Agree! Sometimes Vintage stores can carry high end designers or very beautiful high quality/design clothes that have been carefully curated. You would be a very lucky person to find any designer/ high quality clothes in a Goodwill or Savers. I got lucky once and found a Marc Jacob's wool pleated skirt but nothing as high quality yet and I've been thrifting for 12 years. Still can find great fun pieces though, just not what you would find/pay for in a vintage store.

Steam press the wool. Lay it like you want it to be and steam it with puffs of steam with your steam iron and cover the coat with wool organza press cloth, don't apply pressure. Puff the steam into the wool, warm it and shape it and lay it like you want it to look. That collar will go back into place. The interlining may be what is misbehaving because of being washed, and steaming and blocking will put it right. Or use your steamer if you have one. Get the collar or lapel damp and warmed up so you can shape it and leave it under the clapper until the wool is cooled and dried. Or- Take it to a professional presser at the drycleaners and ask for help with steaming it sufficiently, or to an tailor shop. Are there any Italian tailors near you? They are all aging out of the business, but there might be someone who can show you how to fix this. It is too nice to let slide. This is an important part of wearing vintage, knowing how to resurrect the fabric on older items. Good luck, it is my favorite item you bought.

Ooh it's so weird to see you in stores I usually go to!! I live in the suburb of paris and I love going on a day of thrift shopping in the Marais, Freep' star is usually the shop I find most of the things I like and buy, but I did manage to find a beautiful puffy skirt in Kilo Shop Kawaii. And in one of the shops, they have this 1€ corner (basically like the 4€ one in Kilo Shop), it's a complete mess and a pain to look through it but last time I found an amazing winter coat, it was flawless, grey and quite thick, with a nice belt. I was super happy, just as if I had gone on a treasure hunt!

Also these are actually more like vintage stores, the pieces are pre-selected hence the price, and most often they're clothes imported from abroad and not stuff local people give away. There are some actual charity shops like Emmaüs but they're not located in the center of Paris which is a very expensive and touristic area

Most of them are that price because they're missing a button or have a default, but there are some nice clothes to find or to transform (I found a light blue blazer that was missing a few buttons there and transformed it into an Alice from Wonderland jacket)

The way American and Canadian thrift stores work is so much more fun! I'm German and my impression is that thrift stores here are few and far in between. Most are less about supporting charity projects and providing affordable options. Many don't get their items by donation. Its all usually far more curated towards particular styles and tastes. Which isn't necessarily bad but I enjoyed shopping at the Thrift Store and Value Village while in Canads and the USA much more and found much more interesting pieces. There is one of those stores where you shop by weight here in Hamburg though and I love it. Its also way cheaper than the one in Paris.

Hey, I find that there is a huge different of price between "vintage" shops and "second-hand" (friperies) shops in Paris. I personally love fri'p'star and guerrissol and the flee market of Montreuil, but you have to get your hands dirty and go deeply into the piles of clothing and the racks ! You can even find stains, dirt or holes on the items !!! Hope you had a great time !

Thank you for sharing, love the fact that you got to go all the way to France. I thought about your wool coat and it is dry-clean, "but", you can some times fix those little mistakes we made, to fix the collar and make it more like it was before the washing machine, use a white wet piece of fabric and with your hot iron, place the wet fabric nicely and straight on top of each corner and press with your hot iron, do both front and back and repeat the steps to the other side and make sure to wet the piece of fabric since it will dry up every time you use the hot iron. Make sure you use one that is 100% cotton. Hope it works and we love to know if it does. Keep up the good work.

Fun seeing the Paris shops...it made me feel very lucky though to be in Antigua, Guatemala where we get imported vintage and wholesale end of season things shipped in from the USA. I am a US size 10 which is large for local women AND local women have a totally different shape than Americans mostly (not many hourglass shapes here which I am) so they have to tailor everything they buy form jeans on up. That leaves me with most of the size 10 and mediums that are shipped in to shop among (they all are size small or extra small). Most items on hangers are around $3-4 US dollars and shoes were also that price but have gone up to $10 a pr since Christmas this year...this is for new unused shoes, boots and sandals. Again I wear a 8.5 US shoe and they wear 6's or so , so I have my pick of everything. I am so so lucky and have the largest wardrobe of my life now. SO much fun shopping here.....leather and suede jackets, leather and vintage alligator handbags, some really gorgeous clothes make it here, even silk blouses, tops and dresses sometimes.

