I have a stupid question 🫣 how do you normally decide when the garment needs a lining, when it’s just a facing? Are there some kind for rules?

Not stupid at all! There’s a few indicators but I’d say it’s mostly up to preference, unless your shell fabric is transparent of course. I’d say things to take into equation are the weight of the shell fabric, the quality, the cut of the garment, and wether you want to take the difficult route or make it easier with just facing your exposed areas. In summer for example if you make something for a holiday in warmer temperatures you’d want to keep the garment as light as possible, so you’d go for facing. So it’ll change from case to case! Hope that helps

@@ThrillsandStitches Thank you so much for the tips! It takes time and experience to make the appropriate decision I guess. I recently made a cute sailers romper with facing around neck for my baby, cause it’s so mini and the collar is 3 layers of linen and cotton, it became too thick that I had to iron and press very hardly and even make some stitches underneath to hold it in shape 😅 Now with a linen viscose one it’s almost transparent. 🫢
