I had not seen a horse pendant before and to see it after you had cleaned it fascinated me. I was thinking about some of the European and Asian history of my country AUSTRALIA. I thank the Dutch were first of the Europeans to visit in the 1600s but the Aboriginal communities had been trading with Indonesians for thousands of years before in fishing. The Aborigines have a history here of 80 000 years or more as far as I know. Thank you again and I wish you well and happy detecting. Andy

So glad you got a worthwhile find! My favorite though was the door hinge. I think about the life of that hinge and how on earth it got on that field. You know, we live in our houses, never thinking that a day might come when they're demolished and something else is put in their places. I would imagine that whoever lived in the house where that hinge was placed that they never imagined their house would be demolished and that single, forgettable hinge would one day end up buried in a non-descript field. Of course, I guess the hinge could have broken and needed to be replaced and the house still stands. Who knows? That's why objects like that are interesting to me. I want to know their story! Thanks for giving me my Friday trip to Germany. I look forward to my mini-trips!

That hinge his called a hook and band style of hinge, also used for Window shutters and stable doors. 👍

The OLD DOOR HINGE was similarly used in Australia for early settlers for the base hinge of iron pot holders over the fireplace...

Nice new musics, Hans. Another difficult search in a very challenging place but this pommel and the silver coin testified your time spent in it was not lost. Maybe this field would be worth another visit next year with the Déus 2 FMF If you intend to invest. I do not know about you in Germany, but in France, the detecting community is buzzing about the release of this new XP detector. Tschuss

Subscribed, awesome coins you found, My brother and I just started detecting these past few months and always talk about how amazing it would be to detect in Germany. New York here so our history doesn't go as far back as Germany but we did find a lot of old coins recently and surprisingly a Finnish coin from 1873 in a place we couldn't understand how it got there.
