Oh, Debi. This seahorse dresser is incredible! My friend paints furniture and cranks out a few pieces per week. I, on the other hand, can only produce a piece every few weeks. I know all too well the pain of staring at a piece for days/weeks waiting on inspiration and second guessing myself. Believe me, your end product is always extraordinary. Quality always wins over quantity for us perfectionists, my friend! 💕

Debi, your personality is so sweet and humble. I just wish you saw yourself through the same eyes as your viewers. Everytime that I paint a new piece of furniture I am asking myself, "is this what Debi would do...how would Debi make this look better?". You have a rare talent that just cannot be honed or refined. You either have it, or you don't...and YOU, my dear girlie, HAVE IT!!!🎨🖌️

OK for what it's worth, here's what I see.... you are a designer with a keen eye in knowing how to arrange your space, color and style. You are not like the other women because your different, the flow of ideas just keep coming. BTW from what I saw in your chalk drawing you did well with drawing too...you just need to stop panicking and trust that inner voice that helps you create! Proof of all of this is the 189k subscribers that just can't wait to see what you will come up with next.

I have been thinking of this response about Debi’s drawing all weekend. I’m a watcher. I watch people’s hands. An older lady stitching. The way a mom holds her kid that certain way. A male boss who can handle paper - he became my husband & in so many ways, I think the way he handled those pages caused me to fall in love with him & I’d only just met him. This was 1978 & to this day I still see the way he flattened crumpled files. It was an oyster company and inventory is taken out on the tidelands. The same paper in my hands would have possibly ripped and in his, they got tamed. When you look at the way that Debi paints and then how she draws, there is a marked difference. Yes! I think she can draw too. But listen to the story she tells of paint and then see how she paints. Even though she may not know where she’s going, she has something in her minds eye. The way she handles the paint and her brushes! There is a love there. Look at how she handles the chalk. I just think she doesn’t love drawing. She doesn’t have a NEED to find out “what’s next” in her creativity with drawing. Anyway, that’s what I saw when I watched her draw. I wouldn’t have tried to reply except, it seems to me that her hands when she paints sing. Not so much when she draws. I love to watch her hands when she paints!

This may sound bizarre, but you sound like "my" inner voice. I know & accept who/what I am/what I'm not and it's terrifying sometimes to put myself out there or step outside my comfort level...because I hate being judged for not being the "all star" [I think] everyone else is (The one's I look up to or try to emulate) Turns out they have their own issues and I just need to do me, do what I love, and love what I do. Cause you know I'm only here for a little while. My partner has been encouraging me to take that walk more often and after I do, I think, hey, self... that wasn't so bad...in fact some of it was kind of fun, even if down-right terrifying/nerve racking at times. My new idols are the ones not afraid to share that they are introverts or afraid (or have been) it helps all feel a little bit more normal and less like we're in some competition You go girl... you deserve it - we all do!

Seriously....you could have kept all that to yourself and no one would have been the wiser. But you didn't!! You have shown everyone who watches that we are all human and have these types of thoughts and feelings. And it's OK!! Love your candor....love your artistry.

Both dressers are amazing! I would've hated to part with the faux Anthropology dresser too. But you can make another one someday. I love your videos because your story always is raw and it shines a light on something in all of us (If we're honest) and teaches us to be vulnerable and to look deep within. I think making these videos are your true calling. I'm just sorry they're so difficult/painful for you to do! And Jami gave you good advice to use the clear was over the white! I love her attitude towards painting furniture and her canvasses - she doesn't stress over it. I don't know if that's extreme confidence or what!!

Debbie, being real and honest is so refreshing and brave ! I can so relate to your thoughts and I sometimes am afraid being rejected when telling my thoughts innocently like a child letting me bare and vulnerable for other people´s reactions. But I would rather be hurt by rude people than become unreal and fake .

