Fuel mileage finishes can be absolutely incredible, or an unwatchable boring mess. No in between either.

I was at the truck race at Chicagoland last week so this is the first time I’ve seen the tv broadcast, and my take: get Vince Welch out of the booth. That was an exciting finish and he called it like Nemechek was far ahead, and then completely disregarded Moffitt. Rick Allen can be annoying but at least he can call a finish, my goodness

Papa John agreed also. It deserved a way better call than that.

To be fair Vince Welch was filling in last minute cuz Rick Allen had an emergency, Vinve Welch isn't used to be the play by play guy.
@321gofast75 жыл бұрын
I feel lile Vince Welsh has a good talking voice, while Rick Allen has a good announcing voice. If you put them together you can get a great voice in the booth.

My favorite fuel mileage finish was at the Brickyard 400 when Paul Menard managed his fuel and held off Jeff Gordon for the win. I grew up watching his father John field Indy cars year after year and never win in Indy cars, so to see his son win at Indy with his father there to see was just special to me. If Mr. Menard never wins another Cup race, he can always be proud for winning the one that meant the most.
@User-nu6km6 жыл бұрын
that was a bs win

Well that just, like, your opinion, man...
@ba.diecast244 жыл бұрын
@@catjudo1 he never did win again, but it was a heck of a win. As a Jeff Gordon fan Menard earned my respect that day. I give him even more props for his work with the sport sponsoring ARCA and other drivers as well as putting in a good word to have DiBenedetto be his replacement. Sure Menard wasn't a flashy guy at all and he hated the spotlight (especially social media haha) but he has left an impact on this sport.

Tony Stewart winning the 2006 race at Kansas while coasting out of fuel for the last half of the final lap was crazy.

If you do a part 2, the 2011 STP 300 at Chicago was a fuel mileage race. Both leaders ran out of gas at the same time and it was whoever coasted faster

It hinder some strategies but created new ones and there's still chances for fuel mileage finishes. I don't get why suddenly stage racing is being thrown under the bus for a lot of things lately.

I remember people used to complain about Bill Weber and everyone thought he sucked but compared to Vince Welch and Rick Allen he was pretty damn good.

Eh, I'll still take those two over Bill Weber all day, and that's not saying a lot.

nascage At least Bill Weber could put together complete sentences without stumbling like Rick Allen does and he didn’t sound constipated all the time like Vince Welch does.

I was at that Xfinity race at Auto Club. It was a very boring race & Kyle Busch dominated. During the race, I was trying to open a bag of Skittles, & when it did open several of the pieces flew out. The guy behind me said that Kyle won't win because of it. Well, Kyle blew a tire & lost to Austin Dillon. Still amazes me to this day how he jinxed Kyle like that
