Taka is the name you want to remember. He's the vocalist, and his full name is Takahiro Moriuchi, one of the people credited with the lyrics that you read off at the beginning. The studio version of this song features 5 Seconds of Summer. I was at this concert and it was glorious. Huge crowd yet you could hear a pin drop when they go into the silence at the beginning. I hope you check out more of the band's music. They just wrapped up their European headliner tour where they also opened for Muse in between tour dates. I recommend you check out "We are" and "Cry out" from this same performance at Ambitions Japan Dome Tour. Also try "The Beginning" at Eye of the Storm Japan Tour for more of an English/Japanese mix and "Mighty Long Fall" at 35xxxv Japan Tour if you want to head bang. This band is so versatile and their discography spans across many genres.

Ok , first off , taka doesn’t use auto tune , ever . The lives are always top tier , their Japanese sound engineers are world class . For background taka writes as well as performs their tracks but collaborates with artists such as Ed Sheeran on writing songs . This was a performance dedicated to Chester Bennington passing as they were good friends and had supported linkin park on their Japanese world tour . They were due to collab just weeks after Chester passed and that’s why there’s a silence and taka was emotional . Also the show was set back nearly an hour as taka was extremely sick but did the show anyways so not to disappoint the fans . All of their live performances far exceed the quality of their album materials . And ‘we are ‘fight the night and ‘clock strikes’ are three vocal masterpieces as is his cover of Adele’s ‘hello’ . That’s where he shines and will really be appreciated , in my 42 years he’s probably one of the most talented vocalists of the past 15-20 years

Thank you for the reaction and analysis! Taka (vocals) is very good at imbuing emotions in his vocal and phrasing, almost effortlessly and naturally. He once said he listens to a lot of western country music, which might explains why his singing is so expressive and the yodel-like switch between chest voice and head voice he often does. The rest of the band are also equally talented with great sense of music for simple yet effective arrangements. It's like they treat Taka's voice as another musical instrument, so they won't overpower each other. Everyone understands when to pull back and when to take lead to enhance the song, supported by amazing sound engineers. If you're interested in doing another from them, I recommend "Mighty Long Fall" live at Yokohama Stadium (the one with 15M views). It's one of their heavier songs, with an almost heavy metal coda, which shows how versatile they are.

This song has another version (my favorite) featuring the australian band 5 Seconds of Summer. Their music is amazing too. You guys should definitely check it out. Their music has tones of different influences such as emo, pop, pop punk, indie, rock and others. All of the band can sing and play instruments which is pretty cool.

OOR if famous for allowing their fans to participate in their songs. I often say that the fans are the 5th member of the band. They are the most humble and honest band i had the privilege to see live. These young man are an epic experience. Every single member is crucial to the band. Taka lead singer is an amazing songwriter and vocalist, toru guitarist is a magician, Ryota the base one of a kind and Tomoya is phenomenal drummer. He has a KZbin page on its own. Its been said that the moment of silence in this song was in honor of Chester Bennington. OOR and linkin Park were good friends and planing on touring together before the untimely death of Chester. The band had been around since 2005 and they sing all types of rock. Rock being the key denominator in their songs. I would love it if you guys react to more. Thank you so much for reacting to One OK Rock. I like to hear when vocal coaches analyze Taka's voice because I just love the way he sings but a coach will explain what a great voice he has. I don't know the different terminology for vocal techniques but your explanation was really interesting. Taka writes most of the melodies and lyrics and they are very positive. When he sings, he brings a lot of emotion in his singing and he can hold a note for 30 seconds. He does this with Clock Strikes. And it is so effortless that I love to listen to him. Hope you react to more One OK Rock songs because they are a phenomenal band. I would also suggest The Beginning, Wasted Nights, We Are, and Your Tears Are Mine to name a few.

I saw them last October in Minneapolis. The band was amazing, and Taka’s voice was much too powerful for the small venue. They deserve to be headliners in a large American music fest. I would love to see them in Japan. The Japanese audience is so respectful. No videos, if you notice. Taka said that this song works best in Japan as the audience gives him the silence he desires. In America, where we feel uncomfortable with prolonged silences, someone inevitably will yell out after 30 seconds or so.

