Love your videos! There aren't many dentists, let alone orthodontists on youtube who can help and encourage future dentists or those considering.

I am so appreciative of your videos!! I understand you have said that in undergrad you major in science, but is there any specific science major I should look out for? Thank you so much!

Don't think there are any that are way better than others.

Hi from Toronto! Only came across your channel when I was researching Invisalign. But I LOVE how passionate you’re talking about orthodontics! Almost make me want to switch career 🤣 Too bad I’m deeply ‘stuck’ in banking 🤣

Lol. Banking is not so bad!

I LOVE your content! I just recently switched over to dentistry and I'm pretty thrilled (and terrified) with my choice. I was wondering if you have any advice on getting some quality dental exposure to help get into dental school (I've already graduated undergrad from CA - I miss it too.) I see that most dental assistants need some sort of certification - how do you "get your foot in the door" in a dental clinic so you can eventually rack up some quality time in an office, aside from just shadowing? Thanks so much! Your videos do way more good than you know.
@ThriveDentist4 жыл бұрын
Hey Priya. I would try to shadow but typically offices don't really like that because honestly you just get in the way. I would be an extern or do some dental assisting for a little if you want more exposure. If you want to boost your resume I would also volunteer and try to do some research if possible
@priyakirtley87744 жыл бұрын
@@ThriveDentist Thank you for such an honest response! I agree, I feel very much in the way when I shadow. I'll offer to extern or volunteer. Thank you!

Thank you!! I’m struggling to either become a dental hygienist or an orthodontist. I know I want to work in a dental field🦷 I’m more passionate about orthodontist than dental hygiene but it’s the debt that’s pulling me away. After watching your videos, I feel a bit more secure about choosing orthodontist but I’m still confused in which to choose😞

You can do it! Choose ortho!

Hey dr Nate I have been a follower since the begining I and a high schooler in 9 grade and I want to know what specialty I want to go in, can you do a house tour of an orthodontist that would be awesome!🤩
@ThriveDentist4 жыл бұрын
Oh I may do a house tour in a little. Great idea.

Hi, can you do a video on what you need to know for becoming a Dentist\Orthodontist on the business side?
@ThriveDentist3 жыл бұрын
Would love to but that's like a whole series of videos. Orthodontics is kind of tough but running a business is way harder IMO.

Lol watching this video with no intention of going into dentistry let alone orthodontics. 🤣 Love the video though!!

Hello! Do you have to own your own practice to become an orthodontist?

Nope. You can work as an associate.

Hello doctor I hope ur doing safe ,, I think as u mentioned ur a permanent residence of Canada but living in US am I right ? Why u moved on and what do u think the dental school in Canada if u have any experience? Cz I’m thinking to move there and study ortho?
@ThriveDentist4 жыл бұрын
I never thought I would stay in the states but I love it here and I also found my wife in California. I believe the Canadian schools are great and I have heard good things about their dental programs.

I am considering going outside of the United States (almost done with High School in the US) to a Direct Dental program where in 5 years I will have my undergrad and dental degree rather than doing school here and it taking me 8 years. I will go to man english program in Turkey if I decide to go.. Is this something you would recommend? When I finish the 5 years can I start practicing in the US as a dentist? Will an orthodontics residency be harder to get into? Any other opinions you have on this?
@ThriveDentist3 жыл бұрын
I heard Turkey is beautiful but you won't be able to come back and just practice. You will have to take extra courses when you come back so it's likely not worth it. Who knows things may change though.

Hi, again! I noticed that you said you knew people who came out of dental school with little to nothing to pay because of their financial background. I currently am an undergrad student and I have everything paid for because of my financial situation. Do you think this could also be a possibility for me for dental school?
@ThriveDentist4 жыл бұрын
That's great. Yes it's a possibility.

Hello Dr. Nate, I am currently pursuing the 3+3 dental program at the University of the Pacific and am currently in my first year of dental school and am fixed hard on specializing in orthodontics. But I’ve one prob that is that we dont get paid stipends in orthodontics and my family isnt that well off that they can provide for my daily life. So could u tell me how i can earn during my orthodontics residency for a living?
@ThriveDentist3 жыл бұрын
In ortho you can moonlight as a dentist to make some money on the weekends.
