Honey, you really don't know what you have with the silver plaque. They are modernist mexican relgious art by brother Gabriel chavez de la mora osb from 1950-1970s . If they have talleres monasticos o talleres emaus seal they are original. This artist is a very famous liturgical architect. He designed the new basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. I have seen those plaques sell from 100 to 200 dollars for those who know.

For $3.99 Id have bought the copper tray and eith have a mirror cut for the center, added an old photo to the center, or a piece of needlework to the center. It would have looked great as a frame. Also, DO NOT paint that Mary/Jesus piece! I think it's from a well known artist tho I could be wrong. Do your research first, it may be worth at least $100. Too bad you left one behind.
