I have that Simplicity book. It was one of the first book I purchased to learn to sew. It has been used and loved for years. I started sewing at age 20 , I am now 77 and still sewing. Thank you for bring back memories. I still have my copy and would not part with it. Simplicity published a series of sewing books and I have a few of them.

Oh my goodness - what a wonderful surprise. Whilst watching your video I spotted the Vogue 2576 pattern which I purchased and made up in 1974. I used the exact same colours as on the right of the cover (pink/wine). It was made for the annual ball and I felt wonderful until - can you believe another lady arrived wearing the exact same dress. Luckily we laughed about it and pretended we were twins, we did look pretty similar. Thank you for evoking a happy memory.

Love all the windows in the background. The Lanvin pattern reminds me of Princess Diana. The yellow and green sewing room looks very late 60s early 70s! I love color makes a. room look warm and inviting or happy.

@@Lisamakes I haven't done much pattern sewing in the past. Stick to making bags from thrifted jeans, and a bit of early stage quilting. I also have a fabric fettish.🤔 But needing to de stash my stash, so having a time of no buying the fabric. Started yesterday, lol! Have a few projects allowed, but will see how long I last. Love a bargain. Happy sewing!!

I adore vintage garments and started sewing in December 2017 (my cousin is a Dressmaker and she taught me and helps me when I need help on certain sewing techniques) and thus far I have made over 25 vintage garments for myself and I do wear them out. I purchased a medium size clothes basket for $20; contained an 1875 James McCall Ladies Shirt Blouse in my size that was never used and being made in England by my friend who is a Dressmaker teacher, Simplicity 1930's gown, Vogue 1947 vest and vest blouse, McCall's Shirley Temple Doll pattern, Wardrobe of a dress and Cape pattern for a size 12 girls in 1930's, 1928/1929 Girls size 10 dress, 1907 one year old girl dress pattern, 1930's Electra dress pattern, mail order dress pattern 1930's, Chinese sewing basket which was made in 1900-1940, however, I have the genuine Chinese coins worth over $60 (4)from the 1800's and Peking Beijing glass beads and it was lined, 3 ivory flat thimbles, 1906 Austrian Governor inauguration button, Love heart burlap fabric of 3 years, transfer vintage patterns and papers, vintage apron pattern and sewing notions. I was floored and I think it was owned by a little girl due to the Austrian button in 1906 which the little girl was in the 3rd grade and her family was invited to the inauguration which King Edward appointed the new Governor of Australia. Her family may have given her all of the patterns and she just saved them and looked at them; they have not been open and still factory fold which amazes me. I have a Sewing book of 1948 is my oldest; Vogue Sewing 1972 which was never open, Simplicity, Butterick and McCalls sewing book of 1974-1988. I also have reference books on clothing in the 18-20th centuries detailing each garment piece from hats to shoes and accessories. I found sewing patterns also in the thrift stores for 5-58 cents of vintage 1950-1980's of dresses, wrap skirts and slacks. great video

I am just laughing my butt off watching your video. I am 67 and have about 85% of those patterns you just showed and over the years have made them all. The only one I don’t have is the Issey Miyake ( I LOVE Issey patterns and have collected them since he first started) and the first pattern (long dress). I will keep looking for the Isley pattern bc I’m not going to pay the huge amounts they want on line. Your haul is fab and you are going to really enjoy making them. Some of them I still use. Since I just redesigned my sewing room (purple/coral) I actually went through all my patterns and got rid of quite a few including some Issey patterns. Did you say you sell some of yours, on Etsy?

Aah Lisa, the green eyed monster has hit me hard...not only have you got my favourite Issey Myake pattern, but so many of your haul have my name on them! Not only did your neighbour loan you the Issey, but you've got one! Everytime I see one online they're from US which means the pattern plus the postage is horrendous, especially since some sellers add more postage than they should. Do they think we can't check US rates to UK and Ireland??? I wish I could visit Canada, sneak in and trace that pattern.... see the monster is laughing at me 😆 .... unfortunately I can't do charity shops for a long time. I've found in UK charity shops are more au fait with oop patterns, they put them on eBay. I just bought a Natalie Bray book, cheaper than Amazon by a few pounds but still expensive....

@@Lisamakes I wear an 8/10 but unlike you I'm 4'10"! Tonight I was looking, as you do, at Vogue patterns and one of yours was £34. Another, the colour blocked long dress by Lanvin was, if I recall around £60. Inc postage. I did bid on 3 patterns, and bought one of yours which was a fortune with a few sellers, I screenshot any I like then put the no in and got it for £4. I think your advice on checking the pattern against Instagram is just brilliant! The Lanvin dress, I think would be lovely done one colour with another perhaps one or two shades lighter, or in the same colour but different textures, just a thought, as my being small, I feel colour blocking shortens me? You mentioned too the flowy skirt, believe it or not, I still have a few of mine from early 80's and early 90's and I wouldn't get rid of them! In saying that, this is the person who has shoes 47yrs old and less. They keep coming back into fashion, just like the patterns.... now if I still had my 60's/70's stuff which I did until the early 90's.....it broke my heart....🤣 I put that as I'm sure your lovely followers think I'm mad?? (I am) oh, Thank you for that kindness... 're the Issey Myake pattern....