Basically, in the kilo shops you weigh the clothes you want to buy and the price depends on the weight and the price by kilo that day. For example, if you want to buy clothes that weigh 1,2 kg, you multiply that by the price per kg and you get your price. In that particular 2nd hand store the price depends on the colour of the tag, in others it might depend on the day of the week. In Poland, where I live, the price per kilo is the highest on the day when the stock is new and goes down as the days go by. So, the day before new stock is put out you can get clothes for dirt cheap, especially heavy things like coats, heavy sweaters or bags. The best things are usually gone on the first day, but even on the last one you can find some gems. Hope I helped. :)

About kilo shop: It's pretty trendy around Paris, there is actually many of them. You can even find some in mall, which is very rare in France! For each kind of clothing (jacket, leather coat, t-shirt, pants...) à different price per kilo. Actually I think it's pretty expensive and the choice is pretty limited. Each time I went I would just go back empty hands. As said in the other comments, some other stores are way better and cheaper, even though it's really messy. But those store help unemployed people having a job, and some of the benefits goes to associations (like the "solidaire" one you found). I don't know if you have this in America, but here you can find in every cities those "clothes recycling bin". If the clothes are in very bad shape, they go to recycling (construction material...), the rest goes to associations who fix then sell them in thrift shops, or give it to people who really need it. Glad to enjoyed your trip to France!

Yes, $33 would be high for many of our thrift stores, but not so much for vintage stores. However, I'm always floored at the prices of clothes at our Bay Area (San Francisco & surrounding counties) Goodwill stores. Not even very good quality either. So wondering, in the first store of you showed, were these clothes of high quality, they looked like it. If they were, $33 for an outfit wouldn't be to bad a price at all. I loved those black and white plaid pants and what an amazing fit too. Finished the video, great shopping trip and thanks for taking us. All the clothes you purchased were cute, but my faves were the b&w pants, the bulk & pink sweater (loved it), the blue floral blouse and the overall shorts (darling). I am also in love with that yellow mustard color this year and have purchased several items in it. So glad to have found you, I'm now a sub....

I have heard about how expensive/terrible thrift stores are in France, but then again, American's have the most expensive health care in the world, so I guess you can't have it all, lol. I’d be so upset if I walked in and saw those prices. Everything you got though is super cute so it’s def worth it. Happy holidays girl ♥️

Hi April! I went to Kilo in Paris, a couple of them actually and didn't see anything fabulous...I was dissapointed to see a lot of older fast fashion stuff H&M, etc. I did see one really fab sheer beaded top, but the beads were so heavy it would have been quite expensive so it was a no. You found great places! The one in Mortmonte sounds awesome!

The only time I go to second hand shops is when I'm visiting Brno in Czech Republic. There are trift stores where you can get a piece of clothing for 50 Czech Korunes, which is around 2€.

You did a great review on all your fab thrift items, iv never got shoes from a thrift store tho as I'm so worried about people having feet diseases and can't put them in the washing machine, although you could just clean them inside with a disinfectant and then put inner soles in them. Just be mindful About that. Other than that little thing I loved everything on you! Xx

You have GOT to hit LONDON!!! Without a DOUBT we are the cheapest place to buy second hand/ thrift shop clothing...too many places to name because these shops are almost EVERYWHERE, however you can try CAMDEN TOWN in CENTRAL LONDON for starters, I guess GOOGLING it would soon solve that problem. GOOD LUCK! 😊

I actually learned something quite interesting about French thrift shop that I found quite disgusting Here in France, we have special bins to put out clothes in once we stop wearing them, or when we need to empty our dressing room. On the bin we can see the logos of various charity associations, which makes us think that we give our clothes to charity, that they will be available for very low prices for people who can’t affort brand new expensive clothes. In fact, all those bins are operated by private companies, who rent the name and image of charity association, collect the clothes people are giving away, and then they sell it to thift shop (mostly in Paris) where those donated clothes are going to be sold at a relatively high price. Which means that they never really go to charity...

Go thrifting here in the philippines! Prices vary but mostly they’re less than $20. You can even find items less than a dollar 😉 Also, there are so many stores here in the philippines that sells new clothes without brands that are so cute and trendy which costs less than $10 😎
