Excellent film Simon. Would love to experience those lines and stations but you're a great ambassador for the rails in the Republic. Well done and keep up the great work my friend.

Lol it does sound like a detective show God them Loco hauled trains sound good! Also them trains sound a bit like 175s for some reason. Still there's some awesome stations on this quadrouple mainline!

Great Video! Kishoge station was actually built in 2009 along with the rest of the Kildare route project but never opened because of a lack of housing in the area. The station itself got into quite a bad condition over the years and a lot of money had to be spent to fix it up. It should eventually open later this year.

Thank you. I did put in the wrong date sorry. It reminds me of a Station in London called Oakleigh Park as the station was built in the 1866 but didn't open until 1872 due to the lack of housing, the condition was that 25 houses have to be built before the station could open but I never knew of a Station built like Kishoge to take that long just to open
@irishrailways220006 ай бұрын
@@Sim0nTrains There was a recession in Ireland around 2008 that lasted for a good few years and a lot of development including housing was never built, I would guess that's why the Kishoge area was never properly developed at the time of the station being built and then the pandemic delayed the opening even further.

To all whom it may concern, the only loco hauled trains out of Dublin's fair city (my home town) are the mark 4 trains to Cork from Hueston. then, from Dublin Connolly, the train that goes to Belfast Lanyon Place. I think that only goes as far as Newry at the moment due to engineering works at lanyon place . (July 2024)

Really interesting, Simon. I’d love to travel on what’s left of the Irish railway system. Those stations look good, although the 4 platforms on most of them seem superfluous.

Only two loco hauled passenger trains left in Ireland... Dublin to Cork, and the Dublin to Belfast Enterprise. Good that you managed to catch a freight train. If you were to head up the Northern line, you might catch an Enterprise, though the ones based out of Belfast aren't running at the moment because of works for the new Grand Central station, with bus transfers from Newry to Belfast, and DMUs replacing the Belfast based trains. So unless you happen to catch a Dublin based one, you won't see too many loco hauled Enterprises. The service is going hourly in the next couple of years, and I suspect that will see the loco hauled trains replaced with multiple units. You also get some trains going to Tara mines on that line.

@@cookiee45007 Which part? Last time I got the Enterprise, it was a railcar, and going to Newry, but I don't know how long that's the case for. Apologies if they're back to normal now. Or was it something else I got wrong?