Debbie being creative, artistic and talented doesn't mean that everyone will like our end result, but a individual that loves all things creative will be able to see the beauty in the piece. I might not want every artistic expression in my home but it still speaks to me and moves me. I always love what you create, but if someone is ever less than enthusiastic about one of your works try to remember this. As far as how you felt about your dresser ,I totallt understand, I have felt the exact same way. It is hard to part with creations because they have a part of you in them and feel like your children in a way. Just know that you have more likes out there than not. Love you,God bless you and yours.😘

You have gave me ideas and pushed me. I still need to do everything to get myself out in the world. After my brother died two years ago I told myself that I will try to do what makes me happy. Happy is creating, color, art. It’s all around us. I’m inspired by everything. I think about it all the time. I just need to figure out how to get myself out in the world. Oh my sweet Lord. I needed this today. Do you ever feel like someone in a video is talking to you? Your quote about “creativity being a muscle that gets stronger as you use it”, was brilliant, and so true! Just watching this video for the first time. This and the original white dresser are some of my favorite pieces that I have seen you create. I think that the anxiety of teaching in front of others is normal for an introvert. Your designs always turn out beautiful. I also think it is normal, when you are an artist, to find beauty in your own creation, knowing the amount of time it took to create it, and not wanting wanting to part with it once it is completed. That does not make you selfish, it makes you human. I also understand the winner being so excited to win a piece of art that you designed. That would be priceless. Thank you for being honest and showing your reluctance to give away your own work but thank you. Also following through God bless you.

I admire your honesty and willingness to 'put the total truth out there'. You have a wonderful talent and that is indeed a gift. The fact that you share so much of yourself online and your willingness to not focus on a 'perfect presentation of yourself' amps your artistry to the maximum level. You are human - sadly many artists only share their highest accomplishments and never share any self-doubts. I refuse to view such perfectionists, just as I do not watch soap operas. I am a total realist. People are not perfect. I do not respect or admire phony people. You are the Real Deal - that is to be admired. Sometimes I am my worst critic when everyone around me LOVES it. I still may have something negative to say about what I’ve done. I don’t do really do that anymore cause I accept where I’m at & the way my brain works & I’m pretty happy about the way I am cause we do add a magical touch that people may or may not like. Tears...for the BEAUTY that came from the internal turmoil that speaks to SO MANY of US. Tears because you acknowledge what so many of us go through...awe of others who seem to do with 'Ease' what we do with 'Complication'. Today's digital world can take us back to the anxieties I call 'high school'. Some one does it better, faster, more artistically, etc..etc..etc. Magic pours from each of us in entirely different ways...and that in itself is 'Magic'. Its our own creative fingerprint. Thank you for your generous spirit - you speak to so many of us. You remind us that even with struggles...our own version of 'Magic' will appear. The Seahorse is BEYOND!! Without question - there will be so many interpretations of this glorious piece..but again..each will have its own 'Magical fingerprint'. Blessings to you Debi - for all we admire in you - your Kindhearted honest vulnerability is most respected and gives our own vulnerabilities a sigh knowing we are not alone in our personal journeys. Blessings and heartfelt thank you for all you share. 💙 MAGIC!!!

This piece is AMAZING! I'm still blown away by the fact that the embellishments you add to some of your furniture pieces are clay. Everything you do has its own uniqueness and beauty, and differ from one piece to the next. Yes, the other creators/artists have their own style, but I love seeing how diverse your creativity can be. I'm never bored, because your projects aren't cookie-cutters of all your other projects. Great job, Debi! 😄👍

Debi, what the people producing that stage demonstration demanded of you WAS NOT FAIR OR KIND.....not to you, and not to the audience, many of whom without doubt shared your artistic traits MORE than those of the 2 hour wonders. What you did here is wonderful. It’s huge. So loving toward us all, and though I already loved you, sweet youtube friend, and always admired you, I love you all the more, precious soul that you are. You were born for this time, you just were.

Your story brought tears to my eyes. The love for your first creation and then the struggle and self doubt followed by affirmation... The thing is, the second dresser is for you. Nobody but you has to love it. Still,. Approval from others is such a fix. Everyone wants it. In the KZbin world, it's everything. But in your house, your HOME, you can take joy in a hot mess and nobody can change that. That dresser isn't a hot mess, by the way; it's inspiring!

