There should be a "dead man's switch" app or a device where people living alone could like log in with their passwords or fingerprints everyday. And if they fail to do so, the device would send out a message to either the family, landlord or the police to do a wellness check on the tenant/homeowner. Some of the fudoyasan (housing agency) wouldn't tell you if you're not the first occupant. Best way is to rent direct to the oyasan (owner). I'm a filipino, this superstitious culture was passed down to me from my ancestors the first thing i would do before moving is to clean the whole apartment,pour some salt on every corner and first moved some liquids (can be cooking oil,water etc) and cotton. Before moving the whole stuff.
@kingseiryu929 Жыл бұрын
Same for Chinese as well. I watch Taiwan ghost variety shows where they invite the shifus or spiritual mediums to give advice on different cases. Salt is a good simple method for standard ghost. For more stubborn spirits, probably need more forceful methods

It’s a high statistic to hear a lot of older people in Japan live alone with no family or even a community to help or check in on them from time to time. That landlord who does that can’t do that in Australia. A landlord can’t just pop around whenever he/wants to even if it’s to check on their welfare. My neighbour lived on his own and died alone with no one knowing. I didn’t even know until I heard the scream 4 days one morning when his home help came over to work and found him. It’s really a tragic for those living all alone and have no family etc. to help. Again, Japan has many issues with loneliness and they must address it.

It is important to register at a local health facility, with friends, or community center to arrange to have a check up call daily. Or even strangers can arrange to call and wish each other good morning. If someone does not answer for 2 days , then the police should be called. People minding their own business isn't just a Japanese thing. Remember 'the house of horrors' where 13 kids, the 'Turpins' were found in the USA? 12 kids were so malnourished that a 29 year old looked 13? This was ongoing, decades of abuse. Neighbours said they had noticed some weird things but didn't want to alert the authorities or cause neighbourly problems. They felt mortified when the situation was discovered and blamed themselves for not making a phone call:(

I was working really late in the office alone one night around 10pm when I suddenly heard weird creepy “grudge” like voices coming from the hallway. I figured it must be some animal almost like a cat. I traced the noise to the men’s bathroom - the door was open and it was dark inside. The noise seemed to be coming from above so I thought there might be a cat trapped inside the drop ceiling. I called out and the cat noises kept coming, almost like it’s responding to me with perfect timing. As soon as I turned on the light the noise surprisingly stopped entirely, even as I waited a tense five minutes. So I go inside and check the stalls, empty. Noise didn’t come back. It was creepy but I still figured must be a coincidence. After I calmed my nerves I decided to use the urinal. As I’m standing there, the main restroom door suddenly slams behind me, scaring the crap outta me and I nearly pee myself. I run out and yell hello? Nothing. I’m sweating bullets, starting to become convinced there’s something supernatural, and I decide to double check the restroom again, carefully and slowly opening with door with anxiety to peek inside. As I’m doing it the door starts creaking and making the exact same cat like noise. Turns out the janitor didn’t prop up the door tightly enough with the door stop and it was sliding from the recently mopped floors and causing the door to creak in a way I never heard before when it moves slowly. Had I not discovered this and drove home in panic I probably would’ve started believing in ghosts. Sometimes it is indeed a pure series of coincidences that make people think it’s ghosts and it’s over imagination and fear, especially when compounded by a gruesome story or history, that make them miss the opportunity to discover a perfectly logical explanation.
