at the local goodwill is a lot better deal. I try not to spend over 3 dollars a piece for anything. Most of the items I thrift are between 1 and 2 dollars. But......what a hoot- love going to our bins- close to my house- the people just pounce when the whistle blows- like rats at the landfill!!

I really enjoyed watching this haul. I could NEVER shop in your goodwill bin store. I'd buy WAY too much stuff! I especially love the Parcheesi game. It's a lot of fun to play. I wish I lived close enough to buy it! Have you ever considered opening an Etsy store? You could post some of the items you have in your booths (like the Parcheesi game) and have an even wider range of shoppers to buy your treasures. The rolling pin, hmmm....how about making the handles stationary when you repair it, paint it up all shabby chic, attach a piece of rope to hang it and market it as a towel holder for the kitchen, maybe even find an old embroidered dishtowel to display on it. Like you said, the lampshades really are in nice shape. Maybe you could use them as they are and create lamps out of some of your haul finds to go with them? Just a thought. One of the metal pieces you bought remind me of an old jello mold...not sure if that's what it is. How about making your cutting boards two sided? Leave the decorative sides the way they are and maybe use your stamps to create a sign on the back making them reversible? Or maybe attach a wire basket to the cutting board with the bird on it so the painting could still be seen, but the basket could hold some kitchen items? Or add some old drawer knobs to the bottom of the one with the bird and use it as a table centerpiece to hold just a bit of greenery and a candle or two? Just one more thing, my heart skipped a beat when you picked up the little ceramic bunny pulling a cart, then put him back in the bin and he tumbled down into the darkness. I painted that same little bunny/cart when I did ceramics a LONG time ago! Sweet memories...so, when you go back again, I think you should look for him and take him home with you! He would be so cute with a small plant or even filled with foil covered chocolate eggs in one of your booths for Easter!

My husband and I stumbled on the "bins" outlet store one day on an out of town trip. We were like you, when we went in everyone was just standing around the outside with their carts mostly full not doing anything. Then all of a sudden, out came the bins and everything went crazy. People had rubber gloves on and face masks, before face masks were a thing and everything was in a frenzy. It was pretty scary. HA! We never went back. But now that you have shown all the great things you found, maybe we will give it a try again. At least this time, we will know what's going on.

It just looks like trash (even though it isnt) and I'm scared of what I'm touching when I stick my hand in there. When the stuff is on the shelves, you can touch what you want to touch deliberately. I’m in CT. I braved the bins during the Summer with my sister. She hated it. I loved it. Loved digging threw the bins. The one in CT is in Hamden. I don’t know if there is another. Give it a try!

Sonnet, so funny that you showed the Goodwill Outlet, and that they brought out the bins hourly or so.. Anyway, I live in Texas and used to travel to Austin Tx to shop at a place called the Blue Hanger. They gad the same concept and it was a Goodwill. It was so much fun back in the day. I enjoyed your video.

Thank you Peggy! 🤗 How fun! I love Austin! I used to travel for work and have been to Austin several times. It reminds me of a town called Madison which is a few hours from my home. I’m lucky I didn’t know about the Blue hanger otherwise I would have been paying extra for baggage on my flights 🤣

Hi. Love the stuff you found at the Goodwill outlet. Never have found one here in South Georgia. Since you mentioned that your daughter is into softball, maybe instead of cutting the bats in half, you could use them to hold curtains or valances in her bedroom. I actually used baseball bats when my son was playing baseball when he was in school for valances. Just an idea I’m throwing out to you.

I've been to the bins twice, but always arrive close to closing. But I live 2 hours away. I tend to buy a lot of wood, but love to find metal things, too. Last time I found 2 purses, one being a Fossil - all leather. The second had dogs on it. I'm a cat person, but I know dog people. Don't discount some of the vintage items. The Crazy Lamp Lady has videos of her going to the bins, to get an idea of other things that sell.
