You bought my dad’s painting at curiosities! He was from Grants Pass and owned it. He wasn’t the artist. I sold it at a garage sale in Sherwood over 2 years ago. I love that painting! And I agree, it definitely needs a black frame. Love seeing its journey! Thank you🤗

OMG!!! I live in NY now but knew the artist Stuart Mendelson from Grants Pass that painted the artwork you bought! He has since passed away. He was an amazing shoemaker as well

I love Scotland! We did a 3-week tour for our honeymoon in 1989. As for the "Scotch Highlands" painting ... that's sort of a faux pas! We had a driver who told us: "Scots are a people, Scotch is a drink ... but we're both quite tasty."

Oh Laura you just reminded me of my lovely, funny dad, to make us laugh whilst washing up he'd put the cat shaped tea cosy on his head, which amongst family is very cute. Not sure what the milkman thought when dad paid him for the week, stopped, chatted and neither batted an eyelid at a 6ft man wearing a padded ginger cat on his head 😂

the round wooden box is from the European alps. 1950s ..60s, probably Swiss or Austrian. the flowers on it are the classical top 3 alpine flowers: edelweiss, gentian, and alpine rose.

I can't believe I saw a red leather vintage coach bag with the 3 inch wide strap. OMG IM DYING Laura. ( it's so fun to see all the stuff ) Coach made 3 inch wide leather straps and it's very hard to find them.

In the south we use those sectioned pans for cornbread. That way each slice has lots of crispy parts!

Those coats at the beginning are Capotes made from blankets. Many re-enactors make them for events. Looks like they had some made out of Hudson Bay 5 point blankets. Over the years, I made a few for my ex for his mountain man re-enacting. Pendleton and Hudson Bay were the most common blankets used.

The round cast iron divided in wedges is a cornbread pan to make individual cornbread wedge bread pieces.

Fun fact. Poland sells gnomes cheaper than in Germany. Gnomes are such a tradition that you are only allowed to bring as many for your use into the country. Not enough to sell. I bought 10 for me and my mother and they let me through.

My son and family live in Sherwood. My husband and I have done some shopping in Railroad Antiques-beautiful sterling silver necklace for me and a coin and lantern for him. It is a grownup store-took us both back to our childhood in the 60’s!

I gotta say- I love the antique malls and unique resell stores you go to. They are so well curated and it’s just cool for me ( at least) to shop vicariously through you. It’s an opportunity to see such cool stuff. Although your Goodwills are exceptional, and I’m sure many will disagree- but I like the specialty shops. It’s good if you to patronize them as well.