Regarding the autotune, he wasn't in shape on this day (he was sick AFAIK), and they pitch corrected the hell out of this performance for the home release. It's why it shows the most here. But as you said, he is in fact a beast live and doesn't really need it. They just run through the autotune on the DVD/Blu-ray versions to perfect it.

Welcome to the world of One Ok Rock! Taka is an absolute monster vocally. And I have seen them live and let me tell you, there is very little variance in how he sounds live vs recorded. I have found a few Japanese bands that are like this in that regards, Band Maid being at the top of that list. Their live performances often are better than studio recordings. With OOR, He pours his emotions out in the songs. I would highly suggest checking out We Are. There are 2 versions, that to me are top tier. First would be the 18fes version. It's a longer video and gives some back drop to the meaning behind the song. The second is from the same concert that Take What You Want was done. The Ambitions Tour. I'm sure ( I haven't gone through the comments yet) that you have been told, but he was sick during this concert. It was delayed, almost cancelled. Just an amazing performer.

Ado is a female youtube singer became grovel that she debuted in USA recently. Her song "Odo/踊" and other songs are incredible. Another one is called LiSA from the demon slayer. I was lucky to have attended a OOR concert before covid. Taka doesn't need autotune. He sounds better live than on record :D always pitch perfect and I don't know where he gets the energy from but their concerts always vibrate. It's nuts, seriously. Great reaction! One Ok Rock is one of my favourite bands, hope you go on and do another reactions with them. I'd suggest 'The begginning" and "Clock strikes"in live versions. It's from early times of this band. And I'd also suggest you to check "Save yourself" and " "Vandalize" from their last album ("Luxury disease" - 2022).

Among the comments on such a reaction video, there were a few, but there was something like the following. "The silence of the audience that continues from the beginning of the song is created by muting all the voices of the audience." "The part where auto tune is used a lot and the voice is unstable (3:09) is an error during the processing." Perhaps the person who made this comment couldn't believe the silence of the audience for such a long time, and I think he came up with such an idea. If the unsteady voice (3:09) wasn't Taka's production, I think it was Taka's poor physical condition and he couldn't control his vocalization. This is a guess based on the opinions of those who actually went to the Live. As for the "audience silence", I think there was definitely silence there. I went to ONE OK ROCK's Japan tour this year and experienced it myself. The song was different, but I was also in the silence of about 35,000 people, who were filled with respect, tension, and anticipation for ONE OK ROCK. Taka doesn't like auto tune, and fans don't like over-processed. By the way, ONE OK ROCK has surprised fans by changing their style with each album. A really rare band. "人生×僕=" (6th album) in 2013, "35xxxv" in 2015, "Ambitions" in 2017, "Eye Of The Storm" in 2019, "Luxury Disease" in 2022. The change from 2015's "35xxxv" is remarkable, becoming quite pops on "Eye Of The Storm" and then back to rock again on "Luxury Disease". Both albums are full of great songs, and with each change, their range of expression has expanded and their skills have improved. Taka says that the CD and other sources are an invitation to Live. The song is completed by adding the singing voice and passion of the fans to the song arranged for Live. Thank you, ONE OK ROCK is an amazing band❤The silence at the beginning of the song is a prayer for Chester Beninton.OOR and Linkin Park were supposed to perform together on the US tour and the JAPAN tour in 2017, but he passed away and it was cancelled. .Taka respected Linkin Park and they recognized Taka's talent. Taka later performed at a memorial concert held in LA.These and valuable interviews between Taka and Linkin Park are all available on KZbin. OOR has been collaborating with many famous overseas artists. Recently, OOR had MUSE🇬🇧's open act and solo live on their UStour and European tour, and it was amazing!! PS. @@throgaJust FYI that the "moment of silence" was NOT a tribute to Chester. Taka was just taking in the moment and enjoying the silence in a venue filled with thousands of people, something that doesn't work outside of Japan (he's tried and there's always people who interrupt the silence). While it sounds nice if this were a tribute to Chester, it's likely some random person's interpretation which they then spread as fact and people ran with it. The only true tributes they've ever done for Chester is a cover of "One More Light" on tour and Taka sang "Somewhere I Belong" at Chester's tribute concert at the Hollywood Bowl. At least, I have never heard the band specify that it was a tribute, but there have been multiple occasions where Taka has mentioned that the silence doesn't work overseas.
