Throne of Eldraine Limited Archetype Guide

Wow. This is nice. Throne of Eldraine is a special set for me. It was the most recent set when I first got into Magic the Gathering. It was when I first played Magic Arena. I enjoy the main gamplay. However I found it way too difficult to advance and get cards. If I can't afford to buy stuff with real world money, I get crushed by the competition. I quit because of it. I still enjoy learning about Magic the Gathering online. I also like to make my own playing cards using index cards and art supplies. The standard sets were Core 2020, Guilds of Ravnica, Ravnica Allegence, War of Spark and Throne of Eldraine. I mainly got into the Guilds of Ravnica and Ravnica Allegence sets. They had the basic kind of cards in the starter decks. So they were easier to learn as a beginner. I also enjoyed the lore of Ravnica and the guilds. That was one of the main things that drew me into the game. I prefer the sets based on them. I wasn't into Throne of Eldraine at first. However it grew on me. I understood the mechanics better after I mastered the basics. My favorite guild is Izzit. I have played with the Ravnica cards a lot. Later one I added Throne of Eldraine cards. I find the card draw to be a powerful mechanic that made my deck better. I still rember what the deck was. There was eight Mountain, eight Island, four Izzit Guildgate and 4 Swiftwater Cliffs. The other cards had 9 kinds with four copies each. There was Shock and Lava Coil for creature removal. There was Opt and Radical Idea for card draw. There was Crakling Drake and Niv-Mizzet. They are powerful dragons with payoffs for casting non creature spells. Then there were three Eldraine cards. Fary Vandal and and Irencrag Pyromancer provides payoffs for card draw. Then I have Royal Scions as a plainswalker that draws cards. I dabbled with Simic food and Dimir mil in the ELdraine cards. I didn't go beyond that. It would be interesting to explore more. I like the lore of Eldraine. It is interesting that there is a kingdom for each of the five colors. If Magic Arena ever cleans its act and makes it fair for the free players, I may come back.

I did a black White Knight deck at the prerelease, but I VASTLY underestimated the utility of adventure - I was doing great against decks that didn't take advantage of it, but against those that did, I wasn't able to keep up to the sheer amount of card advantage they were getting over me by using a lot of the green/white adventures. Still, live the theme and art on pretty much everything, my favourite set in years.

My UB Mill deck: 4 Overwhelmed Apprentice, 4 Merfolk Secretkeeper, 4 Drown in the Loch, 3 Tyrant's Scorn, 3 Plaguecrafter, 3 Liliana, Dreadhorde General, 4 Didn't Say Please, 4 Thought Collapse, 4 Thought Erasure, 4 Ritual of Soot. 4 Watery Grave, 4 Dismal Backwater, 10 Island, 5 Swamp. So much fun! It only has a hard time against tempo Knights and Mono-red Cavalcade. Otherwise this deck is pretty consistent. It beats most other decks I've played against.

Don’t remember if it was specifically mentioned so sorry if it was, but I think vantress gargoyle is pretty good in b/w enchantifacts, and if the picks are nice, great to bring back with dance of the muse(which I think bringing back artifact creatures is a big plus for dance btw)

Looking at Sultai it seems you might be able to get a nice draw/mill theme going supplemented with food and food payoffs if you get it. Or you can go green non-human plus some adventures. You could even go food payoff bigbois with extra removal to be nice and S P I C E E. This all might be a nice little set to draft and prerelease Sultai, which, of course, no one will expect, especially if they just go off of what other people say about it as a draft set. Again, it all depends on your specific playstyle and what cards you get, but I believe playing a sleeper type deck will be enough of a surprise for most opponents that it could help you win big.

I haven't gone to prerelease yet, but I've played sealed in mtga the red knight aggro decks are REAL strong if you get the cards for it. I'd argue RW and/or RB knights is the strongest archetype in limited.

In sealed I guess BG is the strongest cause it comes together most of the time... If u have the pool to be fast enough against food RW or RB aggro may be the best

Mono color drafts are super unlikely. I think the top archetype is b/g food, there is so much synergy and good cards there, and there is the lifegain.

I think you should've mentioned lucky clover under adventure payoffs for GW. You mentioned in your multicolored/colorless review that it is most suited for GW, strange there's no mention here. It turns all your adventures into good value for mana spent rather than mediocre/below average. With it in play, some of the stronger adventures to copy are fertile footsteps- ramps you for 2, welcome home- summons 2 bear families, rider in need- 3 mana call the calvary, usher to safety- saves 2 permanents, bring back- summons 4 dudes. And if you draft enough rosethorn acolytes, seasonal ritual nets you 1 mana with clover in play and let's you color fix twice, allowing you to splash other strong adventures. I can easily see clover getting out of hand in a game. I also didn't mention all of the other mediocre adventures in GW, but they all basically become above curve cards that can also be played as a creature later.

day 1 of mtg arena after the new rotasion and I manage to make a blue/white deck that keeps me safe while making some crestures and drawing me cards, and if I grt lucky with getting specific cards also shoves cards from my opponent's library into their graveyard while givving all players an unlimited hand love it lmao

There's something that bugs me in the designs of rare legendaries for each of the colours, like the artists drew them off the first thing they saw in the morning. Ayara's a bunch of cups welded together, Yorvo's a big electric razor, Gadwick probably became a reality when the electric bill came and the artist decided to light the room using candles for awhile. And the less we talk about Madame Toilet Seat, the better.