Love, love your stories, as much as I love your creations!!! The dresser and the embellishments, so original. Beautiful detailing, and I think you can draw great, those details you put in that seahorse and the way you sized it to fit the front, is the work of artist that can draw. You always knock it out of the park, Debbie!

Almost everything I create I doubt. Even though the client, friends, family tell me its wonderful! I go back to look at it a couple days later and think "ok, this is really good!". Sometimes it is super hard to part with a particularly fantastic piece. You are fun to watch and your work is beautiful and inspiring.

Wow 😮 you creativity expands beyond boundaries most never achieve but aspire to. Thank you for your pure honesty and beautiful soul! I’m a scrapbook paper designer and i designed this digital kit called “Mermaid Chronicles” and it was by far my best work, but like you I kept second guessing myself over and over at every step - eventually I sold the copyrights to a large scrapbook manufacturer and that sent my career off as a designer! - Your videos have really been an incredible inspiration for me...they have given me hope...and have reminded me that I’m not alone in this creative journey! Thank you!

The seahorse turned out absolutely gorgeous! I know I can over think a project and then I just become more frustrated with it and I just walk away. I recently had a project like that. I couldn’t come up with the right colors to compliment each other. I finally got it to work out and I love it! Lovely share! Have a beautiful weekend!😃👍

Debbie Thank you for sharing your story and being so honest and open. Sharing your creative process, including doubts and mistakes has encouraged me to get busy with my jewelry making. Your video reminded me that creativity is a process and sometimes going down the rabbit hole leads you to something completely different but better.

That is the most beautiful dresser I've ever seen, honestly! Don't get me wrong the first one was gorgeous and anyone would love to have it but the seahorse had the same intricacies with an added uniqueness to it that is just breathtaking like you can just see the life lessons in the story that goes with it in all the little details.

Thank you for this video. You inspired me to go downstairs and finish a project. I started my new life painting furniture and smalls just a few months ago. I am in awe of all the talent I see in the artists I watch. It is difficult to work on projects because I feel like my 'mind' needs to go through some funky process before I can perform. But when I do perform, it just flows. So maybe my mental stuttering is the way I flow. It will probably never change but that's okay. It's me. It's easier to accept that then try to change it. All of your work is so beautiful and obviously comes from your heart. Thank you again.

Debi! Great idea about using clear wax for an eraser and using a freezer to slow clay drying time! I remember the first time I designed a web site professionally and cried while working because it was such a learning curve. But I did it, and got paid for it. I cried when I tried to hang wall paper too. And I'm not usually one to cry very easily … but doing new things as an artist can be so very difficult, and yet we are always glad when we do them, I think. Just remember of all the people out there who never get past the tears and are never really able to create much at all.

Hi Debi, thanks for your honesty. Most people don't like honesty, they would rather have the sugar coating. It's like that with soooooo many things in our life. People would rather have the lie than the "truth" in most anything. Love, love, love this piece (not a sea horse fan) but I do remember you posting the floral one with the same concept. This is stunning and hopefully I will try something like this one day for myself. Thank you for your time and your talent and stories. So many of us can relate to so many of them. Have a great day!

Good job Debi. Many people would have handled that situation differently. Maybe lied about something and kept the dresser. You did not. You pushed through your thoughts and did the right thing. Be proud of yourself. I believe if you had acted selfishly you ultimately would not have been able to really enjoy the dresser in the long run. This way, you maintain your integrity, and can move on. Kudos to you! God will bless you big for it!

Debí, my heart breaks at the thought that you had to give up your “wedding cake” dresser. That was probably my favorite piece you’ve ever created! Your creativity knows no limits. You are way to hard on yourself, I truly don’t know if I would’ve had the grace to send that winner that exquisite dresser, but you did. If you ever decide to replicate it, we will all watch! This sea horse is absolutely beautiful and I love this video! Can’t wait to watch it again later on my big tv! 💗
