It's always a thrill when I see an alert for one of your videos come in. This was definitely a satisfying hunt, finding all of those relics as well as the silvers. It also looks like a brisk but sunny day. Oh wonderful time to be out in nature. The green buckle part was really beautiful, a striking color. As a New World person I am always envious of medieval or Renaissance items. In my area, the 1600s had no metal working, just Native Americans. Although I have found arrowheads, I have no idea what year they might've been made.

What a splendid historical field. Great fines from the early 1900s back to the year 800. It must have something special there to draw many civilizations. I imagine it may have been a forest or woodland long ago. Was there a water source nearby like a river or small stream. They were a much needed resource to survive and thrive. Thank you for your wonderful film staging and history lessons of the treasures found. GL & HH.

It is always interesting to guess what happened on these fields. most of the time it is just a field where people of the past used to dump their household litter in order to fertilize them. sometimes you can of course find old settlement places, too. thank you for watching and for your kind comment :)

I really enjoy your videos and I am happy when I see one waiting for me to watch. I am an avid metal detectorist here in the States. Although some of my finds are from colonial periods, you can never find anything older. Its great to watch you dig items from ancient times only Europe can offer. Thanks for your work. If I may make a request please? It would be nice to see or hear a date on more of your finds. Like the button in this video. You mentioned a time period that it came from that many people from different continents may not be familiar with. Thank you and keep up the good videos.

Hans, The disk fibula was especially marvelous but those two silver coins were also exquisite. Mauser bayonets have a hole of some sort in that metal near the butt. One side has a rectangular hole and the other side has a round button that is the release. You've got to have something to secure it to the rifle and usually it's at the back.

What a wonderful field to detect Hans, lots of rubbish but some fantastic goodies as well. I have never seen a round fibular brooch before and given how ancient that is the condition is amazing. The scallop shell is I think a pilgrim's badge but I can't remember where it came from. So you have a wide range of objects from many different times, it makes me wonder what else you'll find there. Take care my friend, good luck and happy hunting Hans Mary-Ellen UK

It has been three weeks since you posted your last video. Seems like ages, missing you ,and your wonderful videos. I know that the winter season is upon us. Very cold weather for the Eastern United States from the 6th of December through the 20th. The same for across the pond. Take care Hans, will watch passed videos, stay warm. Sweet peas. Lovely finds.

hello myrtha, I know. . haha. .I would love to go out detecting and filming. but as you have assumed correctly the weather is dreadful here and not suitable for proper detecting. stay warm too and all the best to you my friend, hans

I'm happy to hear that robbert :) thank you for watching! I quite often get this request but as I haven't got a collection it would be difficult to make a video like that. I hand over all substantial finds to the department of archaeology. all the best, hans

I didn't know that. But that's the right way to handle historical finds :) Good work! Looking forward to your next adventure!

maybe you can borrow one to see if it is the right hobby for you. detecting laws in america are quite liberal as far as I know...

Hi Hans, I know this is an older video that I only just watched. I just wanted to say that our family are the Darmstaedters from Darmstadt, now in America. Cool to see a coin from there.
